Now that football season is right around the corner it looks like most of the ignorance has returned to ST...I don't post much but I read daily and it's always interesting to see people popping back up who don't have have a clue.

Rivers was the exception, not the rule. There are not a lot of true freshmen qb's that come in and do what he did, much less for 4 years. If he really is that good we'll have him for his solid years anyway, and he can still stay and play for 4 seasons, don't assume he'll redshirt and be in the nfl and not stick around. If he isn't ready then it isn't smart to feed him to the dogs and risk injury etc.
8/20/2008 5:38:22 PM
The really key point here is that every QB is not Rivers.Even every star QB recruit is not Rivers. It's not really fair to compare every friggin' recruit we get to a once-in-a-lifetime kind of talent.
8/20/2008 5:40:14 PM
im not comparing the players, im comparing the opportunity.my only thinking is that maybe glennon stunk it up in practice? i mean Wilson hasn't played a down either, so why is TOB waiting to announce Evans as the starter? Spurrier knows now that it will be evans, and now that little prick will start preparing for...the evans...threat? there will be no justification in playing Wilson at USC now unless somethign happens to evans
8/20/2008 5:51:28 PM
i'm thinking Glennon made some bad decisions and didn't have the composure needed running the 2 minute and 4 minutes offenses.
8/20/2008 6:03:33 PM
wow,this surprises me
8/20/2008 6:08:18 PM
daniel evans is ice...he will be fine if we can get an OFFENSIVE LINE this year that will allow us to RUN THE BALL over 100 yards a game...our offense isnt built on throwing the deep ball so everyone hating on his arm stfu
8/20/2008 6:20:17 PM
8/20/2008 6:29:55 PM
8/20/2008 6:35:22 PM
8/20/2008 6:39:21 PM
I like the decision, let Glennon develop...Plus our wide receivers are some of the tallest in the ACC, so Evans jump balls should work nicely
8/20/2008 6:48:02 PM
8/20/2008 6:57:20 PM
with the qbs we have on the roster, if glennon was ready then tob would have started him... he is obviously not ready, thus of course it is the right decision... he is the one at practice and the one getting paid to make the decision/discussion
8/20/2008 7:02:33 PM
8/20/2008 7:14:19 PM
Evans had a shot and we know what he can do in game situations. Try someone new please. See what Wilson does in game situations, if it isn't any better, then rotate the 2.
8/20/2008 7:30:29 PM
8/20/2008 7:40:28 PM
thats just retarded, you've obviously never watched any of the QBs you listed play if you think that...even the best Offensive Line is going to make mistakes and force the QB to move around and leave the pocket occasionally to avoid a sack and/or allow the receivers to get open[Edited on August 20, 2008 at 8:03 PM. Reason : .]
8/20/2008 7:55:12 PM
^^^ you assume that Evans cant be any better in his senior season...dont get me wrong - I have plenty of doubts on Evans still. But I (realistically) have more doubts about Wilson in game situations than Evans...
8/20/2008 7:59:52 PM
^^^ uninformed comment.
8/20/2008 8:08:12 PM
8/20/2008 8:09:25 PM
8/20/2008 8:11:46 PM
ooops
8/20/2008 8:23:31 PM
just stop throwing interceptions... granted it's going to happen, and it's not always Daniel's fault, but there were a few times when I had no idea what could have been possibly going through his mind when he let the ball go. You can probably attribute this to O-line play, if they can keep the pressure off better, I think we'll see less turnovers.
8/20/2008 8:23:55 PM
well lets just hope that SC's O-line plays like shit and their QB is running for his life the whole game throwing picks.... The thing that scares me is that their D is better and our O-line rolls in already looking at an uphill battle...We need positive turnover ratio, dammit...
8/20/2008 8:38:24 PM
^^Agreed, but it's not even so much the interceptions. I can live with some from time to time. It's those damn pick six's. We'll be in the red zone in position to score and he'll chunk it and it gets run back. Those swings of a potential 14 points are huge and kill me! See the NC game from last year.
8/20/2008 8:51:31 PM
I like the move to redshirt Glennon. We are picked to finish last so there is no real pressure, except from the nutso fringe fanbase who are delusional... Let the kid learn the offense for a year, get stronger and we'll have an extra year from him later on when TOB has more of his players in place.
8/20/2008 9:09:27 PM
also louisville
8/20/2008 9:29:25 PM
8/20/2008 9:42:56 PM
and he loves nc state...
8/20/2008 9:57:02 PM
I said its great... to be... ancstatewolfpack
8/20/2008 10:27:01 PM
^^^I didn't say the QB should be faster than the defense, retard, I said the QB should be able to outrun the slowest defensive players (i.e. the defensive lineman) at least some of the time otherwise they are just going to get sacked constantly like Evans does...obviously the QB is not going to be faster than the linebackers or DBs...good job on the reading comprehension
8/20/2008 10:33:31 PM
Its not about being fast; its about being able to feel the pressure, taking a couple of steps to avoid it, and making the pass. You dont really have to be faster than anybody, good pocket passers just know how to evade with a couple steps.[Edited on August 20, 2008 at 10:44 PM. Reason : ie: Peyton Manning, Tom Brady]
8/20/2008 10:43:33 PM
^^ i'm not sure where you fall in his statement.
8/20/2008 10:48:32 PM
8/20/2008 11:20:42 PM
8/20/2008 11:36:26 PM
also remember that when a defensive end, lets pretend he runs a 5.0 40, is running at the qb nearly unblocked is moving at full speed... of course the qb isnt going to be able to fully get away from said DE because he has to accelerate first... unless your last name is vick you arnt going to be able to get away from the d line consistently
8/20/2008 11:39:47 PM
bottom line: daniel evans is not an acc qb.he has one throw in his arsenal.
8/20/2008 11:44:12 PM
yes and using that same logic, a QB only has to take 2-3 steps in a direction perpindicular to the oncoming path of the D line men within the pocket to avoid the pressure.
8/20/2008 11:46:22 PM
this is true unless said lineman is coming at the qb from the side... a lot harder to see the guy coming... also bottom line is Evans should be able at this point in his career to spot a huge fuckin guy (brian mahoney voice in boondock saints) coming right at him regardless of the angle
8/20/2008 11:50:28 PM
8/20/2008 11:55:33 PM
if Evans is our starter at Williams-Brice, who wants my tickets? I'll pay you to take them.
8/21/2008 2:32:58 AM
i'd take a plea bargain right now to lose by a touchdown just to avoid the possibility of getting embarrased with the ENTIRE country watching. This is the one game everybody in the country will watch.
8/21/2008 2:42:52 AM
8/21/2008 4:15:14 AM
I don't understand this philosophy:"That's fine he is red-shirted. We are already picked to finish last so let's just wait until next year when maybe everyone is better and then he can play"If everyone thought that way, there would be no point to go to the game. Might as well not even play, just start preparing for next year.TOB and his staff want to win. The fans want to win. Put the player on the field that gives you the best chance to win NOW. You can believe that is what the coaching staff are doing. Obviously Glennon was not the best man on the field for this year. TOB already stated that he had not adjusted as fast as he would have liked. Who's to say Glennon will even start next year? They will go through the spring and fall and will be competing for the position again. Likewise, in another year or 2 we will have new QB recruits who may even be competing for the position. That's why a lot of guys transfer. Remember when Burke came in, everyone was gungho about him starting and that he was AWESOME. Now he is transferring b/c it just didn't work out.
8/21/2008 6:33:09 AM
Way To Go, Matt Sims!!!http://deadspin.com/5039648/what-could-he-have-possibly-done-wrongSuspended for four games. It was down to us and Louisville for this kid. I guess he chose right.

this conversation is retardedevans isn't horrifically slow in a foot race, he just doesn't have the vision find receivers while running full tiltthe drunk sorority girls at the top of section 15 could see that

Evans is garbage... and dont give me that "you dont know any better than TOB" bullshit otherwise theres no point in talking about sports if you cant second guess players/coaches decisions. They do make mistakes sometimes you know? I am sure the coaches/GMs who drafted Ryan Leaf, Brian Bosworth, and Tony Mandarich and let Brett Favre leave Atlanta and the college coaches that didnt recruit Jerry Rice, Brian Westbrook etc "knew better than you" as well. In my opinion Evans is pure shit
