my theory is that in the next coming episodes hurley will be manning the number again and decide to let them go to 0at the same time as this, sayid and jack explore more in the concrete tunnel and eventually find something down there that requires the numbers being inputted..whether it being the magnet or something worse..something that would affect the islandhurley will probably let the timer get down to 30 secs when jack and sayid rush back up to him and tell him to push the buttonsbut of course we wont know exactly what they find, only that it is apparent that not entering the numbers will cause some kind of disasterthus giving us another episode with more questions than answers

that's a good theory.....very predictable but it could work
10/12/2005 11:02:20 PM
I just don't see why Walt on the carton means anything. It is just a joke the producers wanted to put in...Hurley didn't even see it. Noone saw it except some keen viewers.
10/12/2005 11:03:46 PM
when the timer got very close to zero when jack and locke were argueing about it...it looked like it flashed 000:00 then went back up to 108:00. If this was the case and this is some sort of bomb or whatever, wouldnt any flash of 000:00 cause it to "go off." Maybe not, but i thought so. Also, they were talking quite seriously about this being a psychological project, i would like to hear more about that. Someone mentioned the "tracks between the bunkers". With what we saw of jack and sayid underneath the bunker, this could be some possiibility. However i was just fine with the scene ending with kate in a towel...just what i think at least

some small speculation floating around that Hurley's boss at Cluckey's is awfully similar to Locke's boss at his shitty job (the guy who makes fun of him for playing A&A or whatever during his lunch break).and sure enough:http://www.tv.com/billy-ray-gallion/person/50882/appearances.html

She was just hallucinating.... she was worried about the dog, it was lost... and plus they were all worried about the raft as well, if it would work, etc...just my opinion..i don't think it means anythingwatch me be wrong[Edited on October 12, 2005 at 11:06 PM. Reason : yep]

yeah both guys are named Randy (locke's boss and hurley's boss)didn't locke work at a box company? didn't hurley own a box company? and why does locke insist on calling hurley by his first name? maybe because hurley's beautiful fluffy hair is mounted somewhere on the box company walls

Perhaps Hurley felt sorry for his boss at the chicken place so he made him the boss of the box company he owned after receiving his lottery winnings.
10/12/2005 11:17:54 PM
trying not to have anyone hate him. it'd go along with everything he was talkin about in this episode.

Just found this on a site listing the connection between the characters. Kinda interesting, but I don't know if it is true.
10/12/2005 11:57:08 PM
I believe that was noted at some point during the 1st season, but it's a good catch, nonetheless.

In honor of tonight's disapointing, boring, filler episode I thought I present the following:
10/13/2005 1:01:27 AM
10/13/2005 1:05:38 AM
just finished watching it and i have to agree that for the most part this episode is just filler to us, but I have to wonder if the creaters have a reason for all this extra stuff. Tonight's episode was basically character development for Hurley, revealing more about his life away from the island, with some answers about the passengers in the back thrown in and the question of the concrete introduced. All the background information and connections between the characters really makes the idea that they were "chosen" to be there not seem that far fetched. My question is, why do so many of these "connections" seem so insignificant? I mean really, its pretty obvious that Locke's boss is the same as Hurley's boss, then theres the whole Jack and Desmond thing, and now people are saying that the girl who calls out the winning lotto numbers is the same that as one that was with Sawyer. What is the point of these little connections? The "Charlie" () in me says that they're just throwing the connections in to fuck with the viewers and draw them into the show more. At the same time, a part of me wants to believe that there is a reason for it all, that maybe all of this was set into action long before they got to the island, and there are a few key people that were in on it. I just hope that the creaters have everything planned out to where the show has a set story, tells it and then ends. I used to love the X-Files, but it ran so long, and was so drawn out, that by the end all of the plot twists and everything that had been done up to that point were pointless.^^Well shit, throw all this out the window...what the fuck, people just come up with an idea to sell a show and then drag it until its dea...why can't they say "here is what we want to do, it willl take this long to tell the story, if it does well we can work on a follow up, but this is what its going to be now," and just go with an idea. Instead we get a buch of shit that gets LOST in a web that they spin to keep the show going. [Edited on October 13, 2005 at 1:11 AM. Reason : bah]

dudei know you were probably typing all that when i posted it so there's no point in getting on you about you not seeing itbut if you want your hopes smashed, just read 2 posts above yours
10/13/2005 1:09:52 AM
yeah, i just edited my post...i guess after growing up watching the x-files, being drawn into it, and then getting screwed in the end because they had no plan for the story, I had hoped that this would be different...eh well, maybe he's just saying that to fuck with us even more
10/13/2005 1:14:30 AM
i would never expect full closure on a show like this. eg: twin peaks.
10/13/2005 1:17:04 AM
10/13/2005 1:17:26 AM
MacGyver, check out the link tl posted on this page...the 5th one downsarijoul, i don't expect full closure, but i'd like to think that they know where they're going with it and not just making it up as they go along. I guess its like watching a movie that starts out good, drags in the middle, and then you end up leaving the theater going "what the fuck?" Personally, I like a show that makes the viewer think about what is going on, how it connects to what has happened before, and gives the viewers a chance to guess about what is going on. It's just when a show loses track of where its going and leaves the viewers guessing just for the sake of them watching the next week that I get annoyed. Hopefully this won't turn out to be like that, despite the quote that Charlie posted.

Im not saying it wasnt him, it obviously is....I just dont see how during the episode tonight people can claim it was "obvious" both of their bosses are the same.I recall alot about the first season, and I really don't recall Locke's boss looking anything like Hurley's other than he was white and skinny....and a complete ass [Edited on October 13, 2005 at 2:06 AM. ^^I only said it was "obvious" because of that link. I had no idea until someone mentioned it.^ Yeah, whatever happened to the "security system"? it seems as though they can just wander in and out of the jungle with nothing to worry about.

I thought the comment Locke made to Hurley was interesting...the one about how it's his job to make sure people keep pushing the button. Seemed to me like the writers were taking a punch at religion there, since Locke represents faith.

LOST NUMBERS THEORY:The numbers represent how many people each station needs to operate. notice that there were 23 survivors in the other group... in the original group, there were 44 then 2 died right off the bat (the girl drowns and official is shot), and when boone dies the baby is born immediately and walt is taken and something like that...anyways, i think the second group is around 42 or whatever....just an idea im playing around with and havent put it all together...feel free to weigh in!

dont you all get itth experiments referenced in the dharma video were about random actions that become superstitions, the pidgeon experimentYOU CAN FIND THESE NUMBERS ANYWHERE thats the point
10/13/2005 10:47:13 AM
I don't know if this has been suggested, but I wonder if the countdown releases steam from the power generator that Sayid believes is behind the concrete.Perhaps the accident from the video was that the power generator can't be shut off, and now if you don't release the pressure every 108 minutes, the generator could explode.Just a thought
