Q: ok so, moving onOn a scale of 1 to 10, how accurate is the portrayal of Raymond "Ray" W. Traylor, Jr.'s "Big Boss Man" character as it would relate to modern policing techniques?

BBM is your typical southern cop. 10/10.

I have had two co-workers get DWI's in the past month. Neither were involved in an accident, one was speeding and not sure about the other. Being a nosy coworker I wanted to see about viewing the police report. I was told police reports for DWI's aren't public record. Is this true?
12/11/2014 10:04:46 AM
12/11/2014 10:35:00 AM
Yeah it doesn't. Either they're all public record or they're all not (unless released).
12/11/2014 1:14:06 PM
The report won't having anything worth noting on it like a narrative.

Given your time in LE and using your own anecdotal evidence/experience, which would you say is more prevalent in the LE community; alcoholism or failed marriages?
3/9/2015 11:54:48 AM
Beating wives is the obvious answer.

What would happen if p0t was l3gal?
4/10/2015 12:47:44 AM
He'd probably be able to spend his time on matters that actually negatively impact our society.
4/10/2015 12:52:51 AM
I would cut alcohol out of my diet.

Have you ever nearly gotten in a wreck because you were paying more attention to the laptop in your car than the road?
4/10/2015 11:17:28 AM
Yup. A lot of distractions going on. The majority of your call information doesn't go through the radio so you are using the computer to get it.
4/10/2015 11:19:58 AM
Isn't there a law against that?
4/10/2015 11:30:41 AM
Nope.
4/10/2015 11:49:55 AM
will you at anytime in your career grow a policeman's mustache?
4/10/2015 11:57:40 AM
You know the answer to that sir.
4/10/2015 11:59:13 AM

So, "standard operating procedure" is to strip young dead-on-the-scene women down to their panties and take pictures of them when responding to a car accident? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3049253/Mother-sues-officers-removed-clothes-daughter-s-dead-body-nude-photos-fatal-car-crash.html
4/22/2015 3:35:26 AM
^ Photographing fatality wreck scenes is normal "standard operating procedure." In Wake county CCBI responds to do the photographs for evidence for fatality wrecks and most wrecks with major injury. For this department in Illinois they may take their own photographs (that I do not know). As far as removing her clothes, that is nothing I've ever heard of.My few theories for that are:A. The young lady was messing around in the car with her man as they were both intoxicated and doing whatever, causing the wreck.B. The clothes could have been removed or partially removed by medical personnel on scene during a life saving attempt.C. The wreck itself could have torn/ripped/removed clothing depending on the wreck/ejection etc. But, without being there or seeing the photographs I couldn't really say...
4/22/2015 7:39:34 AM
They probably took pictures to show that she wasn't wearing a seat belt for starters to discredit the drivers statement.

How upset are you that you can no longer make people wait so you can get a questionably trained dog to walk around a car so you can pretend that it alerted to have cause to search the vehicle?
4/22/2015 10:41:14 AM
^I came in to ask the same question. http://www.autoblog.com/2015/04/22/supreme-court-police-cannot-prolong-traffic-stops/
4/22/2015 1:25:28 PM
I ignore the standard dtownral troll. But TKE-Teg, this actually isn't anything new at all. I'm not sure if the supreme court just revisited the issue to make a more clear judgement or what, but this is how it's been for as long as I've been a cop.If you stop a car for traffic/CR/etc etc, you have always only had the reasonable amount of time during the normal course of a traffic stop to:A- Develop MORE reasonable articulatable suspicion that another crime is occurring (drugs). Which this has to be substantial suspicion, or even actual probable cause, but never a "hunch" due to history etc.B- Probable cause, usually due to the plain view doctrine or confession from occupantC- Consent after the stop has been completed and the driver has been told they are free to leaveD- Vehicle sniff as you're completing your warning/citation, vehicle/insurance/registration/warrant check etc. This case law is not new by any means as long as I've been in law enforcement, and it looks like it's clarifying if anything.
4/22/2015 2:02:21 PM
"Vehicle sniff"?
4/22/2015 2:03:45 PM
The dog walking around the outside of the vehicle, is called a vehicle sniff.
4/22/2015 2:18:54 PM
When you have decisions, such as the one referenced above, that may or may not change how an officer should react in a traffic stop or what is required for probable cause, what type of training is enacted to make sure officers are aware?
4/22/2015 2:22:31 PM
I like how a dog, trained to signal on command, can take away anyone's 4th amendment rights.
