Do Jones and Ware count as this class or last?
12/8/2008 12:53:03 AM
jones is enrolling in january which counts as a scholarship from last year's classif ware gets his grades in order, he'll be put back on scholarshipboth these scholarships change the total count, so while we started with 16 these two would be taken from the amount available.
12/8/2008 1:08:31 AM
Palmer and Mangram are now coming in 2010 if they maintain their commitments. I dunno about Everett.
12/8/2008 6:22:04 AM
keep in mind that we'll definitely take more than four more recruits or possibly more than 25 because some attrition is always assumed.
12/8/2008 9:05:09 AM
Are Mageo and Washington also January enrollees?
12/8/2008 2:06:32 PM
I think that's what I've heard

PP says we are recruiting 2010 QB Brandon Hill from Audubon, NJ. He goes to the same high school that Joe Flacco went to. Rivals says that Rutgers has already offered.Pro-style quarterbackAudubon (NJ) AudubonHt: 6-foot-5Wt: 218 lbsSchools InterestedDukeMaryland N.C. StateOregon RutgersTempleUCLA Wake Foresthttp://www.philly.com/inquirer/sports/high_school/20080917_Audubon_s_Hill_keeping_QB_legacy_alive.htmlAudubon's Hill keeping QB legacy aliveJunior Brandon Hill has a presence as he walks around Audubon. Hill understands he is looked at a little differently, which isn't bad when you are continuing a legacy of excellence. While it might be hyperbole to call Audubon a factory for quarterbacks, the Green Wave have enjoyed a recent history that is the envy of the Colonial Conference - and beyond.Teams often are known for excellence at certain positions. Penn State is known as Linebacker U. Southern Cal churns out top-flight tailbacks. Now it's Audubon with quarterbacks, going back to Joe Flacco. You might have seen Flacco, an all-Colonial Conference quarterback in 2001 and 2002, scamper for a 38-yard touchdown in his NFL debut Sept. 7 for the Baltimore Ravens. In 2004, Dan Jakubowski earned all-conference honors as an Audubon quarterback. Then came Steve Rizzo, who got a scholarship to Colgate. He was a three-time all-conference selection from 2005 through last season. Now, the 6-foot-5, 210-pound Hill steps into the quarterback tradition, hoping to gain a foothold like his predecessors. He has the size and an arm that has drawn comparisons to Flacco.Hill's completing 12 of 14 passes for 196 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Saturday's opening 28-0 win against Overbrook won't do much to stop the hype.To keep him grounded, Hill's coaches teased about his two incompletions."It's definitely an honor to play quarterback at Audubon," Hill said. "Right now, things are in my hands, and it's a great feeling."That doesn't mean he is without pressure."He never said anything, but I think he felt some pressure and wanted to do so well because of the legacy that exists here," Audubon coach Ralph Schiavo said. "In the first game, we didn't want him to do too much, put too much pressure on him."Hill said he learned so much from Rizzo, and he loves playing in the spread offense of Schiavo, a former Cherokee receiver who knows how much fun the pitch-and-catch game can be.Hill said that he gets stares when walking around town, understanding that the whispers likely are suggesting he is the kid next in line."Being a quarterback here in Audubon, you have to handle the pressure," Hill said. "But who wouldn't want to be in this situation?"Hill said that even before his opening game he was offered a football scholarship by Rutgers. He had attended a camp at the school, and the coaches got to see him in action. There could be a few more offers before his high school career ends.Hill also will benefit from another position of strength at Audubon - wide receiver. Senior Matt Roldan is among the best in South Jersey."You couldn't ask for a better group of teammates," Hill said.Recently, Schiavo was presented with a framed Baltimore Ravens jersey delivered to the school from Flacco. Inscribed on the jersey was, "Thanks Coach Schiavo."It was an example of a big-time athlete not forgetting his roots. Schiavo was touched by the gesture.Hill thought it was classy and cool. Probably in the back of his mind, he would like to send Schiavo a jersey one day.Hill isn't trying to be the next Flacco or even the next Rizzo. Being plain old Brandon Hill is good enough for him. It appears good enough to keep the impressive quarterback tradition going strong at Audubon.[Edited on December 8, 2008 at 4:55 PM. Reason : ]

Nothing against the kids, but on paper this has been a very weak recruiting class. We are being out-recruited by 9 of the other ACC schools. Only Clemson and BC are behind us and that is because they have taken 8 and 7 recruits respectively to this point. Once they pick it up, there is a good chance they will surpass us as well. I guess my point is I really hope TOB is the guru of talent evaluation everyone is claiming. I hope these kids are just under evaluated. Otherwise we could be in for a bunch of 6-6 seasons down the road.

I wouldn't say that one recruiting class makes or breaks a program. If we have as good of a year next year as I'm anticipating then recruiting should pick back up. I can't blame guys for getting turned off to a team that started the year at 2-6 with some blowout losses.
12/10/2008 12:27:23 PM
Yeah that is true, GT barely cracked the top 50 (#49) in 2006 and they have an awesome team now.

Rivals has Bishop as a 3-star S, Scout obviously hasn't scouted him yet.And I think Byrd is a good example of TOB's skills in finding gems.We find him, become his first major offer, we land him.Within the next 2 weeks, Wake Forest offers him and convinces him to come visit. Now FSU has offered and want him to visit. We found him, in a school that Wake has ties to and in Florida so should have been seen by FSU, and now all of a sudden they're all over him.Yeah, we may have a class of 2 and 3 star guys, but we're getting the types of players we need. Guys who are gonna work hard and hopefully buy into our system.
12/10/2008 2:05:26 PM
Bishop just looks like a football player. He has great instincts. If he puts on about ten more pounds and maintains his present speed, he could be hell on wheels at safety.

Bishop is a pretty good pickup. He was recently upgraded from a 1* prospect on Scout to a 3* prospect and the 75th best safety nationally. maybe he can teach deandre how to make chest up tackles
12/10/2008 7:50:45 PM
I think we have a good shot at keeping Jarvis Byrd. He said his dad is kind of a Wolfpack fan anyways and always liked watching us play. Hopefully his dad steers him toward us and Jarvis remembers who out of the big boys came to him first.
12/10/2008 8:17:43 PM
that block he threw in the highlight video makes me rather happy
12/10/2008 9:15:28 PM
I missed this but why was Byrd considering reneging on his verbal?
12/10/2008 9:18:03 PM
there's no evidence he has. What they're talking about is that since he verbaled to us, both WFU and FSU have started recruiting him.
12/10/2008 9:29:12 PM
Well he's still verbaled to us right now, but WF and FSU have come in after seeing TOB land him. He visited Wake not too long ago and FSU has just offered him. Wake's Alphonso Smith, who attended Pahokee, is Byrd's cousin, and Demir Boldin also attended Pahokee. The school has sent players to FSU before. Antone Smith and ex-FSU star Anquan Boldin went to Pahokee.Alphonso Smith though encouraged Jarvis to go ahead and commit to NC State if he knew that's where he wanted to go and not worry about being overlooked by other schools.I personally think we have a good chance at keeping Byrd, but it will be tough to keep the other schools at bay b/c Byrd is a shutdown cover corner. I think it's a testament to TOB and his staff of great talent evaluators that once he committed to State other BCS schools had to check him out.
12/10/2008 9:29:54 PM
I've watched his video, and the guy seems to be exactly what you want out of a CB. Fluid, quick, great in the open field. Hopefully we hang onto him.[Edited on December 10, 2008 at 9:33 PM. Reason : ]

Bishop's senior year youtube video is insane. He's a different player from the junior film on PP. He runs fast, hits hard, finishes tackles, and he can catch as a DB and WR.

just the first hit on the youtube video is nasty enough to warrant a scholly
12/10/2008 10:58:11 PM

So after having offered Donald Coleman around 16 or so days ago, Minnesota and Iowa have now offered. TOB and Co.'s reputation for finding hidden gems continues to follow them. I heard that Ty Willingham after having lost to TOB a couple of years in a row told someone on his coaching staff to just offer whoever BC offers.
