i get brown rice sushi all the time from whole foods
6/18/2010 6:41:57 PM
Ah I see.. unfortunately I can't get it where I live.On that note, they should make something in the middle. Sashimi is all protein (and fat). Sushi is a lot more carbs than protein. How about Sushimi (or Sashi), with equal amounts of carbs and protein (or more protein)? I have Japanese stuff only 2-3 times a year, so perhaps something like that exists. (not with name, though!)
6/18/2010 6:50:54 PM
the shashimi plates i get always come with a bowl of sticky rice which i thought was better than regular long grain ricebut yes, most places will give you brown rice if you ask

EVERYBODY IN THIS SHOULD READ THIS!http://www.ivillage.com/eat-dessert/4-b-168921Here is a very interesting (and shocking for some!) excerpt to pique your interest:

I don't like white rice at all, so I usually just get raw strips of fish if I go to a sushi place. it's an expensive unsatisfying meal unless you happen to find one of those rare buffets where the sushi is actually decent.
6/18/2010 7:51:25 PM
^^i agree with that 100%. thats how i lost my first 30ish lbs. however that doesnt apply now :-/

OEPII1, I know it doesn't help you out but you can get brown rice sushi at Harris Teeter. I haven't had it though, since I hate brown rice. My favorite sushi is just some good cuts of raw tuna with ginger, wasabi and soy sauce. I don't need rice or that other crap they heap on that removes some healthiness of the meal.
6/18/2010 9:33:23 PM
sushi means sticky vinegar rice [Edited on June 18, 2010 at 9:52 PM. Reason : at least that is what some japanese people told me.]

I made mine with quinoa instead of brown rice and they turned out great.. I also didn't have any pecans, yellow onion, or green onion. They were still yummmayyyyhttp://www.mayoclinic.com/health/healthy-recipes/NU00301Honestly punchy, you should consider buying that book. I ate almost 3000 calories today, keeping sugar and carbs under wrapsover 200g of proteinand 16 glasses of water, mainly because I ran for an hour tonight

6/19/2010 8:12:18 AM
^pm sentCHECK INand cody i feel really good about this week and ive made some definite progress.however i also feel its not much progress and have decided to add more cardio, i almost completely stopped it (as requested by several people) almost and now think that wasn't a good idea. i feel like i've gained muscle (yay!) but i have lost very little, if any, fat :-/. i also would like to add that the first picture i took for this challenge is a bad baseline pic. i'm CERTAIN that i look a little more cut now than in that pic but i can't seem to get it to show in pics. oh well....with that being said im about to either A. run to the gym and play around with some weights or B. run to the grocery store and pick up some turkey bacon to cook when i get back --[Edited on June 19, 2010 at 9:11 AM. how are you guys losing so much weight in a week? is it really possible to burn that much fat or is it muscle/water loss also? I've had a 15-1700 calorie day every day this week and weight lifted and haven't seemed to budge at all.
6/19/2010 10:02:27 AM
^i'm in the same boat. holding strong at 139-145 (depending on water retention).what are your stats? (i'm sorry if youve already posted them, but i dont feel like going through the last 32 pages lol)
6/19/2010 10:14:31 AM
170lb, 6ft.... I'm guessing around 18% bodyfat but I haven't had it properly tested. I have been eating less than 2000 calories a day for the past two weeks minus a cheat day last saturday, weight lifting 5 days a week and running 2.8 miles once a week.[Edited on June 19, 2010 at 10:25 AM. i did a 6+ mile this morning (posted in the running thread). galloway style. i actually really liked it and didn't feel like death at the end. next week is 8 miles. i like the galloway schedule better than my TNT schedule (as far as mileage). plus i love the walk/run. 1 min run 1 min walk is a little too much walking for me so i'm going to get an interval timer and do like 3:1 or something. i dunno. either way i felt good about myself for doing over 6 miles. i honestly felt like i could have run MORE than 6 (which is obviously good since i'm running a 1/2 marathon in sept!). plus its weird because you can still walk/run as fast as you can just straight run. i don't really understand how it works but, whatever. i'm down. felt better on my shins too although one is starting to bruise a little anyways, while on the target website i found a picture of what i would like my body to look like, please. new goal - look like this:

Give free weights a chance! They help your stabilizing muscles .

some of it is free weights. I had to get up the nerve to do the squats today. I am kind of scared of those. I will get better.]

I have been having diabetic lows (way too much insulin in my system and not enough carbs to be used) lately and I am thinking because I have been WAY more active. I need to figure out this balance. I want lower sugars but they are turning into desperate situations sometimes. I often hate doing the job that my pancreas is supposed to do!]

I did p90x again today. Freaking love it. Pylometrics killed me the other day but it gives me the good sore feeling that makes me want to do it again I haven't eaten much today except water, 1/4 banana, 3 eggs and 4 slices of low fat bacon. Now I'm having a large iced coffee. Dinner is sushi with my dad and bro.
