I thought the Decemberists show was pretty fucking great. I wasn't the biggest fan of their new album, but it was clearly made to be played live. Shara Worden = It was also cool that they came back out and played nearly a full set after playing the entire album.
6/5/2009 5:33:37 PM
yea, Shara can sing her ass off. Though at some point I thought she was going to completely freak the fuck out and John Travolta was gonna have to stab her in the chest 3 times.
6/5/2009 6:19:34 PM
I saw the Easy Star All Stars at Cat's Cradle last night. Great show. Played a lot of their Sgt. Pepper's covers, a few from Radiodread and Dub Side of the Moon, and some originals.

Honestly, this is the 2nd time I've seen Grizzly Bear and both times I've been disappointed. The first time wasn't their fault, as The Papercuts fucking suck and killed the crowd before the Griz had a chance.Last night, they came on strong near the end, but overall it was a very "by the book" show. Their musicianship was on point, as usual, but my god.... how about doing a little more than just going through the motions when you're playing in front of a packed house. I was very let down, especially as much as I've grown to love the album. Now it's time to go see Jenny Lewis.
6/12/2009 8:05:53 PM
ugh, yeah, i was bored throughout most of the show.
6/12/2009 9:19:14 PM
i enjoyed it like i have all of their shows. their music does enough for me to be thoroughly entertained.i was also impressed with all the random shit blondy bear was doing on different instruments. am i right in thinking that he was play that clarinet through an octave shifting pedal for a number of the songs?
6/12/2009 9:58:59 PM
aqualung dude was pretty cool.

Toubab Krewe is playing at the art museum on Saturday at 8
6/16/2009 11:03:01 PM
^^ I would have liked to hear "Up on Your Leopard" again. Otherwise awesome show. Krug has been my favorite musician the past few years.
6/17/2009 3:23:27 AM
yeah, he's pretty amazing. while we're at it, i would've rather heard apollo and the buffalo... than black swan, but whatever.
6/17/2009 10:04:32 AM
aw man. "black swan" is one of my faves from the new album. i was pretty excited they opened with that.
6/17/2009 10:59:57 AM
Toubab Krewe is great.....I'll definitely be there, thought I'm not sure why they chose the art museum....didn't even know they had shows there
