Don't forget Stoglin for Maryland.
3/24/2012 7:28:42 AM
3/24/2012 7:32:25 AM
Lol @ stoglin. Dude shoots like half his teams shots, of course he is gonna average 20+ ppg.only way stoglin wins is if he averages 30 points.
3/24/2012 8:38:16 AM
hopefully he realizes after that game that he could use another seasons to improve some weaknesses and get stronger. i wonder if he'll drop back out of the first round in the mock drafts after that game? he had 18 points, but showed that he still has trouble against bigger, taller guys, which is all he'll see in the NBA (7/16 shooting).
3/24/2012 11:27:45 AM
Plz to stay, CJL.
3/24/2012 11:29:33 AM
It's encouraging that he made the comment how our recruiting and returning pieces will be a big factor in his decision. No matter what, I do think he cares about the school.
3/24/2012 12:28:32 PM
he was apparently having cramping issues again last night, he was on his back having his legs massaged on the sideline. that won't fly when you have to play 82+ games a season plz2stay
3/24/2012 1:06:09 PM
^That's not a problem. He would not play 82+ games a year his first season.
3/24/2012 1:13:29 PM
3/24/2012 1:58:13 PM
I think it is a stupid move to leave if he isn't getting guaranteed money. If he isn't a projected lottery pick I think he should and will stay

Holy shit i didnt realize the NCAA changed the rules so drastically. They really don't give a fuck about the athletes, these rules SCREW THEM. The early entry withdrawal deadline is now April 10th.So theres no more of this dont get an agent, go to draft camps, decide to return for junior season.I think this may hurt our chances of retaining him, because he wont get as good of feedback. But i guess it could also help since he won't be playing in a bunch of camps and eating the inferior college athletes.
3/24/2012 5:46:49 PM
Yup they fuck over kids now so coaches know who they should recruit.
3/24/2012 6:53:36 PM
3/24/2012 7:46:58 PM
He has to develop an outside shot. He is too small to just pound inside in the nba.

Keep you from coming back to college.
3/25/2012 4:48:20 PM
And if you do come back, but talk to teams and shit after the april 10th deadline, I'm sure your eligibility will be adversely affected.
3/25/2012 4:57:29 PM

Last year Reggie Johnson of the Miami Hurricanes declared for the draft to test the waters but did not sign with an agent. He later was allowed to returned to Miami. This is what he's talking about.[Edited on March 25, 2012 at 5:34 PM. Reason : .]
3/25/2012 5:33:39 PM
I understand how the system works.I'm saying there's a third option beyond go/stay on April 10th.1. You put your name in for the draft, but decide by the NCAA deadline that there's not enough interest. You withdraw your name and return to college.2. You put your name in for the draft, and are satisfied with the interest. You do not contact the NCAA on their deadline, and you go to the NBA.3. You put your name in for the draft, and are unsure of what to do on the NCAA deadline. You declare you're withdrawing then, even though it's 19 days before the NBA deadline. If you decide to return to college, you've followed NCAA procedure and can return. If you decide somewhere between the NCAA and NBA deadlines that you ARE going to go to the NBA, what the hell is the NCAA going to do to you? They can ban you from college all they want, but you were going to go anyway. My point is that having a different deadline to tell college you're returning is irrelevant, because there are no consequences for lying about it.
3/25/2012 6:06:14 PM
Sure you could do that, but you better not be talking to scouts/gms/etc. after that deadline or the NCAA won't look to kindly on that if you decide to return to school.
3/25/2012 6:23:45 PM
and how pissed would the fans be if someone were to be all "I'm staying in school for another year, sike"[Edited on March 25, 2012 at 6:33 PM. Reason : .]
3/25/2012 6:33:21 PM
the best way to do it is not declare with the early period. wait till the late one and that way you get to do the NBA workouts?? right
3/25/2012 6:35:05 PM
No.The early period is the new NCAA deadline. Once that date passes you cannot be in the NBA discussion or risk getting tossed by the NCAA.it was done to alleviate coaches with players and recruits waiting and waiting and waiting for the NBA deadline and not knowing what they were going to do.
3/25/2012 6:39:51 PM
10-4. didn't they allow peeps to declare not sign and workout at the combine? i guess now they only get advice form the NBA Undergraduate Advisory Committee. hope he stays, i think he'd do nothing but up and complete his game by working on his mid-range game. it's hard to pass up the money and State's recent history of underclassman going pro hasn't been great. you gots to be in that lottery!
3/25/2012 8:44:36 PM
Finesses your jump shot?Lol you better work on that Blake Griffin power jam, bro.[Edited on March 26, 2012 at 9:50 AM. Reason : sa]

PLZ to stay CJ. ACC POY next season!
3/26/2012 10:59:37 AM
he's a second rounder by most of the experts.
3/28/2012 11:18:43 PM
Why does he get hate for a midrange game when he has a skilled and unstopable faceup game?
3/28/2012 11:51:13 PM
because his face-up game would be stoppable in the nba, and he couldn't solely rely on that[Edited on March 28, 2012 at 11:55 PM. Reason : and "hate" is a strong word]
3/28/2012 11:54:06 PM
because literally every team in the nba has a 7' stiff on their bench as good as jeff withey who will throw his shit into the 5th row if he plays as a 4 at his current weight
3/28/2012 11:55:30 PM
Weight is not really important. He just has to be able to shoot better. The college game conditions us to really bad shooting. NBA players shoot much better.
3/28/2012 11:59:57 PM
that's what we're trying to say, coach. he can't rely on his face-up game at his current weight. he'll get thrown around. he has to be able to shoot better.

Gott was on mark and mike this a.m., and spoke a little bit about Leslie. Said it's a decision he and his family have to make, and the staff and team will be 100% supportive of his decision. He added that he felt Leslie has nowhere near reached his potential and would gain a lot with another year, and then spoke again about how Leslie has to make the decision that's best for him. (IOW, he didn't come off as desperate for him to stay even if what i typed out might seem that way). Also said that Leslie was extremely torn about the decision. That, to me, is better news than I'd expected. If he's torn, I think there's a good chance he stays, or at most does the 'test the waters' thing.
3/29/2012 9:46:50 AM
I don't like hearing that he is "torn". I was hoping that he was thinking that staying and becoming a lottery pick next year (after picking up an ACC POY, or at least 1st team all-ACC) would be the obvious choice.
3/29/2012 9:50:19 AM
I don't think it's close to the "obvious choice" for someone who has seen all too well how easy it is for a player to get hurt if he stays.I'm glad Gott seems to be taking the stance he is. I think if he begged Leslie to stay, it may just signal to Leslie that he's better than he really is, and if he's that good, he's going to be a star in the NBA. By Gott stepping back and saying, "you need to develop more, but it's your choice", it should tell Leslie that he's speaking the truth, and not just tearing him down to get him to feel like he has to stay. That paragraph was far more convoluted and rambling than I intended.

Gottfried was on 620 discussing this and said that CJ is "seriously conflicted" about leaving.
