yeah it sounds really fucking stupid considering how messed up the plane is
4/8/2010 2:10:01 PM
the reason daniel knew to reach out to desmond was b/c he overheard him talking to eloise under the tent... if you watch the episode again, they pan the camera behind a guy's head and i knew right away that it would be daniel and then sure enough he pops up like a gopher
4/8/2010 3:55:58 PM
yeah, everyone knew... i hope, that Charles and Eloise's son was Daniel. And they said in the episode that he was a pianist. And they showed the piano player from behind when Desmond got there. Even if you didn't know Daniel was their kid at this point, it's not hard to pick that guy out of a crowd (not that there was a crowd) - even with his back turned. The fact that they even avoided showing his face until Desmond rolled down the window is retarded. Like rwoody suggested on the last page, they pander to the lowest denominator.[Edited on April 8, 2010 at 4:23 PM. Reason : .]

haha.. this thread is nothing but...- "that episode sucked"- proceed to talk about said episode for 6 days- "can't wait for tonight's episode"- "that episode sucked"---you get the idea...At least it's better than the one a few seasons back with the cloud of "i know more than you"BTW.. explain this epilogue theory -- PM if you dont want to spoil

4/9/2010 12:09:35 PM
i think daniel is charles widmore and eloise's son.
4/9/2010 1:27:53 PM
i think you are right
4/9/2010 1:42:29 PM
I don't agree that this show "panders to the lowest denominator." It is notorious for being one of the most difficult shows on television to follow and for being a show which requires your full attention to understand what is going on. If they pandered to the lowest common denominator, they'd make it a lot easier to follow.
4/9/2010 2:00:17 PM
It does create a lot of suspense for suspense's sake - conflicts and drama that simply turn out to be unrealistic and/or unnecessary after they're resolved.
4/9/2010 2:40:45 PM
i don't think anyone is saying the show as a whole panders to idiots. But as ^ mentioned, there's a lot of suspense for the sake of suspense. Their choice in shots, camera angles, score, dialogue, etc. are all set up to create a "what's gonna happen/who's it gonna be" moment... and it's Widmore as desmond's boss and Daniel as their son. We already know from the other time-line that Daniel is their son. And i imagine a lot of people realized that "the boss" was widmore way before they finally showed him in the shot that panned around the entire office to finally fall on him. And all the "take me to the boss" talk before that.I'd rather they not waste my/their time on such things and focus their energy elsewhere.[Edited on April 9, 2010 at 2:50 PM. Reason : such]
4/9/2010 2:48:43 PM
That makes more sense to me.
4/9/2010 3:18:50 PM
^^Not just cinematography and dialoge, but plot points too.For example: The whole "Lets have Dorgen trick Jack into killing Sayid" bit. That was unnecessary. Dorgen didn't have to mislead Jack about the poison pill, or Sayid. They didn't have to have that dumb heart-to-heart. Dorgen didn't have to treat the survivors like enemies and he didn't have to be vague and suspicious. All these things worked against him in the end, and they made no sense at all. Suspense for suspense's sake. Drama for Drama's sakeNow, an example of justified suspense would be the way Rousseau treated Sayid when she first encountered him. She tied him to a metal frame and tortured him, but she had her reasons for doing it. She thought he was infected, or one of the Hostiles. She wasn't just torturing him because it created suspense.[Edited on April 9, 2010 at 3:47 PM. Reason : .]

I think Dorgen is the son of Jabob and Whidmore
4/9/2010 3:53:16 PM
good one!
4/9/2010 4:39:10 PM
^^ i did lol a little. But, i'm just want to point out that Whidmore doesn't sound that much different than Widmore when you say it. Dogen and Dorgen... ehh.

Nothing will ever beat when mambagrl introduced us to the character of 'Jobob'. That shit cracked me up. Still does.

i've made comments similar to them pandering to the least common denominator. my thoughts on this issues are mostly based on that the beat an issue to death until the point couldn't be driven any further...yet people still have questions about it.i definitely wouldn't say it is one of the hardest shows to follow that requires your full attention. i love the show, but that just isn't the way i feel.

SoSomething I haven't seen brought upDesmond's "See ya in another life, brother"Excellent foreshadowing or what
4/13/2010 10:17:13 PM
So did they just do a crappy job of aging Marvin Candle or whatever his name is at the beginning, or is he perpetually youthful too? Cause he looked pretty much the same in 2004 as he did back in the 70s. At least to me.
4/13/2010 10:23:55 PM
that little kid is Jacob, right?
4/13/2010 10:31:53 PM

^^This little kid had brown hair, previous little kid had blond hair. Whatever the significance of it is, who knows.
4/13/2010 10:53:17 PM
^^ I mean, yeah, it's almost definitely just creative writing to tie the alternate timeline back to season 2. I have no doubt that this wasn't planned out from the beginningHoweverSomeone posted this on LAGF

Get your fuckin logic outta my face
4/13/2010 11:24:49 PM
I thought the last scene w/ Michael & Hurley felt incredibly forced to tie up the question of what the whispers were.
4/13/2010 11:25:44 PM
^I said the same thing, but, as someone else in my Lost group pointed out, at least questions are starting to be answered. Even if they are forced answers.
4/13/2010 11:33:18 PM
i kinda hope they say something else about the whispers before the show ends. just because it's the people who can't pass on or whatever doesn't explain why ben would've told rousseau, "if you hear whispers, run" or whatever back when he stole alex from her. there always seemed to be some element of danger surrounding the whispers rather than dead people talking shit or something.
4/13/2010 11:38:19 PM
wtf was the deal with the trailer for next week's episode? It had Gene Wilder's crazy monologue from the scary tunnel scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory playing. What the hell was that about?
