Sawtooth American-style ESB Amber, Milk Stout, Fade to Black Smoked Baltic Porter, TNT Weizen Doppelbock, Polestar German Pilsner, 400 Pound Monkey English-Style IPA, Stranger Pale Ale, Black Jack Porter CO2 & Cask, Wake Up Dead Stout, Good Juju Spiced Ale, Starsky & Scotch (their Pro-Am submission from their homebrew club, it was freakin' incredible -- there's another 4 to the left of the picture)

Any recommendations for a good Belgium-style wheat or other lighter fruity beer that is brewed locally. I was going to get a keg of Blanco Diablo but they don't sell kegs of that to the public

I'm thinking Shotgun Betty could be a good choice. Aviator Brewery has a saison but I've never had it before.

Shotgun Betty is one of my current favs, if you like LoneRider I suggest going over to their brewery. They have a little bar set up there and they usually have a micro-brew or two on tap thats different from their headlining beers.

don't know if they sell kegs to civilians (assume they do if you preorder), but those are both great and as local as you are gonna get

We'll be getting a pony of Bad Penny for sure. I'm not a huge fan of Hell's Belle but we are considering it to make our lives easier. I want to do local brews since most of our guests are not from here so it's a good chance to showcase NC beers.

I actually just bought a 6 of Sisters of the Moon. I want to goto the brewery (20 minutes away), but that shit almost makes me . IMO 10.99 is a tad too much. I was close to just grabbing Ranger.

spent last week in san diego for work but managed to still grab a few tasty brews at my old favorite beer bars

had alpine pure hoppiness (one of my all time favorites, wish i could get it more often around la) and port mongo ipa at obriens -- this is really good and is easy to get in bottles around town, can you guys get port brewing stuff back east?

i also randomly had quite a few coronado ipas, both their islander and idiot (double) -- for some reason it was on tap in ob at several places but i'm not complaining; i've liked the idiot for several years now and it was cool to see it in a 6-pack for only $10, more excellent ipas should be available that way...

in the fridge, as well as the exceptional Guinness Foreign Extra Stout. The Rye Pale Ale is quite nice--clean and crisp, with an interesting, spicy tone from the rye that makes it a little more lively than a standard pale ale or an IPA. Pipeline Porter is good, nice coffee flavor and a generally smooth, nutty porter, but I don't love it--though the fact that the last coffee-influenced beer I had was the excellent Terrapin WnB Coffee Oatmeal Imperial might be coloring my judgment a bit.

Also, while at Whole Foods last week, I picked up a bottle of Aecht Schenklerla Rauchbier Weizen:

That's a smoked wezien from the Schenkerla brewery for the non-German speaking. And it's among the top two or three beers I've had this year--very smoky, reminds me of a wood fire, but in a good way--kind of like eating a really good meal sitting around a campfire and the pleasant smoky taste and smell left behind. Layered over a good weizen, with a nice smoothness and some sweet tones--hard to describe the result but it's fantastic. $3.99 for a 25 oz. bottle, so not expensive either. Pick one up if you see it--really good stuff. If I could find some of their other styles (they also make a smoked marzen and an ur-bock), I'd love to try--seen these elsewhere? Sam's perhaps?

i tweeted @ founders yesterday that i would put it on the same level as my love of Hopslam if the Double Trouble had a bit more in terms of aromatics. but the body of the beer is fantastic, and packs a lot of IBUs.

the couple aprihops I had on draft last weekend were not near as flavored as they were in 2010. But I do remember the 2010 being much better in the bottle as well.

I got 2 bottles thinking I'd try it and age one. After tasting the first one in December, I went back and got another 4 bottles, it is good, particularly for a BSDA. Anyone else compare it to Unibroue's Terrible? They seem identical to me, maybe because they are?

I keep saying it, and i'll say it again. Highland Little Hump may be one of the best sessional beers i've had. I absolutely can not get enough of this stuff. I finished my night off with a pair after a disappointing Green Man IPA, a tasty Avery Ellie's Brown, and a Hopslam (iknorite?).
