^ Hell yeah, that is awesome that they hooked you up. UB is one of the few sites where I would expect that to happen, they are very professional and fair in my experience.

No they don't, the only way that I know of is an external program like pokertracker or statking

After investing a considerable amount of money in the hand, his opponent disconnected because he was unable to call an all-in with his shitty gutshot. It just so happened that toemoss was bluffing with ace high, and when a 9 fell on the river his opponent scooped the $42 that had been matched before he disconnected.

This is a textbook disconnect, it works like a freeroll for when you've already invested a lot in a pot with a draw but don't have the odds to call an all-in bet.

I am pretty sure this is how it works.

Player A is invested into a pot of $400, to which let's say he's contributed $50.

Player B obviously has a much better hand than player A, but Player A is a calling machine, and he has a gutshot draw.

After the turn, Player B goes all-in for $200.

Player A has no desire to call the all-in because he knows his chances are slim to none, but he also does not want to fold. So he disconnects, meaning he gets to see the rest of the cards, and if his hand ends up being the winner, he gets the $400 pot, but NOT the remainder of Player A's all-in. It's basically a method to make sure the hand gets checked down to the river to see if he can hit his draw.

Okay, at the point where the dude disconnected there was $41 in the pot. He had raised to $15 on the turn, leaving him with $22 in front of him I think. He had 9 high at the point where toemoss put him all-in, so he had 3 options:
1) fold - lose $21 this hand
2) call - risk $22 + $21 = $43 this hand in order to win a ~$85 pot if the river is an 8, 9, or 10(though he didn't know that any of these three cards would win the pot for him at the time)
3) disconnect - his $21 was already risked, but his other $22 stays with him no matter what the river is. if the river is an 8, 9, or 10 he wins ~$41, otherwise he loses his $21(not $43 because the disconnect protect feature acts like he started the hand with $21 in front of him, and treats him as all-in at the pont where he lost connection)

You can see how option 3 is the most lucrative. Poker sites have this disconnect protect feature for instances where he would not want to fold(with a made fullhouse for example) but his isp randomly fucks up in the middle of the hand. Treating his $21 that he had already bet as all-in under these circumstances is much better for the player than folding him because his internet went out.

This guy had no intention of calling the all-in with 9 high, but instead of folding he manually disconnected himself to abuse the disconnect protect feature. toemoss figured out what he did and reported him, getting back the $43 that was rightfully his.

Everybody that plays online needs to be aware of this trick. If you're ever in this situation, write down the game number at the top of the screen and report it to the site. This is a major pitfall of online play and you will get fucked over if you're not looking for it.

Played in two tourneys tonight, this same shit has knoced me out both times. I go all in with A6 suited, guy calls me with A4os and hits his fours. I go all in with AJ suited, guy calls with A8os, hits his eights. EVERY FUCKING TIME.

KQ losing to K9 twice
KQ flopping broadway and losing to an 8-hi flush
AJ losing to 44 who caught running quads to beat my trip As
A10 hitting 2 pair but losing to the wheel (guy had 3-5 off, flopped the gutshot and called an all in)
QQ losing to 88
A6D losing to 109o when I hit A on the flop. he ran a striaght to the J
AKS all in/out to 103H... hit the 10 on the flop

I am trying to invision a hand where only one 4 wouldn't beat your "trip" aces. I imagine the flop was something like AA8, and you had AJ and maybe only bet a little trying to sucker the guy in. He calls, then hits a 4, at which point your about a 6/1 dog. Then on the river he quads up and you hit your boat? Is this what happened?

^^ Preflop raise in 2/3rd position and he called 1 off the button.
Flop was AA5 - I checked and he bet, I called.
Turn I pushed the rest of my stack on the turn when a flush draw showed up, he called... didn't think he had 4s.

River was just cruel

Well I got greedy and sat at the $.50 NL table.....Yes, thats a joke. Well I am sitting at $24.....I get 10 10....some one raises $3, so I push all in, figure I will take it there....Then this moron has QJ off suit and calls me, he only has like $28 at the table, so he is calling my all in with QJ. As usual, the fucking flop hits his Queen. I really do not know what else I can do other than go all in with the best hand time and time again. At this point, I almost dont wanna play online anymnore, even though I have made alot of money at it. Its just too fucking annoying.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! So that was you that jinxed me

Cardplayer failed to mention that with the blinds at $3,000/6000 with a $1,000 ante, and me with only about $12,000 left after the big blind, I was going to go all in preflop with any 2 cards... mathematically, I had to. It was nice to look down and see a decent hand in AJ, but it wasn't like I stood up to his raise and thought my AJ was good... I would've called there with 23o. I would've had to wait 'til 3 more people were out to move up in the money (although a $6,000 increase at 15th is something to shoot for), and with my seriously short stack, there was no way to wait that out... Blinds can get big, but the antes kill you. I took two beats early in the day, one with QQ against a shorter stack who pushed with ATo... he flopped an Ace... and then later with A8d, when I took a stand calling a short stack's all in... it cost me half my chips at the time ($31,000 of my $65,000 stack), but I was pretty sure I was ahead with my A8 suited since he was desperate. He had KTo, but hit a K, and I didn't catch up... and also, I just had to take a chance to get some chips there because my stack was dwindling too quickly.

The $19,500 payout was tremendous though... by far the best I've ever had. The money at the final table would have been amazing, but with the cards I got today, there was just nothing I could do to get a stack to try to make it there.

I remember this one time, I raised with KJ suited against Jon Turner. He called, and we both checked down to the river. I thought he checked on the river, so I said, without showing, "I'm sure you have me beat, all I have is KJ." He said, "In that case, I raise," and he raised like $10. I said, "Gotcha, sucker, and I went all-in." He folded and I showed him my KJ. OMG, I am better than Jon Turner. I would have finished way better than 18th.

We need to send our best and our brightest from NCSU. Not Jon Turner.

But in all seriousness Jon, well done. I can't believe we both got started playing little $10 and $20 tournaments 2 or 3 nights a week. Regardless of how you fare in Vegas, I gotta respect the fact you have the sack to go out and play for the big $$. Myself, I'll just stick to the small time games and online stuff.

That's one of the most absurd things I've ever witnessed in player chat, I'm lucky I didn't fuck up my jacks full cause I was laughing really hard.

Thank god there's no minimum IQ requirement to sign up for online poker, or I'd be out of a job. This guy, assaultrifle, ended up losing that entire stack within an hour - I guess he forgot to keep on checking the hand history to figure out what was coming

Thought some of you might get a kick out of this ...

Goof Puts Man in Major Poker Tourney
July 03, 2005 9:28 PM EDT
KILLEEN, Texas - A computer goof has Robert Guinther headed for a seat at the World Series of Poker tournament in Las Vegas later this week.

Guinther, 65, entered what he thought was a $10 online poker tournament, but midway through he realized that he had accidentally clicked on a World Series of Poker satellite tournament with a $100 entry fee and it was too late to back out. He went on to win, defeating 180 other competitors and earning a spot in the WSOP $10,000 no-limit championship.

The tournament, which begins Thursday, will involve more than 6,600 players who either qualified by winning a satellite tournament or paid the $10,000 entry fee.

"This is the dream of a lifetime," Guinther said. "I watch these guys on television all the time, and I'm excited about the chance to sit down and play with them."

Guinther's son, Rik, kept tabs on his father's progress from his home computer in San Antonio and had to explain just what the victory meant.

"When I won, I let out a big Yes!" Guinther said. "I just thought I had won $11,000, but then my son told me over the phone, 'Dad, you've just won a seat in the World Series of Poker!' I screamed so loud, you wouldn't believe it."

Guinther, who settled in Killeen after retiring as an Army sergeant first class in 1985, says he's a little nervous about the next step but knows he'll be fine once play begins.

youd be amazed how many times people have no idea what tournament they registered for.

two days ago, i was in a $50 speed tournament (i detest those things, but have made a few thousand placing in the money, so what the hell) and the first thing mentioned was "what the hell is a speed tournement?"

or noidroid clued me into the 30+3 plo8 tourneys, were seemingly every time one starts, someone asks, "why the hell do i have 4 cards?"

when people say things like that i cue on them right away, i'm sure most people do though, i've never played a speed tourney, describe the blind increase structure, seems like a lot of times the blinds increase so fast in regular online tourneys, i would think a "speed" tourney would be nuts

3 minute blind levels.

blinds go up insanely fast.

the problem is that you have a 120 second time bank on party, and people stall like crazy trying to just coast into the money.

once you make it into the money, its pretty much everyone is all in when the blinds hit.. its all about reseating placement, and getting lucky really...

if you double/triple up early in the tournament, you can pretty much coast into the money.

i finished 6th in one one night, due primarily to an unfortunate reseating at the final table. noidroid was watching, advising and basically wanting to know why in the fuck id put myself into this tournament. not bad to pull ~$900 for about 1.5 hours in a tournament.

the $50 is at 1am EST, and usually has several hundred people in it.

i dont believe you coudl just post and fold into the money. plus, isnt the goal of a tournament to win it outright?

I was highly succesful at 7 card stud this weekend. I can not believe how many people will chase 7th street looking for their miracle card.

Although every once in awhile it sucks losing a 70 pot to those that pull it out the ass.

Gracz, also known as "The Kid," used to play the Capital Blvd. game. I'm not sure if he still plays it, though.

I am thinking of going to AC this weekend, if any of yous want company.

probably going to leave either thursday night, or about 1 am friday morning. (from richmond, so on the way from raleigh.)

probably play in the $50 tournament at the taj on friday morning, and then prob either dabble with stud at the taj or go and play 1/2 nl or 6/12 LHE at the trop afterwards (where ill be staying)..

coming back probably saturday, maybe sunday.

if anyone is interested, let me know.
