so i saw the LogMeIn app is $30 for iPhone - any idea if it is going to be free for Android?
5/7/2010 7:11:18 PM
Right now the beta for Android is free. I haven't seen where they've announced a price yet but I highly doubt the full version will be free.
5/8/2010 9:48:54 AM
yeah, I wouldn't expect it to be free either. Logmein is easier to set up but I think I like phonemypc better. It optimizes for your connection and allows you to use your phone as a wireless mouse/keyboard. It's also in beta and costs $9.99 http://www.softwareforme.com/phonemypc/
5/8/2010 12:27:36 PM
flashed CM and installed swype on my N1 today. pretty fucking awesomeI want to stab whoever designed the contacts list, though
5/9/2010 12:23:01 AM
^agreed, CM is awesome^^i also prefer PhonemyPC

Anybody have a good 2x2 clock widget they'd recommend? I've poured through pages of Androlib's suggestions but have yet to come across one which is just right.
5/9/2010 7:35:46 PM
the one that came stock on my backflip is pretty neat.
5/9/2010 7:42:24 PM
Android should mature in a year or two. Until then it's a wild west cash grab with 100 different clocks that all gobble memory and try to display ads.Survey: How many of you have to reboot your phone daily?
5/9/2010 7:45:38 PM
I haven't had to reboot my Droid in weeks. I consider its stability on-par with that of my former iPhone.
5/9/2010 7:49:35 PM
I've factory reset my phone twice since I got it in march. (both within the last couple weeks)I haven't had to reboot it since the last factory reset like a week ago. Before the first factory reset I had to hard reset (battery pull) just about every other day.
5/9/2010 7:50:10 PM
yeah, the only time I reboot is to flash or update a rom.
5/9/2010 8:01:02 PM
I've have to reboot to get stalled facebook uploads to disappear from notifications, and because the AIMer app doesn't remove itself from the notifications panel even if it's not active. But, the Droid reboots relatively quickly compared to the BlackBerry storm, so it's not really a big issue.
5/9/2010 8:20:55 PM
^do you not use a task manager?
5/9/2010 8:32:04 PM
no, because a lot of the reviews say they can cause more trouble than they're worth.
5/9/2010 8:35:38 PM
ehh, it hasn't done any problems for me. just gotta make sure you're closing the right stuff. if i try to close something I shouldn't the process just restarts.
5/9/2010 8:46:46 PM
Which is useless. I think you're apps are buggy, check out getting some different ones
5/9/2010 10:15:29 PM
look up the hero clock night widget, there's a 2x2 version and a 4x4 version, i like it.here's the 2x2 version:http://www.androidzoom.com/android_themes/themes/hero-night-clock-widget-2x2_geph.htmland 4x4:http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/hero-clock-night_bnwx.html?nav=area[Edited on May 9, 2010 at 11:42 PM. ^ that is not 4x4
5/10/2010 9:37:25 AM
if the link is wrong, just search for hero night clock and it's in the market, i know because i have the 4x4 version.

Hey if it gets the platform in peoples hands then it will be worth it.
5/10/2010 11:26:03 AM
that's true... the world definitely needs more cheaper, me-too products.

got one two days ago at sprint. the Samsung Moment. it pretty much rocks my face off
5/10/2010 12:18:06 PM
^^Not to mention, Android didn't have that market of rabid consumers who will buy anything with an Apple logo on it (ie. Golovko) in it's corner.[Edited on May 10, 2010 at 12:19 PM. Reason : :]
5/10/2010 12:19:03 PM
I read a blurb that Sprint was going to have separate Evo plans. I'm already concerned about dumping my SERO plan, I surely hope that I won't be forced into some bullshit Super-Everything Data plan that for instance company discounts would not apply to...
5/10/2010 1:46:00 PM
^ would not surprise me to charge more for 4G. If I were sprint, I would expect more to be paid to me if I were giving faster speeds (yes, i know not everyone has 4g).prospero, it is a 4x3 widget, that is what I was getting at.AND, with that said.... can someone PLEASE explain why you want a clock widget taking resources (hardly none, I know) when you have a clock in the top right of your notification bar? I have never understood why people like clock widgets.[Edited on May 10, 2010 at 5:21 PM. Reason : aerg]
5/10/2010 5:19:21 PM
yeah, they initially charged $10 more for the 3G/4G data card but then made it $59.99 like the regular data plans so who knows how they plan on doing it.

What do you guys use to get music onto your android phones?I just discovered this:http://highwindsoftware.com/tutorial.phpI haven't tried it yet but it sounds promising. I have a feeling Apple will shut that down whenever they update iTunes again though
5/10/2010 6:04:53 PM
I just use DoubleTwist. After installing, it found all of my music from iTunes pretty much immediately. All I had to do was use the menu to import some playlists. Done. Interface is similar to iTunes, and also links in to the Android Market for apps.Downside: the built-in Android music player no-likey the music I've downloaded from the iTunes store. Anyone have suggestions on a better player app?
5/10/2010 6:09:07 PM
meh, I just drag and drop it to the sd card.

What is the point of iPhone just to hack it and get Android? Just get a fucking Android phone, seriously..
5/10/2010 10:05:05 PM
two reasons...1. because you can (which is really the only reason behind most hacks)2. because apple is clearly indicating that the iphone 3g is on its way out. if you want capabilities, you go with what offers them.
5/10/2010 10:12:03 PM
Exactly, what is the point of any hack really? That's a pretty ignorant outlook. Why would anyone hack OS X to run on non 'Apple' hardware. Just spend 4k and get a Mac.
5/10/2010 10:15:14 PM
Looks like no N1 on sprint either. Granted I doubt anyone cares either with the Evo around the corner. From BGR:
5/10/2010 11:07:40 PM
really looking forward to the EVO...can't wait actually! talked to a rep today at walnut st. and he said june 6th is looking good, that and he gets to train with one the beginning of next week, which he thinks he will be given a phone to work with for a week
