hehe, nice.

sweet, BTStack supports a mouse on jailbroken iPads. my wife's macbook is nearing the end of its usefulness, so i got her an iPad for casual use, and when she needs to be productive, we can just hook up a mouse and keyboard and have her remote desktop into our windows 7 desktop
5/9/2010 10:44:33 PM
That's pretty awesome, Bluetooth mouse. I wonder if that is any Bluetooth mouse, or just Apple ones only. That might be the first real reason I'd have to jailbreak.[Edited on May 9, 2010 at 10:57 PM. Reason : .]

Jailbroke my iPad 3g today ... so many great apps already in the jailbroken library ... this REALLY IS magical
5/10/2010 7:04:37 AM
^like? I'm debating whether to or not but so far I've not had any really compelling reasons other than "it's awesome" and multi-tasking.
5/10/2010 7:29:41 AM
^^ What jailbreak apps do you recommend? I have been using backgrounder for multi-tasking and that has been working nicely so far
5/10/2010 8:03:25 AM
^ Snap. Another good reason to jailbreak. Mouse + task switching = good.
5/10/2010 8:45:56 AM
installous which gives you most of the better apps available for free ... playing RealRacingHD right now.I have not bothered with any of the "jailbreak only" apps yet ... but I will likely setup the mouse/multitasking/fullforce (allow iphone apps to work in full screen mode on ipad (without pixelation).

Is Spirit still the only iPad jailbreak available right now?
5/10/2010 9:04:25 AM
My favorite part to that video is the music. So incredibly mocking it makes me smile
5/10/2010 9:10:43 AM
Yes I believe Spirit is the only on available currently. Are there any performance issues with apps installed through installous? Also, how do you update installous apps?
5/10/2010 9:29:06 AM
Ok, so I can understand using a mouse with something like iTeleport although using multi touch has not been a problem for me with Mac OS X.But why in the world would anyone want to use a mouse as an input device for the iPad itself?
5/10/2010 3:00:14 PM
I know Steve hates them. I can't blame him. He has failed to make a competent mouse every time he has tried. But they are an excellent input control. Touch simply doesn't offer the precision or control that a mouse does.Having one on such a mobile platform as an iPad could have many good uses. Productivity software, entertainment, Presentations, etc.Though I have to somewhat agree; if it were that important to me, I would have a netbook. Doesn't hurt to have the option, though.
5/10/2010 3:29:42 PM
^^ Two words: keyboard dock.
5/10/2010 3:47:47 PM
maybe someone can design a sturdy case, almost tower like that you could "store" the ipad in!!! oh, and some expansion slots and a fan!

The only thing I've net so far from jailbreaking mine has been a LOT of crashes. Installous sounds useful but I don't have to source with that. What task switcher are you guys using? I tried Kirikae but it crashes every single time.

^ agreed. My only gripe with stylus for drawing is that it doesn't provide the same amount of friction as drawing on paper so its a lot harder to get used to. Using one of those wacom tablets has always sucked for me for drawing...but if I can draw on the same surface that the image is projected that would make things a lot easier[Edited on May 10, 2010 at 7:42 PM. I didn't expect every app to work instantly. I did misread the Gizmodo article and try some apps that didn't have (iPad) after them but even some of the ones they list are working for the iPad crashed for me. Thanks for that compatibility spreadsheet, that is really handy to have.

Does anyone else find it impossible to rate anything in the Netflix app?
5/11/2010 7:22:00 AM
The netflix app is the biggest piece of shit ever. If it wasn't for the simple ability to watch instant movies on your iPad that shit would get 1 star. Perfect example of lazy developers. All they did was load the website in an app.
5/11/2010 8:12:15 AM
Wow ... that bad ehh? I was considering signing up for netflix again, but if thats all they did, then to hell with that. Not really enough content on netflix anyhow to get my moneys worth.
5/11/2010 8:15:35 AM
If you don't already have netflix its not worth getting just for the app. You'd have a more enjoyable experience downloading Air Video and streaming your own library. Especially since it converts MKV's and formats i've never even heard of on the fly.[Edited on May 11, 2010 at 8:16 AM. Reason : .]

http://www.tuaw.com/2010/05/11/add-gps-to-your-jailbroken-wifi-ipad-with-btstack-gps/Now you can add an external bluetooth GPS dongle to your iPad WiFi. I can't imagine it will be too long before they write an app for the iPhone that allows you to share that info with your iPad. At that point, there really will be no difference between the 3G and WiFi versions of the iPad for people with iPhones.

so is anybody tethering their iphone to a (jailbroken) ipad? i think i saw that it was doable now, but that it demolishes the iphone battery.i haven't needed 3G on my wifi ipad yet, but i probably would like to have it at some point
5/12/2010 1:15:39 PM
What kind of tethering are you talking about? I'm not aware of any method that requires a jailbroken iPad. Just the MyWi type programs are the only way I know about. I downloaded MyWi this weekend and tried it out on my iPad. Worked just like it was supposed to. I only tried it out for a couple of minutes, so I can't speak on the battery hit the iPhone took. I never noticed anything too bad when I bluetooth tether to my macbook.
5/12/2010 2:28:31 PM
^^its the device thats connecting to 3g that needs to be jailbroken (iphone) not the device tethered to it.

http://chucksblog.emc.com/chucks_blog/2010/05/what-ipads-did-to-my-family.htmlThis shit is going to dominate -- it will be the main computer most households use at home. Probably will pass netbooks in a year or 2.

Has anyone tried one of the pens out yet? Are there any local stores that usually carry them? I'd really like to try one out after doing a test run with sketchpad today on a job site.
5/13/2010 9:39:40 PM
You just need a frozen sausage.
5/13/2010 9:40:25 PM
For some reason, there's 2-3 threads on tww that refuse to format to the correct width and there's no reason that I can tell. It only shows up on tww. Anyone else experience this?
5/15/2010 10:20:58 AM
too long of a URL
5/15/2010 7:50:29 PM
I feel like the stream of great apps is slowing... Someone recommend a fairly new iPad app to keep my interest
5/15/2010 8:24:40 PM
The problem with Apple is they have this mentality that "If IBM-compatible devices do it, Apple devices don't need to do it."It's like Ford announcing tomorrow that they will no longer put motors in their cars because Chevrolet puts them in their cars.
5/15/2010 9:14:10 PM
Congrats. You win the award for "stupid" on this page. What exactly is it that Apple has decided none of their products need to do? I'm guessing that you're one of the dumbasses on the iPad/flash bandwagon but feel free to explain. I'm really curious as to what I've missed while using Apple products.
