Bama is just trying to throw this away
1/2/2015 12:10:16 AM
I think they got stoned at halftime.
1/2/2015 12:11:56 AM
They've been playing on half the field for half the quarter. Should have taken the lead by now.
1/2/2015 12:13:11 AM
Damn, this game is actually gettin kinda crazy.Blake Sims is struggling. And McConaughey is ever so slowly luring me towards Lincolns for no reason at all.
1/2/2015 12:15:10 AM
I am pretty sure the guy with his helmet flying off over and over is DA BOZ's son.
1/2/2015 12:20:35 AM

1/2/2015 12:36:20 AM
Throwing on 1st down was a pretty bad idea...
1/2/2015 12:37:37 AM
Ruffin McNeil level clock management there.
1/2/2015 12:38:30 AM
SEC! SEC! SEC!
1/2/2015 12:43:17 AM

1/2/2015 12:43:23 AM
Wonder if my SEC ever wins another natty
1/2/2015 12:43:24 AM
Looks like a Pac12 championship
1/2/2015 12:43:29 AM
Alabama wasnt motivated to play in this game because ot wasnt the championship game.
1/2/2015 12:45:09 AM
I'm pretty sure NC State's third string quarterback has down syndrome .... wtf kind of voodoo magic does Urban Meyer have??
1/2/2015 12:46:02 AM
What.a.game.
1/2/2015 12:46:07 AM

1/2/2015 12:46:45 AM
Can't wait to question Saban's credibility when some of his players go pro early.

1/2/2015 6:16:48 AM
so are FSU and Bama gonna play for the BCS Championship?
1/2/2015 7:35:16 AM
A #4 seed getting in the first year just validates that there should have been a playoff all along. Upsets happen when you have to earn your win into the title game.I'm also happy because now I can hedge against my Ohio State futures bet
1/2/2015 8:11:45 AM
it would never happen because there's really no point to it - but i'd love to see a 3rd place game or consolation game from the playoff.

^^Would you really though[Edited on January 2, 2015 at 9:11 AM. Reason : ^]
1/2/2015 9:11:34 AM
^^ good post. I agree with what he said. Also we need to start a southern football credibility watch after seeing FSU and Bama lose and some games like Auburn choking and Ole Miss getting embarrassed.[Edited on January 2, 2015 at 9:15 AM. Reason : ^]
1/2/2015 9:14:55 AM
1/2/2015 9:41:49 AM
I mean FSU Bama would be entertaining in a vacuum, but not after they both just lost imo.
1/2/2015 9:53:36 AM
Yesterday was awesome. Fuck the SEC.
1/2/2015 10:02:02 AM
^^yeah that's true...i mostly just want more high level football games/teams instead of pitt/houston now
1/2/2015 10:10:15 AM
The supposedly invincible SEC West got pounded. Alabama, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Auburn and LSU all lost. It's time for the SEC bias in the media to calm down. Even going back to last year when Oklahoma took Bama to the woodshed, and Auburn got beat in the title game. They aren't head and shoulders above anyone anymore.
1/2/2015 10:13:14 AM
both winners should have done like the NHL and just take pictures with the trophies and not touch them
1/2/2015 10:18:24 AM
don't worry the anti-ACC bias is alive and well. since FSU lost for the first time in two years the ACC is shitty.
1/2/2015 10:24:51 AM
The top half of the SEC might not have had a great bowl run, but the bottom half did. I think that is really ultimately the strength of the SEC. Not that the best teams in the conference are so much better than the best teams in other conferences, but that the worst SEC teams are better than the worst other conferences have. The conference just has less trash, top to bottom it is superior and that is the SEC argument IMO and valid to look at the overall conference when making comparisons. Also, for those that like data, coming into this season over the past 10 years the SEC was 112-65 against other P5 schools. The Pac 12 is second at 79-68.. the ACC is the worst at 60-101. The SEC has 7 national championships during that time. People love the idea of an ESPN/SEC bias, but the reality is that 10 years of performance created the perception/bias even if it is maybe a bit overdone. The other conferences could you know, win some fucking games and maybe that wouldn't be the case. And to go one further, the SEC has had the most players taken in the NFL draft 8 years running, including 63 two years ago, which is the record for a single conference. In 2012 the SEC had the most NFL players with 329, the ACC was second with 256(46 from Miami). The ACC has actually done well producing NFL talent over the past 10 years, it just simply hasn't turned into college victories. I put that on coaching, I think there are some pretty bad coaches in the ACC that recruit off the name of the school and some great campuses/Universities but can't do jack with the talent.
1/2/2015 10:54:00 AM
I don't really think anybody truly believes that the SEC is now a garbage, fraud of a conference. It's still the best conference. But not head and shoulders better than the others like people were saying just a few weeks ago. And I'd argue that the SEC was head and shoulders better than the other conferences a few years ago. Other conferences have caught up a bit though.[Edited on January 2, 2015 at 10:58 AM. Reason : d]
1/2/2015 10:57:47 AM
yeah I think the SEC will always be at the top of the heap in college football, but the talent (both on the field and the coaches) is definitely being spread out throughout the country much more than it was 5-10 years ago. I do think that the perception of the Big Ten needs to change, Ohio State and Michigan State have amazing coaches and aren't the old plodding teams that the Big Ten has been perceived to be. Now with Jim Harbaugh going to Michigan it's only a matter of time before they are a perennial top 10 team again. The bottom 1/3 of the conference (Purdue, Indiana, Northwestern) will be bad, but the top and middle thirds can hang with the other conferences
1/2/2015 11:26:16 AM
You just basically described every P5 conference that isn't the SEC. 3 ranked teams annually, cluster of decent teams, and bad bottom tier.
1/2/2015 11:37:20 AM
that was kinda my point, there isn't much of a difference between the conferences, despite the perception
1/2/2015 11:50:28 AM
The coaching upgrade in the Big 10 will help, and playing a style of football that doesn't look like a replay from the 1964 Rose Bowl won't hurt either. It is funny how you can spin the perception however you want though. Ole Miss did get blown out, but they are playing in a major bowl against the best team in the Big 12 as the 4th maybe 5th best team in the SEC. Not sure any conference has a 4th best team that would have done any better. Miss. St. did play bad, but not the first team to come victim to that offense. Still an impressive year for a team that is generally no better than the middle of the SEC. LSU gets a terrible call on their fake FG and that game might be totally different, still it was OT not like they got embarrassed by a nobody program. 'Bama lost by 7 in the national semi-finals to Ohio St. Not like it was a blowout or they didn't belong, if those teams play 10 times it probably goes 5/5. And a highly motivated Wisconsin team, 3rd best in the Big 10, needed OT to beat Auburn, who is somewhere in the middle of the SEC, maybe 6th or even 7th? And they easily could have lost that game. Georgia is probably the #2-4 team in the SEC and they crush the #4 in the ACC. Arkansas and Texas are about the same level, bottom of the conference that were bowl eligible and they embarrassed Texas. South Carolina won at least, but Miami stinks. And Texas A&M who many on here said shouldn't even be considered a decent win looked good beating WVU. Mizzou somewhere in the 4-6th best SEC team, handles the #4 Big 10 without much problem. Miss. St. is really the bad loss, the rest I don't think prove much where a few of their wins might strengthen the perception. This is just if you want to defend the SEC, you can counter all these but just making the point that you can spin it to be bad for the SEC but if you dig deeper it wasn't an earth shattering SEC is "SUPER OVERRATED" bowl season.
1/2/2015 12:13:43 PM
That looks like a gigantic pile of excuses. "If the ball bounces this way", "if the ref calls this", or "if they had a different matchup" is irrelevant. You can't claim to be the daddy of college football and then get your doors blown off when you face legit OOC teams in bowl season. They need to be knocked down a peg after the conference's flagship goes 2-5. Period.
1/2/2015 12:41:02 PM
The SEC is deep which everyone knew and is still the best conference overall. They just don't have the best individual team. Honestly Oregon looks unreal right now. Maybe Meyer can get OSU past Oregon, but it's hard to see them stopping that offense.
1/2/2015 12:42:44 PM
that qb draw on 3rd and long was one of the biggest head scratching plays i've seen all year, literally could have costed the game for alabamaand the playoff def looks smart now, I'm sick of whiners saying well now the 5th and 6th teams will just complain and 9th and 10th if we go to 8, the difference now is if tcu and baylor had won all their games they would have been in
1/2/2015 12:53:59 PM
^yeah there's always gonna be at least one team on the outside looking in and they're gonna bitch about it. same as with the NCAAT in basketball - even though we all know the 70th team isn't gonna win it all.
