Morsell and T a combined 0-15

I swear we are better than them on a neutral court. Would love to see Duke in Greensboro.
2/28/2023 8:56:26 PM
Bit late terq, save em for next Wednesday
2/28/2023 8:58:24 PM
Yeah this Duke team has been very unimpressive to me
2/28/2023 8:59:32 PM
Well well well
2/28/2023 9:01:15 PM
Just when I thought I was out?
2/28/2023 9:01:27 PM
Missed a chance to foul the big, seems like
2/28/2023 9:03:20 PM
Joiner does all that after turning his ankleTerq needs to turn his brain, or something
2/28/2023 9:07:31 PM
well on paper the score won't look bad
2/28/2023 9:08:26 PM
Well maybe a couple of those late 3s at least helps T get some confidence back Also that 3 gives State the cover, I think. Was +6.5?
2/28/2023 9:08:42 PM
^Yep. Easy money
2/28/2023 9:11:39 PM
We should really try to get the ball inside more to get more free throws and not have 20+ FT disparities.Oh? What's that? We do go inside a lot? Hmm that's weird.
2/28/2023 9:12:24 PM
This dude in here talking about a cover
2/28/2023 9:13:09 PM
Jarkel is awesome. T has to do a better job of attacking the rim. His shot has been off lately. Morsell is purely a catch and shoot guy (and he’s been cold lately) so you can’t expect him to pick up much slack when T is off. Our guards, especially T, have gotta penetrate more. Drive and kick. Drive and get fouled. Drive and score. Drive and dump off to Burns. Lots of good things can happen when you drive. I assume that T shies away from that due to his slight frame but he’s gotta overcome that eventually. Duke couldn’t hit 3s tonight either. But they were driving and getting fouled or scoring or getting ORebs.

VT closing the season vs UL and FSU. No way that remains a Q1 win!
2/28/2023 9:16:31 PM
2/28/2023 9:19:30 PM
Yes Burns should’ve had 20 FT attempts. He gets no respect and receives so much contact every game. It’s unreal. At halftime T had 2 2pt FG attempts. For the game he finished with 4 2 pt FG attempts. I don’t think our guards consistently attacked the paint in the half court. And morsell isn’t the guy to be attacking. I think it’s a fair criticism of T. When shots are falling and he’s in a slump…maybe try to drive! One problem is he settles for too many floaters a difficult 2s when he does drive.
2/28/2023 9:36:41 PM
Burns averages nearly 13 FG attempts a game in acc play. Virtually all of those are in the paint. Sometimes while being double teamed. He’s an old school, wide assed, back to the basket post player who commands major attention from the defense. And somehow only averages less than 3 FTs per game in acc play. It’s wild.In 10 road ACC games this year he shot a total of 17 FTs! That shouldn’t be possible. [Edited on February 28, 2023 at 9:45 PM. Reason : R]

Joiner, Burns, and Clark put up a good fight. Baby T and Morsell were total no shows. Morsell took several bad shots when he was covered and baby T has been taking bad shots for several games now from way behind the line. Some of those were falling for him most of the year but lately they are not. We need Baby T to snap out of it in Greensboro so it is not all on Joiner. Shout out to Pass for some quality minutes tonight.
2/28/2023 11:15:07 PM
And I forgot to say that technical was dumb by Baby T, but was total BS and a flop by Duke. Dude looked like he was shot by a sniper or something. College basketball has gotten so soft on all these technicals and reviewing plays all the time.

2/28/2023 11:19:25 PM
That absolutely should not have been a technical on Smith.Good thing that turnover+ 2 free throws had no effect on the outcome of a 4 point game.
2/28/2023 11:19:36 PM
^^wow, it didn't look that bad in real-time, but that's pretty egregious

a flagrant 1 foul is two shots and the ball.
3/1/2023 8:10:44 AM
Ok I didn’t realize it was called a flagrant. I thought it was a technical foul.
3/1/2023 8:38:42 AM
Pretty good run and the last two games are pretty deflating.
3/1/2023 8:48:55 AM
Can’t wait for our (probably) 9:30 PM tip in the ACCT which will probably actually tip off closer to 10 Pm
3/1/2023 9:38:59 AM
I am guessing we are a bubble team for the NCAA.[Edited on March 1, 2023 at 10:07 AM. Reason : .]
3/1/2023 9:59:44 AM
Losing in our first ACCT would be bad. Losing at Duke probably didn’t change our outlook that much. Winning at Duke would’ve locked it up for sure. I think if we win our first game in Greensboro we’ve got nothing to worry about. If we lose…uh oh
3/1/2023 10:19:56 AM
I think we are safe for a tourney bid. It's just going to be a bad draw like we are used to.But I do hope we can make a weekend run in the ACCT and put the questions to rest.
3/1/2023 10:31:04 AM
A couple weeks ago I thought we had a legit shot to move up to the 6 seed line if things broke right for us (beat Cuse and Clemson. Maybe steal one from UVa or Duke). And maybe make a run in the ACCT. If there’s a silver lining, maybe we’ve dropped from the 8/9 line to the 10 line. Maybe.
3/1/2023 10:51:18 AM
so who do we want to win sat’s Duke/UNC matchup[Edited on March 1, 2023 at 4:09 PM. Reason : []
3/1/2023 4:09:01 PM
I would prefer a massive brawl that results in a double disqualification
3/1/2023 4:45:22 PM
I would assume Duke over UNC. We want to Duke to maintain Q1 status (probably will happen regardless but still). And in general I think we’d want to root against other bubble teams.
3/1/2023 4:48:50 PM
Duke wins 2-0 in a game that has to be finished with walkons bc all the players sustained medium sprained ankles from poor flop attempts resulting in repeated offsetting technicals and all players missing the acc tourney. Neither team attempts a single free throw.
3/1/2023 6:09:49 PM
3/1/2023 6:43:29 PM
I like the way you think.
3/1/2023 7:03:19 PM
^^worse than mild but not as bad as severe[Edited on March 1, 2023 at 7:33 PM. Reason : Not about the size of the ankle, but the severity of the sprain; ankles can be any size]
3/1/2023 7:32:15 PM
I thought you meant like…not a high ankle sprain and not a low ankle sprain. But a medium one. But I guess that would be a middle ankle sprain so never mind.
3/1/2023 8:44:37 PM

So a reason to hope Duke wins is to finish ahead of UNC. We could still lose a tiebreaker to them.BtwTHERE IS A 3 WAY TIE FOR FIRST PLACE!!![Edited on March 2, 2023 at 10:22 AM. Reason : Or we could just root for Miami vs Pitt, that would also clinch us 6]

https://twitter.com/d1scourse/status/1631327365925150727?s=46&t=lHWRQcd88WhEW7wh4gQSIwAccording to this we want Pitt > Miami for 6 seed That entire thread has all the scenarios.Duke looks to be pretty safe to stay at Q1 game. So that’s good news. [Edited on March 2, 2023 at 11:33 AM. Reason : A]
3/2/2023 11:31:55 AM
Who is ACC POY? Does Joiner have a legit shot?Bacot, Appleby, Joiner seem like the top choices to me. UVa, Pitt, and Miami all have pretty balanced scoring and don’t seem to have an obvious candidate. Appleby leads the league in points but he’s also had games with 8 and 12 turnovers!
3/2/2023 11:38:37 AM
Appleby probably. although I could see Bacot winning because it's UNC. Baby T had his chance, but lost his mojo.
3/2/2023 12:27:08 PM
^^^my deepest apologies but I think you misreadAlthough this kinda claims that doesn't matter since Virginia will probably win? So maybe it's the uva/pitt/Miami tiebreaker they disagree on. We basically would need Miami to finish ahead of UVAHmmm but Miami beat uva, so I'm back to thinking that a miami win is all we need?
