i, too, think strange mercy may be my AOTY the more i listen to it, but i also never got tired of father, son, holy ghost. so i don't know. also saw st. vincent and had to sit out from the girls show even though i had tickets because i hurt my leg and couldn't bear the idea of walking to the metro, walking to the 9:30 club, standing on hurt leg for 2 hours, then walking home.
11/15/2011 8:24:21 PM
i dont know if anyone mentioned it before but im diggin on Nurses - Dracula

Donald Glover's CAMP is out now. http://www.metacritic.com/music/campI like it.
11/16/2011 11:57:17 AM
I don't know why, but it's weird saying St. Vincy has AOTY, but there's not another single thing that would even fit.
11/16/2011 1:06:58 PM
I think it's definitely my album of the year. especially after seeing most of the songs live.
11/16/2011 3:57:13 PM
the upcoming pc worship 12" is going to be the best record of the year.

anyone come across bry webb 'provider'? hearing great things but can't seem to find it.
11/16/2011 5:11:59 PM
hmm so winehouse actually recorded her third album but instead they are going with what looks like some shitty rehash instead, they need to get the real music out there and for fuck's sake did fiona apple die or go insane or something?
11/17/2011 3:28:00 PM
Holy shit Donald, stop screaming. We can hear you.
11/19/2011 1:19:07 PM
i didn't think the screaming was as bad as lot of people are making it out to be. I thoroughly enjoyed the album
11/21/2011 10:40:57 AM
I really thought Pitchfork reviewed this Camp album and panned the shit out of it, but I can't find it. Maybe I'm imagining things...

New Sharon Van Sluttenhttp://pitchfork.com/news/44706-new-sharon-van-etten-serpents/Also, I saw Cat Martino who is/was in her band last Thursday at the Pinhook. I was not impressed. The last thing she did was this methed-out Cure cover. The Loom was okay, though.
11/23/2011 10:01:44 AM
^Oddly, she was one of the neon dancers for Sufjan Stevens on his last tour. When I went to see him in Asheville, I thought it was the girl from SVE's band and then I looked it up, and sure enough it was her.
11/23/2011 11:06:48 AM
She does all the echoey background vocals I think. Because that's exactly what her show at the Pinhook sounded like. SVE is a pretty good songwriter, but Cat needs to stay out of the limelight, in my opinion.
11/23/2011 11:40:02 AM
Yeah, I really, really like this Gold Leaves LP.I'm a sucker for this stuff. Cotton Jones is another good example...[Edited on November 23, 2011 at 11:50 AM. Reason : k]
11/23/2011 11:50:09 AM
i didn't realize this new SVE album would have so many guest appearances. first single is pretty cool. rock on.
11/23/2011 8:21:42 PM
Not to perpetuate my natural tendency to be negative on here, but I can no longer stand Cults. It's basically unlistenable. "You Know What I Mean" I used to think was a good song earlier right when the album came out, but now the vocals are chalkboard scratch-esque to me. Anybody else visited albums from earlier this year to discover a "what was I thinking" moment?
11/25/2011 10:27:02 AM
got those 110% Black Keys and SVE leaksthat Blouse album isn't bad but the singer isn't different enough from Class Actress and it is distracting
11/25/2011 10:39:30 AM
^just listened to one track of Blouse's (from Pitchfork) and I like it. Vocal-wise, maybe, but it sounds different from anything by Class Actress that I've heard...
11/25/2011 11:37:34 AM
^^ what SVE leak are you talking about?
11/25/2011 12:05:00 PM
Zola Jesus.an Adele who said FUCK YO VOICE COACH.

I hate Donald Glover. Listening to his shit makes me appreciate Das Racist and I hate Das Racist[Edited on November 27, 2011 at 11:13 AM. Reason : .]

never been a huge fan of arctic monkeys, mainly because i'm fundamentally opposed to any artists that are fellated by the UK, but for some reason i decided to check out their new album today. "suck it and see" might be one of my favorite songs of the year.
11/27/2011 11:39:07 PM
Okkervil River just released Golden Opportunities 2. It includes a rad Jim Sullivan cover.Download for free here!http://www.okkervilriver.com/

^ lol, i got that email this morning.pretty cool
11/28/2011 9:47:58 PM
So i think i liked Of Monsters and Men the first time, when they were called Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes
11/30/2011 11:34:39 AM
so after one listen of the new black keys, i think it's better than brothers. i got tired of brothers pretty quickly though, and i thought there were a couple stinkers on it. i also really hate how dan auerbach's vocals have become so nasally over the last few years. bring back thickfreakness era dan auerbach please.also didn't realize charlotte gainsborough has a new record coming out in 2 weeks. looks like beck produced this one. i really like what they did with IRM in 2009. hopefully the new album rules. diggin this songhttp://stereogum.com/892332/charlotte-gainsbourg-paradisco-feat-beck/mp3s/if only beck would stop producing and start releasing more of his own stuff. maybe next year...

^jeez, that guy really hates that album (the reviewer. well and Scrumples too)so what's the hot christmas music this season? besides She & Him]
12/2/2011 10:39:17 AM
For you, it's the Ramseur Records Holiday album, featuring the Avetts, Jamie Lee Mayfield, etc.
12/2/2011 10:49:57 AM
lol, no thanks.
12/2/2011 11:13:54 AM
Love how he uses the phrase "pre-Kanye inferiority complex" and how he ends the review with "tell me that ain't insecure." It's not a very good review because it's more like a personal attack on Glover's personality than an analysis of his music, but it's still pretty funny.[Edited on December 2, 2011 at 1:20 PM. The Black Keys review today is one of the few truly entertaining Pitchfork album reviews I've read in a long time.
12/2/2011 2:13:35 PM
looks like they've graduated to the arena circuit now, which kinda sucks. i would've loved to have seen them at the 9:30 club in DC, but they're playing the verizon center, so ticket prices probably won't be worth it. shame on me for never seeing them anywhere other than bonnaroo from the release of rubber factory until now, i guess. good show for getting hammered drunk and rocking the hell out for 2 hours, though.
12/2/2011 2:50:48 PM

http://pitchfork.com/news/44808-the-avalanches-attack-bon-iver-over-whiskey-advertisements-grammys/Pretty funny drama, but another reason why Twitter really sucks. Not sure why they decided to pay this dude any attention, and I think what he does is a far cry from "rock n roll," as it's merely Steve Winwood-esque adult contemporary bullshit. But you all know how much I love Bon Iver, so yeah...
12/5/2011 4:35:28 PM
twitter is awesome. the only time it really sucks is in situations like this.
12/5/2011 4:45:58 PM
It's awesome if you're looking for attention, I guess...
12/5/2011 4:48:25 PM
if you have a problem with dumb fucks on twitter, don't follow them. It's not that thard
12/5/2011 4:54:26 PM
Easier than not having a Twitter account?I've just come to terms that the only reason a grown man would need a Twitter account is if he's famous or trying to sell somebody something. [Edited on December 5, 2011 at 5:25 PM. Reason : d]
