Kobe has played well this potseason and its clear he was sandbagging quite a bit during the regular season but it's still absurd how much attention he gets while Gasol gets none. The Perkins injury definitely hurts a LOT. I won't say Boston can't win, but they are certainly huge underdogs in this game right now. They had no business losing game 3 and that will probably end up costing them the series. And LOL to whoever said earlier that the homecourt team is at a disadvantage in the Finals. Yeah it sure does suck to have game 6 and 7 at home haha. Boston looked great last night on the road in a series clincher. And also i just spotted someone comment that they knew Glenn Davis would be better than Tyrus Thomas.... ??!??! Tyrus is one of the best young forwards in the game right now and Davis has been one of the lowest rated rotation players in the league the past three seasons. He has some nights where he gets going around the hoop but he doesn't produce consistent efforts and his overall numbers are pretty poor.[Edited on June 16, 2010 at 5:39 PM. Reason : a]

Glen Davis has had one big game in his NBA career. It happened to be this series. After that game, he and Nate were basically acting like they had already won the title. 7 Game Series you dumbass Shrek and Donkey. And I don't know how much sandbagging Kobe did in the regular season, or how much he was legitimately hurt. And a topic came up last night when we were watching the game. You know how the last few years, teams have rested Shaq a good bit throughout the regular season, with the hopes of having him healthy for a playoff run? I wonder if the Lakers should consider doing that with Bynum, even though he's only like 24 years old. I think they could certainly make the playoffs without him, and if he could give you 30 minutes a game in the playoffs instead of 15, that would be HUGE.Course he might be playing in Toronto next year, which would make it a moot point.]
6/16/2010 5:59:07 PM
He is injury prone no matter when you rest or play him. theres just no way around that.I've said it time and time again, gasol is the best player on that team...and he gets NO attention/credit.

Rally, Gasol gets no attention? I've heard numerous commentators say he's the best big man in the ENTIRE league. I'm also in the minority when I comes to Kobe being the league's best, (I think he's second), but you're pretty much on your own if you don't think he is one of the all-time greats.Go Lakers
6/16/2010 6:15:25 PM
Arguing that Lebron is better than Kobe isn't retarded, its a good argument...I think its premature, but its a legit argumentArguing Kobe isn't the best player on the Lakers on the other hand, is retarded
6/16/2010 6:16:33 PM
1 assist shy of a triple double from their PF.and in game 5 he STILL had a double double. he is so consistent.
6/16/2010 6:17:40 PM
^^exactly
6/16/2010 6:18:30 PM
I've said all along he's the 3rd best Shooting guard of all-time and you'd be crazy to argue otherwise. He's never really been one of the ELITE players in history over the course of a single season (McGrady in his prime was definitively better than Kobe in his) but he's had amazing durability and played at a high level for so long that he's amongst the elite in terms of his career. That's really not even a controversial statement I just made, I'm not sure why people would argue with it let alone describe me as a Kobe "hater".Perhaps, the Kobe "lovers" are the ones who are misguided.
6/16/2010 6:19:20 PM
Gasol is a beast...he was a beast in Memphis...but he's no Kobe^damn you're all on T-Mac's dick again...funny since T-Mac never won shit, and the Rockets seemed to play much better without him
6/16/2010 6:19:32 PM
^ Well, he definitely wasn't a top ten player in the NBA during the regular season. He's playing at a much higher level now, but if he's top ten he's on the fringe he's not legitimately on par with a Lebron, Howard, or Wade. He simply can't produce like that anymore. T-Mac was one of the most dominant wing players the league has ever seen for a few seasons, its silly to argue that he wasn't better than Kobe a few years ago. He certainly isn't good anymore his career was derailed by back injuries years ago.I think any rational person would agree that Gasol & Kobe have been equally productive in this series and since Gasol has to do it against Garnett and Kobe is against the Allens I'd give the nod for MVP to Gasol. However, Gasol has absolutely no shot at the MVP and Kobe has all but wrapped it up simply because he's better looking, more marketable, and people assign irrational value to scoring. In fact, right here I can show you that the two have been equally productive (okay so Gasol is a bit ahead of Kobe, but it's close)http://dberri.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/nbafinalsaftergamefive.png

^ Ray Allen has been terrible in this series, are you watching the games? I can't imagine coming up with any different conclusions...
6/16/2010 6:38:33 PM
Yeah, he sure was terrible in Game 2 when he singlehandedly literally PRODUCED A WIN by hitting an NBA Finals record 8 3-pointers to give the Lakers their first homecourt loss in the playoffs this seasonBut according to Beri's dumbass, SHELDEN FUCKING WILLIAMS has been a better player in the playoffs than Jesus Shuttlesworth[Edited on June 16, 2010 at 6:42 PM. 6/16/2010 6:40:35 PM
you dont understand statistics and never will so its pointless to argue with you.The point of it is not to take a person who has played 20 minutes and extrapolate the data. The point is to evaluate the people who have actually played.Ray produced a large percentage of a win in Game 2 and produced a larger percentage of a loss in game 3. That's a net zero. He's also been pretty terrible in the other 3 games that chart measures.I'm not going to argue with you anymore, you've proven you can't handle grown up discussions that require comprehension. I wish I didn't hate average minded people so much, but they fucking drive me crazy.

6/16/2010 6:52:42 PM
Fisher has played poorly and Odom has been (barely) productive. Of course Odom is ranked higher. Again, are you watching the games? Fisher has been missing everything and fouling constantly. That isn't a positive impact. Odom on the other hand has been alright (though MUCH less productive than he normally is).
6/16/2010 7:03:15 PM
Odom hasn't done shit with the exception of 2 games where he played above average...otherwise he's settled for jumpers, hasn't contested any shots at all, has given up on plays all series...he is way too lazy (kinda like T-Mac) for anyone other than you to claim he's played a better series than Fisher or ArtestFisher hasn't done shit with the exception of 2 games where he played awesome...not only is he not afraid to take the big shot, but he hits the big shot...of course some retards ignore intangibles like that since their mancrush can't quantify them statistically...i guess some people still have trouble differentiating between fantasy basketball on yahoo or espn, and actual real basketballBesides, Fisher is trying to guard arguably the best PG in the NBA (I still think its Deron, but Rondo is right in the upper eschelon)...Odom on the other hand is going against powerhouse over-the-hill veteran Rasheed Wallace, and such offensive forces as Kendrick Perkins and Glen Davis...absolutely no comparison in who has a tougher task...yet Fisher still hits big shots to win gamesAre you actually watching the games, or just constantly hitting F5 to see when Beri updates his stats? Here's another question. Name ONE big shot Tracy McGrady has hit in his entire NBA career.Oh thats right...according to you, big shots don't matter...late game heroics are meaningless...the most important stat is how much you do in the regular season[Edited on June 16, 2010 at 7:14 PM. perkins doesn't totally kill the celtics, rasheed has been playing great defense lately in the playoffs, the only problem is now shelden williams might see a few minutes and somehow screw something up, what a total fucking dookie bust

Lol now I've seen it all. Lebron doesn't elevate his team????Any team he plays for is an immediate contender. That can't be said about kobe bryant that's for sure! Even in his prime kobe wasn't enough to get a solid supporting cast to the 2nd rd of the fucking playoffs! You guys are taking crazy pills. The lakers had a losing record over the span of THREE years after they lost shaq.Losing perkins opens up the middle huge for la. They would need a nightmare game from gasol and kobe to have a chance to win toniteThis is the same thread that said ray allen has had a good series though so I don't expect any intelligent opinions. The nba where only the players are dumber than the fans

^ Hey man, in Game 6 of that series against the Suns in '06 when Kobe scored 50 his supporting case was AWESOME. Just check out this cast of solid characters. Odom was there too, and he had a pretty nice series but he is a 50/50 guy. Shows up or not.Kwame Brown - 40 minutesLuke Walton - 30 minutesSmush Parker - 42 minutesDevean George - 25 minutesSasha Vujacic - 16 minutesA regular old Lakers/Celtics 80's roster there, I tell you.

no wonder rally is so pissed...look at the first page of this thread...he put big money on orlando and cleveland and dallas...what a dumbass...maybe if he had gone to NBA games this year he would have something to reference other than Dave Beri's wins produced, and he wouldn't look like such a moron with all his predictions in this threadbut its hard to feel sorry for someone who continues to ignore common sense advice in favor of some secret mathematical formula that originally said neither Boston or LA had a prayer at even MAKING the finalshey guys, lets take a TEAM sport, and then try to extrapolate wins produced based on each individual PLAYER, and use that mathematical data to then try to predict which TEAM wins the championship...and then when we lose all our bets, we can talk shit about Kobe and say Gerald Wallace and Lamar Odom are better players]

6/17/2010 2:53:48 PM
Kobe carries teams to 40 wins and lebron carries them to 60. you'd have to be an extreme jockrider not to see the difference.Kobe isn't capable of ever dominating like lebron is currently doing. The lakers had the 9th best supporting cast in the league one of those years. Ill have to check which year it was but the supporting cast was certainly better than average.
6/17/2010 3:06:34 PM
6/17/2010 3:10:13 PM
You can look up whatever stat you want, but if you call Lamar Odom and Kwame Brown 9th best supporting cast you're a clown. Well g fucking d, Lebron James, the regular season/genetics hero.[Edited on June 17, 2010 at 3:13 PM. Reason : ]

rallydurham has 3 TWW windows open, in one he is preparing a post to respond to a Kobe breakout performance, in the other a so-so 30-point performance, and in the other a <24 point performancewe wont see them all, but i imagine the length of his post is directly proportional to a good Kobe performance...he will type a lot more trying to rationalize his opinions if he is proven a jackass by a great Kobe night, but he will try to be smug and 'take the high road' and post less if Kobe lays an egg

6/17/2010 9:58:57 PM
The Celtics threw their best punch early and LA survived. Nothing I'm seeing right now makes me think Boston can win this game.
6/17/2010 9:59:25 PM
rasheed is punking gasol again and again, it makes me think why more big men in the league haven't had more success against him, all you do is get physical with him and contest all his shots and his production dwindles
6/17/2010 10:03:10 PM
Pierce tried to grab Artest's nuts
6/17/2010 10:06:16 PM
