Thanks, but not the kind of info I was hoping for. Guess it's going to be another one of those "refresh the recruiting thread every 5 minutes" days at work.

Boogie committed but he isn't officially accepted until his Fall grades are released. Sounds like he has questionable grades and I guess we won't take him unless his grades are sufficient.

What do O-linemen think about running QB's??? My thought is they would LOVE to block for someone like RW instead of a stationary QB, but that may not be true. What do u think having a mobile QB does or the rest of the recruitment?
12/2/2008 2:00:39 PM
I was reading somewhere (maybe this very thread) that RW is a great recruiting host off the field not to mention his on field accomplishments.
12/2/2008 2:03:30 PM
^Maybe you read it in my post? Two above yours But I read it somewhere else too ... I think it was on gopack.com.^^WRs have to love it, because it opens the door for big plays. Think how many of our big plays have come as the result of a busted play.I've never played Oline, but I'd imagine they'd love it too. It definitely lessens the pressure of having to create a perfect pocket. I think a bigger factor in our Oline recruiting though will be the turn-around in this year's Oline. They went from being a position of weakness to one of the strongest on the teams. Don't think TOB, Bible, etc didn't have something to do with that. [Edited on December 2, 2008 at 2:17 PM. Reason : ]

Morgan Alexander Commits!
12/2/2008 2:51:37 PM
Alexander coming as a RB?
12/2/2008 2:57:15 PM
I like the 4.5 forty time.
12/2/2008 2:57:33 PM
^^^^ if there is one thing TOB & Co. are known for, it's a beastly O-Line. i have complete faith in him and Don Horton to produce one of the top OL's in the league year-in and year-out.
12/2/2008 3:05:04 PM
I think Alexander is coming back as either a slot receiver or corner.Staff may give him reps at RB if he redshirts.[Edited on December 2, 2008 at 3:30 PM. Reason : \/ yeah, we fucking need secondary help any way we can get it]
12/2/2008 3:09:39 PM
corner makes the most sense
12/2/2008 3:11:15 PM
So was Alexander the silent verbal, or do we have to wait even longer?
12/2/2008 4:02:40 PM
Alexander was not the silent verbal.

it was Mageo you can add him to the list and welcome him to the pack!TB is a cool cat

I'm loving these DT commits. Besides the secondary, thats our weakest spot starting next year

weird. that site says he's going to hawaii
12/2/2008 4:13:01 PM
HAHA, we got the ALIEN!!!!
12/2/2008 4:13:15 PM
that site is wrong, he has canceled his remaining visits and informed the Hawaii coaches that he would be running with the pack.he verb'd this weekend after the game and asked the staff not to announce it for a few days so he could call take care of canceling visits and stuff or something like that
12/2/2008 4:16:54 PM
if true he'll be here this spring
12/2/2008 4:18:12 PM
Does anybody know if Archer is trying to build a 3 - 4 defense??I know he was an assistant at Pittsburgh (Steelers) and ran that at Kentucky... Looks like he's trying to get some big boys for DT/Nose.

Mageo commitment switch is official
12/3/2008 11:23:24 AM
I don't think we have the LB depth coming in to move to a 34. If we were swithing to a 34, we'd have to move a few DT's to DE & some DE's to LB (but that could certainly be a possibility).[Edited on December 3, 2008 at 12:12 PM. Reason : ]
12/3/2008 12:11:44 PM
We're really setup nicely for the 4-3, so I don't think they want to switch it. I think what we're doing right now needs to stay in tact for another year or two. It's tough on guys to keep switching styles/coaches each year and one of the reasons I didn't like Amato(no consistency with coordinators). With the core of LBs we got last year and the ones coming up, we should be ok at LB with Nate and Michel returning as starters and then we have 3-4 guys who have potential and hopefully one of them can fill the hole at the other starting spot. Hopefully Manning comes back strong and lives up to expectations.Right now we're just adding depth at DT and girth so we can stop the run and free up our LBs and DE's to make plays. We were shallow at DT and by adding these JuCos we can play them right away and redshirt the freshman we have coming in hopefully. TOB is really a big fan of redshirts(which I am too) so I think we'll see the JuCo trend for one more year and then he probably won't have to rely on it as much when his recruits are hitting the RS-Sophmore/Junior level and we have sufficient depth.
12/3/2008 12:36:33 PM
Archer has said that he wants to move to it eventually but will stick with the 4-3 until we have the personnel.
12/3/2008 12:52:40 PM
Yeah we've been recruiting the right DT/DEs for it recently but it'll take time, don't see it happening this coming season. Then again I didn't see us using the spread either, so maybe they'll surprise us.I just think with the stars we have on D (AMC, Nate, Willie), we fit better with a 4-3 right now.
12/3/2008 1:02:33 PM
Jeff Rieskamp/Willie Young could both be DeMarcus Ware/Greg Ellis type players and play end or LB.
12/3/2008 1:13:56 PM
3-4 would be awesome. No QB would be safe.
12/3/2008 1:35:42 PM
Yeah I know Young and McKeen could be rushing LBs in 3-4, but I just don't see AMC being the big nose-tackle type we need for that and he's too big to be a DE in 3-4. AMC is a monster and we want him to be as productive as possible so I think we stay in a 4-3 this coming season.
