i tend to really like TAi tend to really not like people at TA shows

I'm sorry but that TA singer is shit. Not Ke$ha-shit, but shitty enough to hold back what is an otherwise excellent band. Also, that "Tragic Girl" song is surprisingly good. Made me listen to Pinkerton again.

YA, FUCK EMOTION. H8 THAT TA SINGER.NEED MORE INTERPOL.[Edited on October 18, 2010 at 2:09 AM. Reason : .]

Not 2010, but I picked up Ride - Nowhere (1990)Adorable - Against Perfection (1993)this weekend at a used music store. Really enjoying both so far. I had heard of Ride before, but never heard of Adorable. Certainly both enjoyable, though I enjoyed Ride better.I also picked up Red House Painters - S/T (aka Rollercoaster, 1993) last week after getting into Sun Kil Moon and wanting some more Mark Kozelek material. I'm sure I am super late to the party on this as well but I really dug this record a lot.

Bob Dylan was/is a vocal phenom. So was/is Lou Reed.So was Jimi Hendrix.Every band needs one of such to be a success.[Edited on October 18, 2010 at 3:38 PM. Reason : I am trolling.]

^Sheff's voice sounds a lot better than the guy from TA...it's not even close. You don't have to be able to hit all the notes, but you've got to hit some.
10/18/2010 5:04:38 PM
I think Wil Sheff is a much better singer than Patrick Stickles.Patrick Stickles is also my #1 favorite singer of the moment. I've listened to The Monitor probably 3-5 times a week for the past three or four months.
10/18/2010 5:16:15 PM
Haha...spöokyjon stars in Almost Famous 2?Fuck you and fuck Ride, man, our sound is UNIQUE!

Another Weezer Pinkerton era song: "Getting Up and Leaving" http://api.ning.com/files/uS8VBueCR0GkB7ZOdNMQBlTZlITQJrCRe6rvPG4mCDgcuUzMYnFsuadLlK3MNRFdQdUXt0555BHnxKG3dbrLJDNrMjYFvaLG/13GettingUpAndLeaving.mp3
10/19/2010 4:34:17 PM
been waiting a long time to hear that one
10/19/2010 4:42:28 PM
Yeah that's kind of the last of the unreleased 90s stuff that has been hyped up for so long. I guess there are a few Black Hole demos left for Alone 3, and then that's that.
10/19/2010 4:47:31 PM
welp, time to go on my 588th Pinkerton binge
10/19/2010 5:11:42 PM

the warpaint album is awesome. have listened to it at least ten times since sunday.
10/20/2010 6:21:21 PM
^ YepSomething about their sound makes me think they'd be awesome live, despite mostly low key songsBut I'm usually wrong about these things
10/20/2010 6:43:18 PM
I know most won't care but finally got to sit down and listen to the new Trapt album and it's great just as all their previous ones so definitely give it a listen or pick it up if you are into them or that type of music
10/20/2010 9:51:22 PM
I think you meant Trappedmust have been some kind of a typo
10/20/2010 10:00:24 PM
Whoa, for a second there I thought I was in the "Music of 2001" thread.
10/20/2010 10:06:08 PM

New Mavis Staples is really good, too (produced by Jeff Tweedy).sorry for dp
10/21/2010 7:31:12 PM
The Love Language rhyming rest with rest on Lalita bothers me slightly every time i hear it for some reason.
10/23/2010 1:10:33 PM
10/23/2010 2:26:36 PM
Haha, fair enough...The dude has make up like an Aladdin Sane-era Bowie on the cover. Quite possibly another strike against him. The music is good, though, I swear...
10/23/2010 3:14:11 PM
Gone through the Warpaint album a few times now. It's decent, but I like the EP more. The Veelee LP is good, but because of the way they use samples in their show it's very similar to what you see live. That's not a bad thing, but it's basically a hi-fi representation of a polished Veelee show. I like it.

10/27/2010 8:14:24 AM
I cannot stop listening to the new Deerhunter album, absolutely fantastic.
10/27/2010 8:38:05 AM
^ Yeah, I binged on that album for a while. It's my favorite album of the year. I also went back and listened to all of their earlier stuff because my prior exposure was only through Atlas Sound.
10/27/2010 11:26:09 AM
I still don't think it's as good as Microcastle, but it does rule.
