the one i'm specifically remembering was a black chick who was missing her shoes and was at a bar named "Drink" (iirc). but i'm pretty sure there were parties with white folk too.

Natty Greene's expanding to SC, Virginia, and D.C. I'm not a fan of any of any of their beers, but congrats to them!http://www.bizjournals.com/triad/blog/morning-edition/2013/09/natty-greenes-expanding-sales-in.html[Edited on September 23, 2013 at 9:25 AM. Reason : a]

The only time I drink them is when I go to grasshoppers games
9/23/2013 9:36:45 AM
I ended up at Natty's a lot while living here; however, I agree that their beer isn't that great.
9/23/2013 10:00:14 AM
^^ this, and on the rare occasion that I am there either before or after an event downtown. If I am out somewhere else and decide to order a local beer, its either Foothills or Red Oak.
9/23/2013 10:08:17 AM
I've been there b4

house of blues to open in downtown Greensboro
7/10/2014 8:54:45 PM
Greensboro people; come trade ammo for beer.
7/10/2014 9:01:00 PM
it won't be a house of blues it will be an 850-seat venue owned by the House Of Blues Entertainment Group and will operate under a different name
7/10/2014 9:10:23 PM
we opened a hackerspace/makerspace/whathaveyou called The Forge on 115 W. Lewis Streetwe are new so give us some time to get the good equipment in but we already have a 3d printer, laser cutter, and we're getting in some great woodworking tools (bandsaw, I don't know cause I don't mess with it)http://www.greensborohackerspace.org/Also great wifi for members (fastest business class) and open 24/7!!![Edited on July 13, 2014 at 7:23 PM. I was in Greensboro last night and had a fantastic time. first time venturing outside of downtown. some rad spots around campus. should have texted my old roomie
7/13/2014 8:58:57 PM
Everything about Greensboro is bad and you're a bad person if you like it
7/14/2014 1:05:01 AM
I had a tasty Natty Green's Amber Ale the other night. Isn't that brewery in Greensboro?
7/14/2014 8:00:09 AM
Yep.Also, looks like I'll be back in gboro for another field assignment. 10-12 months this time instead of 4-6(that turned into 7) last time.[Edited on July 14, 2014 at 9:05 AM. Reason : ]

oh yeah I just looked up the address as well. I walked past that area a lot going to Mellow Mushroom.
7/14/2014 9:09:27 AM
We also have some redundant hand tools. They're nothing special, but we don't need 100 drill bits or 15 hammers (a lot of inherited tools), etc. Does The Forge need any hand tools? We're doing a yard sale this weekend, but if you guys want it, I'll cull out the nice pieces.
7/14/2014 9:14:00 AM
I'm sure we will take anything you have to offer! As for the pop in/membership question, only members have electronic access to open the doorsNon members right now are allowed in during open house hours and I'm not sure what the restrictions will be when we're further along
7/15/2014 9:06:28 PM
Do you plan to offer or even require any training before people are utilizing equipment?
7/15/2014 9:10:07 PM
looks like Greenway has increased rent by about $100 a month. Oh well, it was honestly a really good deal for the price I rented at last year so it is still at the top of my list of places to rent since it looks like I will be back in Gboro late September at this point. As backups, does anyone else have any recommendations for downtown apartments in Gboro? My criteria last time that led me to Greenway was:*Walkable (~1 mile of all sidewalk preferably) to the Elm Street area*half-decent gym with free weights on site*<$1000 per monthLast time I was getting a studio apartment at Greenway for $845 (internet included) with only minimal power and water bills.

7/28/2014 10:44:08 AM
How about the Lofts at Greensborough Court? They're pretty nice. If not, i've heard good things about the Elms.
7/28/2014 3:06:04 PM
thanks I'll definitely keep both in mind. Trying to get my estimated start/end date (they are never exact in this industry but it's something) from the person I'll report to up there so that I can get a better idea of the length of lease I'll need and if I can commit to something in the near future since some of those downtown places tend to have limited availability.
7/28/2014 3:54:54 PM
does the corner bar still have quarter draft night? is the corner bar even still around?
7/28/2014 7:20:22 PM
I'll be moving here for a job next month. I work near Moses Cone Hospital. Any housing suggestions?
7/29/2014 4:22:14 PM
What are you looking for? Apartment? House? Number of bedrooms? Price range? Rent or buy? Closer to work or closer to bars? The closer to Cone, the pricier, but there are some good places out that way.
7/29/2014 8:23:27 PM
^i forget, do you still live in gboro?
7/29/2014 8:41:34 PM
Just moved back.
7/29/2014 8:51:07 PM
1 bedroom apt to rent. Preferably closer to work. How much should I expect to pay? 700-800/month?
7/29/2014 9:14:01 PM
Ace's Basement was sweet
7/29/2014 9:31:23 PM
Sketchy but yes.
7/29/2014 9:33:57 PM

7/29/2014 9:38:58 PM
I'm about to do another lease at Greenway. The commute was really simple to my job site and the convenience of deep roots grocery for daily meals and grocery shopping was just too much to pass up. They only had 1 apartment left in the smallest size like I wanted so I'm moving on it now even though the lease wouldn't start until mid Oct.

Picking up my keys tomorrow - will be settling in over the next week or two. Anything interesting happening for Halloween downtown here since it is a Friday?
10/22/2014 8:17:53 PM
Still glad I peaced out of GSO
10/22/2014 8:32:40 PM
So I've been out of town for a few years and am coming back for a month or so in November. Any new spots worth checking out? Also curious about entertainment venues, even if they've been around for a while -- I never went to much when I lived there. Looks like the Carolina Theater is nothing but Christmas shit for the duration of my stay. Any other suggestions?
10/23/2014 4:18:49 AM
Lots of changes downtown. Mostly restaurantish though. They are opening a new brewery downtown, but I don't know if it will be ready by the time you are here. There is a lot more out near the High Point/Greensboro line. There are also "first Fridays" in Greensboro and usually a lot of food trucks and music.Another place I like, but I don't think it qualifies as "new" is Potent Potables in Jamestown. It's been around for a few years.
10/23/2014 9:27:31 AM
Will First Fridays still be going on in December?
10/23/2014 11:32:56 AM
cone denim center is a new venue downtown
10/23/2014 12:17:35 PM
First Fridays are every month (even in the winter). Not sure when you're returning, but the December event is confirmed for December 5 from 6-9pm, and there will be one on the first Friday of January.[Edited on October 23, 2014 at 12:54 PM. Reason : ]

Is there some new craft beer store downtown or something too? I was just online recently trying to see what changed since I was working here last year on assignment and it seems like I came across that.
10/23/2014 3:45:05 PM
Gibb's Brewing is opening soon. They should have craft beers. Then, Crafted (the taco place) is opening a new Crafted downtown, but they have not released what food they will be serving. Also Spice Cantina just opened -- http://downtowngreensboro.net/dine/spice-cantina[Edited on October 23, 2014 at 4:37 PM.
