I'm still pumped from yesterday
11/11/2013 8:05:16 AM
Secondary seems to be sorting itself out, I know they weren't super challenged against SF, but they are starting to look just as nasty and mean as our front seven.of course, I hope I'm saying the same thing after the patriots nothing would make me happier than watching Tom Brady run for his life from a continuous four man rush while throwing multiple picks, regardless of the outcome of the game.
11/11/2013 8:20:20 AM
Considering Brady is just going to stand on his spot and try to deliver the ball, the defensive line can just tee off on him. Also, the Panthers only allowed 4 yards of offense to the 9ers the entire 4th quarter.
11/11/2013 8:53:08 AM
Yeah I feel like San Fran was a good test for the D Line and New England will be a good test for the secondary. If we get another win I will go ahead and say we are a contender in the NFC. We beat San Fran and should have beaten Seattle. Wanna see how we do against New Orleans but I will be a believer.

Panthers favored by 1.5 at home against NE.I am glad we aren't playing Tampa or some nobody this week. Will ensure we stay motivated knowing that the Patriots are coming into town.

NFC South (2-0) Games remaining (4): TB, @NO, NO, @ATLNFC West (2-2) Games remaining: NoneNFC 2nd place 2012 (2-0) Games remaining: NoneAFC East (0-1) Games remaining: NE, @MIA, NYJGood news is we've got our out of division NFC games out of the way with a sweep of the NFC North/East and a split with the West. bad news is the loss to Arizona, who is suddenly looking like competition in the wild card. we have head to head over everyone else important (assuming Seattle wins the West and #1 seed outright). with tie breakers depending significantly on conference wins (and currently sitting at 6-2 in the NFC), going 3-1 against the South puts us in a pretty good situation (assuming we can win 2 of those AFC games) putting us at 9-3 NFC. thanks to the win at SF, we have room for another WTF loss (we'll call this the Rivera Factor), much as the Buffalo game was. with Arizona looking like a contender, and Seattle being who we thought they were (despite letting them off the hook), those losses can be forgiven at this point.4 more wins in 7 games likely gets it done at this point, which seems plausible, provided the Rivera Factor doesn't return to form (as opposed to Riverboat Rivera). this team should have arrived last year, but things are finally looking up. take that, Cleveland.

I'm here, and I do concede I believe we are legitimate playoff contenders at this point. Are we a top 3 team in the NFL? No. Are we arguably a top 3 team in the NFC on a neutral field? I believe we are, at least the way the league looks right now(with injuries and such).Sunday's game showed that we have matured as a team/franchise. We played bad on offense and still won the game and we have a top 5 overall defense in the NFL right now, arguably the best run stopping defense in the league. Another big key is that we went on the road into a pretty good homefield advantage(arguably not on the same level as SEA or NO) and held on late in the game. We're now officially in the playoff hunt. As far as the Patriots game, I still have a hard time betting against Brady coming off a BYE week, but I am more confident in our team than I was a week ago. I still think we'll really need our front 4 to get a bunch of pressure and get Brady out of rhythm to win the game. Our gameplan should work well though, run to control the ball and keep Brady off the field, and make sure that we don't end up settling for FGs each time we get the ball.
11/11/2013 1:40:41 PM
We should be able to play the Pats like the Bungles did, and whoop up on emAlthough they do have Gronk back, but their defense is also Charmin-soft compared to San Fran's
11/11/2013 6:02:27 PM
Our linebackers are up to the assignment on GronkEDIT: Speaking of linebackers, AJ Klein looks like he could be a 5th round steal if he continues to play like he did yesterday. That sack where he got the personal foul called on Krapernick, stoning Gore on 3rd and 1, and that tackle on the fullback when they were on the 1 were all super plays.I hope he starts stealing some snaps from Blackburn and just let Chase be the special teams leader.[Edited on November 11, 2013 at 6:16 PM. Must mean Blackburn's injury is a bit more serious than they are letting on. Guess he will take AJ's spot on special teams

Just saw that Eric Reid's father wrote the Panthers and Rivera a letter commending Tolbert for kneeling and staying with his son after that hit.It was a classy move by Mike and cool of Reid's dad to do that.

as i am watching Panthers Game Day, I looked back on TWW for posts about Kuechly...forgot State was basically the other school aside from BC that was recruiting him...also while nobody was too down on him like drafting Cam, some where kinda like meh...but who knew what Davis, Beason, etc would still have leftand lol at Kuechly, arguably the best defensive player in the NFL, being a 3* prospect out of high school...gg scout and rivals
11/18/2013 1:18:52 AM
^I'm sure there are a ton of top-tier talents that were 2-3* players out of high school. Russell Wilson comes to mind, Philip Rivers, TJ Graham, Manny Lawson, etc. That's just from NC State.Aaron Rodgers, arguably the best player in the NFL over the last several years, had 1 scholarship offer out of high school.
