The most likely WTF transfers (and I wouldn't call them likely except that this is Gott's specialty) are Johnson and Kapita. If we lose either of them and keep Gott, I'm out on the 2017 team. As it is, it's not looking at all hopeful for next year barring another surprise recruiting class.

Abu and Henderson are both gone. Neither of them will go to the NBA, but they probably both realize another year here under Gott won't help them so why wait. Go make that $$ in EU or China.

starting PG job is his last year...but there are rumors that he's homesick. not saying he's definitely gonna transfer or anything.

henderson hasn't been granted the 6th year yet (don't think that would be official till after the season)...but i wouldn't blame him if he didn't want it anyway

Yes, the starting and only capable PG on the roster next year is Johnson. But with Gott, any transfer is possible.

Losing Johnson would completely wreck us for next year, regardless of whoever we hire to be our new coach.

New coach coming in and looking at a starting 5 of:
Johnson, Allen, Rowan, Kapita, Freeman/Yurtseven isn't that bad of a line-up to inherit, esp. with guys like Dorn, Kirk, and Hicks available too.

Still could see us looking at a grad-transfer guard to help out immediately, but think we'd be wise to bring in another PG in some capacity. I've read Allen can play some point but seems to flourish more in the 2 role and is a great shooter but a defensive liability.

If we hire a new coach, barring that guy bringing in a surprise top class, I don't think anyone could realistically expect him to the make the tourney in his first year. I actually think if we change coaches we'll have less transfers than if Gott stays. I've heard Kapita is "very likely" to transfer if Gott is still the coach.

^Dorn might not be a true #2 guard (sort of a wing/guard combo i guess), but i'd have him in the starting lineup over freshman Allen. i think Allen has a bright future...but i'd take veteran Dorn over him i think.

Very interesting to see that statistically, we have never really been close to any of the elite teams defensively. Of course we all knew that, but it's easy to see how closely actual ranking follows defensive ranking.

that wake game was literally multiple nails in the coffin. i've never seen a more defeated team in my life. as someone stated earlier in another thread, rowan would be a good asset on another team who could actually play D. he's able to score when it counts. it's pretty sad to see a star player such as DSJ give up when the going gets tough. Maybe this has been discussed, maybe not, but some NC State fans apparently were pretty open in their Gott hate at the Wake game yesterday. My step brother was at the game, sitting near the state bench, and told me that supposedly a lot of the State fans were chanting 'NO MORE GOTT-FRIED (clap clap clap-clap-clap).'

No idea if this is true -- and I hate booing a coach/players during the game. But this has to be a straight nut kick to Gott and the team if true.

Heard some rumors from people connected to the athletics department (mostly baseball) who are legit but could be full of shit on this but that the goal was to get Ray Tanner as the AD post Yow and there is mutual interest on both sides. On top of that there's a faction that wants this accelerated because Yow isn't going to axe Gott before she retires but people want it done instead of having a lame duck coach who won't be able to recruit and has lost the locker room.

I never heard any organized anti-Gott chants. The only time I heard/saw any State fans chanting anything anti-Gott was in the lower level beside the WF band and it was about 4-5 semi-drunk former-frat looking white guys. They would normally yell while WF was at the line bc of how quiet it would get. Best part though - when they started yelling Fuck Gott or some other profanity - old guy right behind them took off his glasses and got in the face of the primary culprit and appeared to basically tell him to shut his mouth bc their were families behind him. He complied w/o complaint and I didn't hear any more anti-Gott stuff.

By the way, maybe I'm just really old and out of it, but why was WF able to sell beer at their game? Does State sell beer at games now too?
