No the bojangles hill was pretty bad but had a 4x4 pickup and took it slow. Saw a couple others make it before me so I decided to give it a try. Was mostly snow at that point.

the roads around me (downtown) that haven't been touched are a lot better than those that have been driven on. this dry powder is packing down into nice slick ice tracks where cars are driving over it.

Yeah the roads that are slush need to be scraped before tonight or it is going to be terrible tomorrow morning.

Just got back from grabbing some lunch and this refreeze is going to be ridiculously bad. If the roads near you aren't cleared before 5:00 today, you are pwnt tomorrow, stay home.

Just finished shoveling the drive way, which is always a nice reminder of how uncoordinated I am.

My left wrist is gonna be pretty sore tomorrow.

One of the worst parts about apartment living is the completely uncleared parking lot. Fucking awful.

So there are 2 ways out of my apt. complex. One exits onto a non-main road that has not been plowed or apparently salted or anything. The other exit goes onto Walnut, and Walnut is dry as a bone... however some dumbshit semi driver has gotten himself stuck there. Fucking brilliant.

Ahahahaha, as I'm bitching about it on TWW a snow plow just came through. One good reason to live in Cary... the town of Cary has more plows than Wake county does.

Indications of a possible late week winter storm next week... too early to even think about right now, but some models suggest it

Charlotte's main roads were fine this morning. I left around 9am to head to work, and my neighborhood's roads were a solid sheet of ice. I made it out onto the feeder road which was pretty iced over, too, and was headed into a small dip at about 10mph, and this stupid woman pulls out in a pickup truck right in front of me from a side road where it starts to go back up, not even 30 feet in front of me, and she hits the ice and can't move an inch. So I have to slam on my breaks, losing all of my speed, barely missing her by a foot. Cars are now all piling up behind us.

I get out of my car and walk up to her and tell her to make sure it's in 4WD and I'll push, and she says it's only a rear wheel drive truck. What the fuck, woman. She ended up not being able to get out, so she drove back in the subdivision and stayed home. I go back to my car and notice that when I slid, it separated the tire from the rim, so now I'm fucked, but I'm able to put it in reverse and get out of the way and change my tire. But, over the next 20 minutes as I'm fighting a solid sheet of ice to get a jack down, get my footing to take off the lugnuts, etc., I watch the mayhem she caused by being a moron and trying to get a RWD truck out in that mess. She said "but I have a truck, that should be fine, right? I just wanted to go up to the mall" Nice traffic problems because she had to be an idiot.

what town is that?

Chance of huge storm along the mid-atlantic coast late next week. Time to pray for a southern swing!

Quote :
"The EURO forecast model is our most accurate long range model. Between February 8th and February 10th it is showing a massive, "Snowmageddon" blizzard occurring across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. It shows a 30-40" bulls eye in NJ, DE, eastern MD, southern NY. This would smash all time snowfall records and maybe even seasonal records. But it is still a week away and this forecast will likely change. A storm like this would shut down everything from roads, airports, trains and schools for several days."

Spent the morning walking around downtown Wilmington. Streets are nothing but ice. Its been fun watching the rednecks in their 2 wheel drive trucks getting stuck and running over signs. The police and firemen were not pleased.

Is it a ticketable offense to drive your car down a major road while it's covered in a mound of snow? It should be

Worst part of my commute was getting in and out of the driveway at home and at work.

My commute is just a straight shot down a main highway...so that wasn't bad. But a lot of the secondary roads looked rather rough in the Clinton area

can't even get up the hill at my place to get out. looks like if I'm going to class I'm forced to take the bus. thanks NCSU. I guess if you live in an area not covered by Wolfline you don't deserve to go to class.

What is your definition of a mound of snow?

Tryon Road this morning was clear and dry between Wilmington & Lake Wheeler. Oddly enough past Lake Wheeler the city only plowed 1 of 2 lanes each way, so the other lanes just have dry tire patches. Still easy to drive on though.

It was a ticketable offense to drive between the hours of 6pm and 7am last night here. Unless it was an emergency, obviously.
