I drink my coffee strong and I drink way too much of it to buy expensive shit.Folgers Breakfast Blend is where its at for me.

I. WANT. COFFEE. PLEASE.
11/8/2012 4:37:49 PM
^^I'm pretty much the same way. I buy the cheap stuff, and I don't mind it at all.

I've become cursed with a taste for good coffee over the years and have turned into too much of a snob. I drink single-origin coffee from http://www.49thparallelroasters.com/pages/coffee at home that I get from my favorite local shop http://sm.espressocielo.com/, which makes the best cappuccinos the world has ever known. But seriously, the Ethiopians from 49th Parallel are really freakin' good.

Why is it that when I drink a cup of Cup A Joe's coffee I smell like it for the rest of the day but that doesn't really happen with most other coffees? For the record I always drink it in-house and spend a couple hours in there. Yes It'll take me that long to finish a cup while I'm working. Sue me. Seriously I'll walk into a room hours after leaving the coffee shop and someone across the way will say "did someone just bring coffee in here?"
11/8/2012 6:05:27 PM
^I mean, probably because their coffee is freshly roasted. The shop is very pungent from the coffee their store, the grinding, et cetera. I know what you mean... I smell like CupAJoe right now.
11/8/2012 10:39:28 PM
You spend a couple hours in a coffee shop and wonder why you smell like coffee afterwards????Just making sure I have this correct...

Based on what some others said on the last page, I picked up some Cafe Bustelo from the store today since I was out of coffee and needed some. Just made a pot and it's pretty good. And like others mentioned, it's quite cheap.

Has anybody ever drank Douwe Egberts?
12/9/2012 12:05:40 AM
I unpacked my small drip style coffee maker from college for the first time in 6 years so that my girlfriend could use it. Just to get some coffee in the house i picked up a can of Cafe Bustelo. I'm not a coffee guy, but saw it recommended in this thread. It says that it's espresso style coffee, but can I still use it in a traditional coffee maker? can anyone recommend an amount to water ratio? It's a small 4 cup coffee pot.
12/17/2012 1:35:31 PM
I might have a problem.
12/17/2012 5:18:49 PM
^^Uh, whatever ratio you normally do. It's really a matter of personal taste. It is "espresso ground" I believe (haven't had it in a while), if anything it's a bit too fine for that grind. I do 2tbsp grinds to 8oz of water... and it seems everyone does it differently. I've always heard a good "starting point" to test is 1tbsp - 6oz water.

^^ Let us know when you stop going. That way we can all dump starbucks stock.

I can not drink regular coffee...it has to have baileys or something in it. I will drink pumpkin spice from Starbucks though
2/20/2013 12:28:48 PM
Thinking about getting a Chemex, anyone have experience with them?
2/20/2013 1:22:26 PM
20 days without coffee...and going strong
2/20/2013 1:34:12 PM
I'm not a habitual drinker, but I still rage a little whenever someone only leaves a 1/2 cup of the good coffee in the tin.
2/20/2013 2:50:40 PM
Those Thermos brand vacuum flasks at are better at keeping coffee hot than I thought. I had yesterday's coffee today! Also, yesterday was a bad day.

looking forward to tomorrow morning and relaxing at home with some coffee after sleeping in (i rarely drink coffee during the work-week)
4/4/2013 9:44:42 AM
I've tried almost every Trader Joe's brand and have settled on the house blend. There was some Whole Foods Italian roast I had a while back that was so good but I can't seem to find the right one.
4/4/2013 11:47:50 AM
ive had some caribou costa rican that I brought with me to Gboro that has been good.
4/4/2013 11:54:33 AM
Jubala has a cold-brew that is amazing. I drink straight coffee black with no sugar, but even if you're used to drinking it all done up, it won't need it.
4/5/2013 3:55:08 PM
^ They brew Counter Culture coffee which is awesome.
4/5/2013 4:44:56 PM
My economical coffee of choice is Grandessa German Roast from Aldi

^^I know! I just watched the owner/manager doing a "cupping" of some new coffee; it was pretty fascinating.[Edited on April 5, 2013 at 5:05 PM. Reason : because I was curious: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee_cupping]

can someone recommend a French Press?
1/30/2014 11:54:15 AM
The only french press you will ever need. ]
1/30/2014 12:02:12 PM
do you grind your own beans or buy them pre-ground? I don't think i drink enough coffee at home to justify getting a costly grinder.
1/30/2014 1:46:07 PM
I got a $25 spice grinder from World market that worked fine for grinding my own. You can use pre-ground coffee as well. But all of it really depends on how picky you are with your coffee. I used to be particular, hence owning a few different french presses, etc. Now as long as it's dark in color and contains caffeine, no fucks are given.
1/30/2014 1:52:20 PM
is FP still your preferred method or do just use a drip machine now?
1/30/2014 1:59:49 PM
