Just sit in a box, free food and beer. Highly recommend it.

Yurt is the perfect example of why I don't obsess over rankings and stars. Also, Gott might get a job in his Turkish league since it doesn't appear they play a lick of defense there, either

i think yurt is a bit of an exception though ^. obviously he's been disappointing and hasn't lived up to what we had hoped and expected. but i think ranking/evaluating foreign players is much harder than evaluating your typical US high school recruits. not that you should take every recruit's ranking as gospel...but yurt is more the exception than the rule.

Bambard had high rankings out of high school right?
3/2/2017 8:41:54 AM
^Kicker rankings are kind of hit or miss. They have "kicking gurus" who host camps/competitions and rank kids based on performances. Bambard being a top 10 kicker on one publication could mean he had one good competition or he just competed a lot, not really as clear cut as other positions.I think Yurt has shown flashes, but it's fairly rare that a big man goes from international ball to being super effective right away. I always felt like the best case for Yurt was to start slow, finish strong, and then come back for a really dominant 2nd season. Clearly he didn't finish strong and now a season 2 looks iffy. I'm also not sure if he just didn't fit in the system as well as we hoped. Remember, Yurt was suppose to be an offensive/rebounding guy and we knew he would be a liability on defense. I think pairing him up with Abu was a bad match and pairing him with Anya wasn't a viable option given speed. I could see him pairing well with Freeman/Hicks next year to let the other guy focus on defense and rebounding.

Yeah, he's going to be good after he gets a little stronger and more experienced. While he certaintly didn't live up to the hype, he moves very well for a seven footer and has alot of skill.LOL, jrb coming in here trying to get praise for saying he isn't going to be any good.

i mean hell...might as well bring up every post from the preseason where a lot of us said we thought we'd be a top 25 team and laugh at ourselves for being so wrong.

Best 7 ft. freshman we have had in forever. If you had expectations that met the media/draft predictions, then yes you are disappointing. If you wanted videos of his game play in Europe, then you probably feel like we got the same guy who was playing over there, because I honestly didnt see a difference in his game play between time with the 2 teams.Time to hit the weights, work on positioning, and mental toughness to not make silly meaningless fouls when out of position.

Oh you know what my expectations were ? What exactly were you expecting? 20&10 first year?

If he doesn't transfer I could see him improve. That being said, he needs to get stronger under the basket.

i don't think he'll transfer and sit out a year. he'll either just go back to Turkey or somewhere in Europe and play professionally or he'll stick around and hope he's NBA ready next year.

Bttt for the current season

^Looked pretty good tonight. Still getting comfortable, but he did his job.
11/22/2017 9:47:39 PM
Yeah, he has looked very promising on the offensive end running the pick and roll.
11/22/2017 9:55:06 PM
I like him a lot more as a rotation player doing pick and rolls than I do as a key option posting up but I still wish he'd learn to pass instead of trying to go up for a 20% shot
