At a discount, I'd take Manny in a heartbeat. No way I'd pay him the 25 for even one year. He's probably worth 15-20 for a year or two max.
2/4/2009 9:06:21 AM
This group isn't going to spend any money.....it's all going in their pockets.2nd highest attendance in NL and still a low budget compared to what should be available.
2/5/2009 12:15:52 PM
bttt
3/13/2009 9:19:37 PM
Not sure we have enough to hang with the Cubs or win the Wild Card this year again.Carpenter and Wainwright healthy combined with Lohse like last year would be a pretty damn good trio.
3/31/2009 12:01:36 AM
i like Mottei'll blame this one on the snow
4/6/2009 7:07:57 PM
New year same shit. Four runs in the 9th.Pujols/Ludwick great days. Greene looks good at short. If we get a closer, we might contend.
4/6/2009 7:30:36 PM
6 extra base hits through 5 inningsLohse lookin good too
4/7/2009 9:49:21 PM
Why are we the only team that can't hold a lead or keep our all-world pitcher off the fucking DL? We should be 8-1 but have now lost 2 games that should have been wins.
4/15/2009 6:40:19 PM
It sucks and Carp was rolling....Oh well. We got a W today with Piniero struggling. Ludwick went deep again. Yadi had a great game.
4/15/2009 7:28:26 PM
maybe a little trip to Louisville would be a good way to tell Ankiel that the season has begun0-6 today2 for his last 207 of 45 for the season
4/18/2009 7:32:49 PM
I hate our bullpen. I hate that the Blues can't win in the playoffs. I hate that Kevin Garnett is hurt. NC State is a joke in athletics. Other than that I like Notre dame in football (who have been a joke for years) and Indiana in basketball, who I think won one Big Ten game this year.I don't know why I even bother with sports.
4/19/2009 4:35:20 PM
Why we didn't try to upgrade the bullpen in the offseason is beyond me.
4/19/2009 4:45:39 PM
We only tried to get Fuentes...we should have went after Saito or Putz. Both of them signed with teams and are setup guys when they would have easily been closer for us. We cannot win the Central with Motte, Perez, and Franklin closing.
4/19/2009 5:47:03 PM
Traded Brian Barton for Blaine Boyer....sigh. Barton was a good OF but wasn't going to see time with us. Boyer is borderline Major League material.
4/20/2009 6:46:03 PM
Bump for MLB best 15-7.Wainwright now 3-0 even though he walked five. He, Piniero, and Lohse haven't lost a game yet. Come back Carpenter!
4/30/2009 12:34:07 AM
^ beat me to it...how 'bout them 'Birds!
5/4/2009 8:34:33 PM
toured Busch stadium last week. Officially one of my favorite parks
5/5/2009 9:53:46 AM
Not bad for the All Star Break. Not great either. First place, but with the worst record of any first place team and the 4th best record in the NL. Granted, this was Carpenterless for a big chunk of the season. Honestly right now just about anyone from the Central other than Pittsburgh has a legitimate chance of winning the division. This kind of reminds me of a few years back when we barely limped into the playoffs and then won the World Series. I think Carpenter/Wainwright/Pineiro would be a pretty effective post-season line-up.Go Cards.
7/13/2009 8:47:27 AM
Great bump. It's been a while. Ludwick is on fire!If Lohse can come back and we got a halfway decent starter between Wellemeyer/Thompson or a trade, we have a pretty good team. Piniero gets no support and should be way better than 7-9.
7/13/2009 8:14:49 PM
outfield looks awesome with the arch and the .... building/dome/thing
7/13/2009 8:19:21 PM
that is a great skyline. The only thing is, and you can only tell from the upper decks, is that the big area outside the stadium behind left field is a huge pile of dirt. They were supposed to be building a bunch of shops and things to make look nice and to put something close to the stadium where people could gather but it fell through. Its an awesome park though. I've been twice and its been a great atmosphere both times, in the middle of the season, both on weekdays.
7/14/2009 12:03:03 PM
w00t....I think its safe to say yesterday was a good day for Cards fans.
7/25/2009 8:12:06 AM
fuck the Cards
7/25/2009 8:19:09 AM
Yeah w00t for getting Holliday without giving up Ludwick. Piniero has been great and only has a 9-9 record to show for it.2.95 ERA and 1.08 WHIP. That's 8 consecutive quality starts. Think I read that he has walked like 3 hitters in 50 innings or something crazy like that.
7/25/2009 12:54:48 PM
http://www.mlb.com/stl/ticketing/allinclusive.jsp#clubAugust 12th game sitting in the BoA club! All inclusive beer, food and soda![Edited on July 30, 2009 at 4:11 PM. Reason : BE JEALOUS]
7/30/2009 4:11:47 PM
^Be prepared to get your High Life taken away. That's all I'm saying.
7/30/2009 4:17:31 PM
Holy shit, so there is a code to put in ('OZZIE') on the Cards official site and it makes the BoA club tickets soooo cheap -- $45. But Champions Club seats are only $75...Decisions, decisions. I guess it comes down to which one is closer to the field so Yadier Molina can hear my insults...
8/3/2009 12:16:05 PM
BofA club is higher up down the 3rd base line, just outside the Cardinals Club, Champions club is right behind the plate I believe, and you get a buffet!
8/3/2009 12:18:45 PM
I'm not going to REALLY be that New York guy... but I figured I'll only be to one game at Busch probably ever, so I'm thinking I'll do Champions Club. Will I be out of place dressed in khaki shorts and a polo? Should I wear slacks? Don't want to stick out like a sore thumb and those pictures seem pretty uppity (yeah, yeah... I know it's a damn baseball game).
8/3/2009 12:20:18 PM
Dude.... we're officially really hot.
8/16/2009 8:08:14 PM
Yeah but the schedule isn't always going to be Pittsburgh and San Diego each week.Really loving Holliday now. Lock his ass up. He and Pujols are as good as any 1-2 punch now.
8/16/2009 11:05:56 PM
smoltz?starter or set-up guy?
8/19/2009 10:30:11 AM
I said he should be an 7th/8th inning guy but I trust Dave Duncan. If anyone can turn him around its him. He's made Kyle Lohse and Joel Piniero into respectable pitchers. Surely he can form a HOFer back to form.
8/20/2009 12:41:40 AM
Damn bump this bad boy. 9 game lead bitches. Smoltz with 5 shutout innings and 9 ks. Wainwright and Carpenter heading up the Cy Young Race. Pujols almost a lock for MVP. Great season turnaround with adding DeRosa, Holliday, Lugo, and Smoltz.
8/26/2009 2:19:16 AM
red hot red birds
8/26/2009 8:43:59 AM
.590 winning %, 11.5 games ahead of the Cubs in their division, and tied for best record in the NL
9/8/2009 9:37:57 AM
Its been a hell of a run. Smoltz pickup could be huge but I think he would help more in the bullpen if we the cards make a run.
9/8/2009 9:50:23 PM
Wow almost a month....our last part of the season was boring though with it locked up.Carp vs Wolf tonight. If we win tonight I like our chances in the short series. It's so nice to have Carp back, I've missed being out of the playoffs without him.
10/7/2009 12:34:44 PM
The Cardinals are pretty much the NLs version of the Red Sox. GO ROCKIES
10/7/2009 12:36:50 PM
Are you kidding me with that? The SAME POSTERS have been posting in here for 5+ years. No bandwagon to see here.
10/7/2009 12:48:05 PM
actually, the Cards are more like the Yankeesin terms of World Championships
10/7/2009 12:51:15 PM
Either way...And you're telling me the Cards don't have bandwagon fans!?HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
10/7/2009 1:28:04 PM
EVERY team has bandwagon fans....even your Rays who had their first winning season last year. Rays hats appeared everywhere. Boston as you know are the definition of bandwagon fans. St Louis is a small city compared to the other pro cities that are known as "Baseball" cities like LA, Chicago, Boston, and New York. And yet their attendance is always knew the top. You will not find a more loyal group than Cardinals fans. Cubs fans will argue but they just are a bunch of idiot drunks for the most part. Hell 2/3 of the people at Wrigley aren't even watching the game. The Cardinals sucked badly for my teen years in the 1990s until McGwire, Edmonds, Rolen, Pujols, etc. came along. And yet they still had mine and a ton of others support. For years Todd Zeile, Rey Lankford, and Bernard Gilkey were the "star" players. Yikes.[Edited on October 7, 2009 at 5:23 PM. Reason : anyhow Go Cards!]
10/7/2009 5:22:46 PM
Bases loaded with 1 out and get 1 run...nice. Molina is still the slowest player in america I see.
10/7/2009 9:56:38 PM
And then a homerun on what the 4th pitch from carp? Might be a short post season
10/7/2009 9:57:41 PM
Carp is throwin meatballs. he needs to be careful
10/7/2009 10:21:34 PM
10/8/2009 10:43:04 PM
This is what I really hate about baseball. I really feel out of all of our post-season teams, this one is actually the best (and I realize we posted a couple of 100 win seasons a few years back.) We just seemed so well equipped for the post-season this year. Honestly, I do place most of the blame for this on Larussa..... I really feel like if he keeps Wainright out there, we win Game 2..... then that forces the Dodgers to beat either Carpenter (again) or Wainright, which would have been a big task. The big picture is though, we stumbled into the post-season playing mediocre baseball and we did not deserve to win. The Dodgers played much better, and honestly, we probably would have gotten beat by the Rockies or Phils too (the Dodgers seemed to be our best match-up.) I hate that a 162 game marathon has to end because of a 3 game dry spell, but oh well..... at least we're not the Cubs.
10/11/2009 9:52:20 AM
today, we are all brendan ryan's moustache.
10/11/2009 9:53:04 AM
Time for you to start the (cough-chuckle) "Official Cardinals w00t 2010 Thread" I guess...ha ha
