Their service is just fine. You'll enjoy it.

install is tomorrow..did a quick speed test so i have something to compare it to (currently with twc)
6/1/2015 4:55:08 PM
so as expected the tech couldn't get a signalMy house is literally the first house next to both the cross connection box and the VRAD (both are in my yard) yet somehow in that 183ft there is a broken connectionapparently someone is coming tomorrow to fix the lines..and I need to reschedule the installation after thatfuck them[Edited on June 2, 2015 at 5:09 PM. Perhaps someone didn't call 811 first?
6/3/2015 8:57:34 AM
^perhaps So the lineman has been out front working since around 8 this morning. He just came to the door to tell me that there is no way to use the buried line, it is cut somewhere between my house and the box. They are running a new temporary line from the box to my house right now
6/3/2015 10:41:37 AM
"temporary"that line will sit there for months
6/3/2015 11:37:26 AM
i went and ran the line under my deck so its out of the way at least..called and scheduled a tech to finish install, and they are supposed to arrive between 1-3 today. I still have yet to receive a call ..
6/3/2015 2:57:34 PM
Meanwhile those with TWC advanced DVR are recording 5 different shows and still flipping channels on any TV.

^^i am fed up with twc...the past month I have had complete service outage at least a few hours every single day.. Never has it been this unreliable. Not to mention there were always random charges when the bill showed up.Not saying none of this will occur with ATT..but at least i can yell at someone else for a little whilemy main concern with u verse is picture quality, i watch tv on a 110" screen and I've heard their tv service can look like shit sometimes...hoping it won't bother me too much[Edited on June 3, 2015 at 9:38 PM. Reason : oh yeah...no tech showed up. called and now have it scheduled for tomorrow morning]
6/3/2015 9:12:10 PM
I will say I *think* the picture quality is better with TWC...but that's an untrained eye on a year old $1300 65" Samsung LCD.
6/3/2015 10:53:59 PM
^ I agree. I haven't done a rigorous analysis, but TWC (maybe it was my older HD DVR?) had very subpar picture quality. My Uverse seems to be better. And I have worked professionally in the AV world... If picture quality is your highest concern, I think Dish/DirecTV are the best in this area.

my directv over the last 7 years has gone out less than once a year and they were all really serious storms. you can get directv without a contract, but your first stint will always be with one if you're using leased equipment. I only had 3 years under contract over the 7 I had it and the 3rd was because I used the free moving service. having said that, the picture quality advantage went away when comcast went to all digital switched cable. TWC is doing similar in raleigh. uverse still compresses the hell out of their tv and it's about the worst looking service out there, down with dish network. I recently switched to comcast for the double play and all the cool stuff having a cable card enabled.if you aren't using att gigapower, att is a pretty weak offering, which is why they bought/are buying directv[Edited on June 4, 2015 at 9:20 AM. Reason : nearly every bar you watch sports in is running directv]
6/4/2015 9:19:07 AM
finally installedgettting good speed over wired connection but using wireless i am not breaking 1.5mbps..not sure what is wrongtrying a new modem/gateway
6/4/2015 11:25:45 AM
^do you really need that much internet speed? just curious..that's all.
6/4/2015 11:43:00 AM
wireless internet works great now..was conflicting with my wireless HDMI setupdefinitely dont need that much speed..but I just picked up a 4k tv and its nice to be able to stream in 4k while I'm downloading torrents or recording several hd streams..and I'm still saving 30 a month over my 20/2 plan with twci just figured why not..since its available to me. After a year i may drop to a lower planpicture quality looks excellent on the projector, might have more to say about this later though..[Edited on June 4, 2015 at 12:07 PM. Reason : i must say that it is noticeably faster for just about everything..didnt think i would notice tbh]
6/4/2015 12:06:21 PM
ah ok...you're definitely doing a lot more than most people. that's why i was curious.
6/4/2015 12:15:17 PM
cut my service back down to Basic TV and Max Internet (12 down). U-Verse requires you to still pay the DVR activation fee if you want to watch shows that you have already recorded. That's a huge scam and $15 a month extra i could be saving. But aside from that i'm paying right around $100. Once I polish off my DVR backlog i'll probably drop the DVR and HD-Tech fees ($25 total) and hook my antenna back up. But by then, knowing me, i'll be itching for fall TV and end up signing back up for everything
6/5/2015 9:12:22 AM
So i dropped my internet from Max Plus (16 Down) to Max (12 Down) thinking it wouldn't be such a huge hit.Regular speed tests with Max Plus i was getting 16-18 on every device. Now that i've got Max i'm having buffering issues on WatchESPN, some as well on Netflix and my speed tests are showing anything from 7-10 down. What the hell would cause them to drop well below the advertised speed?
6/8/2015 9:25:05 AM
^its a good way to get you back up to a more expensive plan..give you the impression that 12 won't work..maybe they didn't think you'd run a speed test
6/8/2015 4:17:04 PM
My internet speeds were dying.. Getting 4 Mbps down as of this morning so i got on ATT chat and after explaining that i had done all the usual soft resets, power offs, and various speed test results both wired and wireless the representative says something like "hmm, i am accessing your gateway and will look to see if i can make any changes". Two minutes later he asks me to run the speed tests again. Instantly i'm back up to 15 Mpbs on all devices. It's like they purposely crippled my speeds to see if i would cave and sign back up for the higher plan. Now I wonder if he put a time limit on my service to crap out again in 3-6 months
6/9/2015 6:50:54 PM
ok so I have been with u-verse for a week now and I can say that I like it much better than twc. Even if the internet wasn't faster I would still like it better than twc. With twc there were always a couple channels that had issues, and they weren't always the same channels. I would have had to pay for whole house dvr to record 4 things at once which I can now do for free. the u verse app is actually useful as opposed to TWC app which never was able to connect to my DVRone thing i dont like about u verse is the remote layout..i suppose thats something I will get used to.another thing about it is that the guide on the television doesnt have a little icon to denote if something is new or if its a rerun.. This is really annoying especially considering their mobile app has a nice little green "new" icon when something is first airing. Wish there was a way to see that on the television...seems like a major oversightspeeds are still where they should be:[Edited on June 11, 2015 at 4:19 PM. Reason : .]
6/11/2015 4:18:26 PM
Which internet plan are you on?I can't get anything faster than their 45Mbps plan where I'm at.
6/11/2015 5:39:09 PM
I'm on their 75mbps plan
6/11/2015 5:58:08 PM
Yeah they don't offer anything over 45 in Cary (Raleigh too I'd guess). I was curious so I speed tested.. My phone said 16-18 which is what I have but the computer said 9-10. Wassup wit dat?[Edited on June 12, 2015 at 5:04 PM. Reason : \/ interesting... ]
6/12/2015 4:40:30 PM
^I am in raleigh
6/12/2015 4:56:51 PM
I'm in Hedingham and they are slowly having it become available back up into my area...I will probably jump to gigapower (from twc) once it's ready
6/16/2015 8:38:30 PM
Fiber is being installed in my neighborhood, I wish I knew how long it takes to install and be ready for implementation. Got 2 weeks before my contract is up with Dish and I'm ready to go ahead and make the change.
6/18/2015 2:02:19 PM
^I'm sure it varies wildly but fiber was installed in my neighborhood about 10 months ago and I'm still waiting on it to be an option for my house.
6/23/2015 3:10:39 PM
Renewed with Comcast. Couldn't get the $34.99 promotional rate but got the $59.99 rate for 12 months for 125/10. Comes with basic cable so they have to send me a box even if I don't use it. I don't know why everyone's so excited about gigabit. It's great and all but they're all > $150. I can't justify that for internet.
6/23/2015 3:19:55 PM
I can when my job pays for half of my internet
6/23/2015 5:16:39 PM
6/23/2015 10:19:36 PM
ATT actually buried a new line last week and the guy came today to switch over to use the new line..no more temporary line running through my backyard. I didn't expect them to take care of it so quickly..on another note, I got my first bill and it was over $40 more than was expected, was fixed after I made a phone call but the customer service rep couldn't give me any reason for why the bill was off..guess i will be watching out for ATT bs on my bill from now on
6/24/2015 4:05:08 PM
AT&T U-Verse, [i]including]/i] Gigapower, is now live in my neighborhood. Now I need to decide if it's worth the $70/mo for the internet. I think they lock me into a contract...when is Google Fiber gonna be operational?
8/28/2015 8:48:55 AM
AT&T's internet network has been down in my neighborhood (600+ homes) for 9 fucking days at this point.WTF
9/17/2015 2:09:35 PM
locked myself into another year of U300, Max Plus 18Mbps, and Showtime for $119/month.took a bit longer this time. I used to have a direct number straight to retention but had to go through the level 1 associate who was trying to tell me there were no promotions and the best she could do was upgrade me to U450 for $145/mo. After numerous nos and saying i was hanging up to schedule TWC (had an offer from them for $89) she transferred me to another girl who was quick to say they couldn't match that price but could give me the offer above. For reference I was paying $103 for U-Basic and Max 12Mbps. I could have had that lower but i kept my DVR and HD activated which was $25 of that total.
9/18/2015 8:38:08 AM
The deal currently being offered in my neighborhood is the U200 package, including HBO and GigaPower internet (1Gbps download speed) for $120/mo, price locked for 3 yrs. Gigapower by itself is offered at $70/mo.
9/18/2015 10:26:09 AM
Just ordered uVerse after suffering through TWC's shitty service for 6-8 months. Can't wait to get back.Got U300 (Showtime, STARZ etc), 24Mbps, HD, 3 Months HBO + Cinemax (but will get it for 12 assuming that trick still works), Total Home DVR + 1 wireless receiver, all for $116 + tax, plus a $150 Visa card plus all fees are waived for ordering online. Pretty great deal IMO.
12/16/2015 1:47:57 PM
that's pretty much what i have. i think i'm at $109+tax.
12/16/2015 2:58:25 PM
dang so that trick where you could get hbo/cinemax free for 3 months, then drop it, then add it back for 3 more free months over and over doesn't appear to work anymore [Edited on March 19, 2016 at 1:14 PM. Reason : u450 it is!]
3/19/2016 1:05:33 PM
Those fuckers changed my bill from $121 to $181 over a period of two months, then it took me two months to notice. Then when I cancelled service and sent their equipment back they left it turned on and tried to bill for two MORE months. I had to file an FTC complaint to get the bill fixed.
3/19/2016 5:21:24 PM
Moving to a new house in May will have the choice between TWC and ATT seems like both arent great options but who seems to have the better deal now? I have never had ATT so I dont know what kind of speeds you can actually get versus advertised. I have the 300 Mbit TWC service now and can just about max that out. Also concerned about ATT having a data cap.
3/21/2016 8:43:49 AM
If you're going to get TV service get uVerse. MUCH better service, and I think the promotional rates are a little better. TWC's software/boxes blow goats. I guess they haven't felt the need to update the shit in 5+ years. If all you want is internet TWC is the clear winner. MUCH faster speeds for, and for less $.If you want both, then you're either getting shitty TV service or 25-75 Mbs internet instead of 200-300+ Mbs. [Edited on March 21, 2016 at 9:55 AM. Reason : But if you're talking data caps then I assume you aren't getting TV service ]
3/21/2016 9:54:15 AM
I loved UVERSE when I had it years ago.AT&T is currently installing lines in my neighborhood. I'm guessing it's their gigapower/uverse infrastructure. I hope. I hope. I hope.
3/21/2016 12:39:16 PM
Just be aware that AT&T requires you to may $30 more if you DON'T want them to scan ALL of your internet traffic to sell your information to advertisers:http://adage.com/article/digital/t-u-verse-ad-tracking-discount-subscribers/297208/This is also in the fine print when you subscribe.
3/21/2016 12:55:37 PM
ha, privacy.
3/21/2016 1:05:41 PM
^ First I've heard of that, but reading through that article, isn't that:1) Just for Gigapower service, not standard uVerse internet?2) Not completely in the fine print, given you have to select the $70 service or the $100 service sans web browsing tracking?
3/21/2016 1:05:59 PM
^ it's definitely for gigapower, not sure how this is different than Uverse internet regular. At least a year ago, they didn't make it obvious where the $30 discount was coming from, and it was still worded in a cryptic way, so I'd consider that fine print.
