Been playing a Khajiit forever now rocking Heavy Armor, Block, Archery, Smithing, Enchanting, and Alchemy.Weapons are a waste, especially if you are a khajiit. Power bashing with the shield seems way more effective.

I sneak up on people when I'm using the bow, I just don't bother buying any perks for it.I think the sneak perks are silly.[Edited on December 27, 2011 at 5:52 PM. Reason : ]

^I'm in the same boat. I sneak a fair amount, but I use magic primarily so the sneak attack perks are useless. The other other sneak perks don't seem useful enough to warrant spending points in.

Thanks for that info about enchanting potion. I have Enchanting at 83 and Alchemy at 75 and working to max the two out and use dat 132% drank.

What's the recipe for enchanting pots? Are there blacksmithing pots that you can make? I've only thus far found those types of pots naturally, and the only way I can find alchemy properties past the first attribute is by randomly mixing ingredients. Also is there a house where you can have an alchemy table, an enchanting station, and a blacksmith forge? Maybe a faction hall like the Dark Brotherhood? Markarth is great since it has the enchanting table and alchemy, but forge is far away

Just got this for Christmas and am trying to get into it. Just killed that first dragon and have really been enjoying this one so far. Lot better communicating with people than the previous Elder Scroll & Fallout games. Done some smithing and alchemy as well. Pretty fun so far.

i pretty much only turn into a werewolf if I'm close to death and there are a lot of powerful enemies nearby (ie, a few giants and mammoths)...so i don't mind the time it takes to re-equip my badass daedric gauntels
12/28/2011 12:59:17 PM
Becoming head of the Companions was the first thing I did so that I could buy Archery and Heavy Armor training and then get my gold back, but I have yet to ever turn into a werewolf by choice.
12/28/2011 3:26:20 PM
you gotta try it at least once just to see how fast you can run, its insane
12/28/2011 3:32:40 PM
I only wolfed out once, on my way up the side of Mt. Tallasfuck. Still got my shit pushed in by an ice wraith, so I never gave it another shot.

Can you run up an impossibly steep mountain side like you can with a horse? That might be worthwhile, since that's about the only thing I use my horse for

I get the feeling that Cooking was an actual skill you could level up/find recipes for, since there are a ton of kitchens that you can find and talk to cooks in, but they just took it out near the end of development and gave the player all of the recipes
12/31/2011 3:18:13 PM
I do believe that cooking is a completely superfluous skill in Skyrim.

I recovered Grimsever for Mjoll today and in the process leveled up some sneak that I desperately need for the Thieves Guild quest line. I also leveled up smithing to 90 with the dwarven metal in Mzinalhvavleyrafltc. Now I just need to find some Daedra hearts that we were talking about earlier, wait enough days to let the Ebony Ore replenish, and up my alchemy and enchanting skills to max out my gauntlets. It's too bad you can't add like flames to your gauntlets that harm enemies when you hit them...that would be sweet. And I'm still having trouble with some enemies. Some of the Falmer in Mznearlhavlyadkfrcht gave me trouble. I'll have to level up my block and go L+Shield and R+Gauntlets to maximize carnage. It's been a while since I played though, because of the meds I'm taking.
1/1/2012 3:27:47 PM
Okay, so I used the block {glitch} (not the word I'm thinking of but I can't--for the life of me--come up with it) from UESP to level block with a bunch of giants and mammoths. The mammoths were much easier to block than the giants.http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Block

just go in a low level dungeon, wedge yourself in a corner, and let a mob hit you overnight.rubberband + controller = 100 block
1/1/2012 8:21:25 PM
I just went and let two giants beat one. It leveled very quickly

If you've done the Mehrune's Razor quest you can get 4 daedra hearts every 10 game days.

since my Smithing has been at 100 for awhile but I've only been using Daedric heavy armor, should I disenchant all my Thieves Guild armor, unlock the Dragon Smithing perk, make a set of the Dragon light armor (Dragonscale or whatever), then enchant the Dragonscale armor with the Thieves Guild enchantments?i'm tired of carrying around 3-4 different sets of armor, and i've absorbed maybe 25 dragon souls so i'm not at any shortage of bones or scales[Edited on January 1, 2012 at 11:56 PM. I'll likely make some new daedric armor eventually, since the enchantments I have on mine now kind of suck overall...at least compared to what I can get when i buff up my enchanting skill with pots and such.I really wish you could melt down armor into ignots like you can with dwarven scrap metal. That would be pretty awesome.
1/2/2012 10:49:01 AM
Yeah I always use Daedric. I haven't seen a reason yet why I should waste a perk in Dragon Smithing when it's actually worse stats wise. It's a bit lighter, that's all.I was also very pissed to find out that you can't re-enchant crafted weapons. I put some temporary enchant on my daedric greatsword so I could stock up on soul gems while I figured out what real enchant I wanted....Whoops.
1/2/2012 11:13:36 AM
how in the hell are you guys DE the nightingale armor? don't work on ps3
1/2/2012 11:41:25 AM
The legendary sets of enchanted daedric armor I've created for myself and my follower have made us into the harbingers of death.
1/2/2012 12:58:47 PM
Why do you just harbinge death? I usually bring the death, myself.
1/2/2012 1:02:36 PM
I'm just referring to the base thieves guild armor, I haven't gotten any nightingale stuff yet. I actually don't know if you can disenchant it, but the enchantments on it are very simple regardless

never should have started playing this game.on a more practical note:i'm a lvl 11 nord and other than being around 50 with two-handed, I'm trying to keep my single-hand, archery, and magics (mainly destruction and restoration) all roughly equal (around 25 each at the moment). Am I spreading myself too thin or is it advisable to hone a wide variety of skills? Or should I just say fuck it and go all tank with the guy?[Edited on January 2, 2012 at 7:16 PM. Reason : asdf]

I usually carry around a staff of ___ for when i hotkey to my heal from 2h so I can still put out some damage.
1/2/2012 7:20:54 PM
I had a one handed weapon, block, archery, light armor Khajiit that I got up to level 38 before I restarted and made the Khajiit character I have now.I was pretty unimpressed with one handed, but using the shield as my weapon for close up fighting has been epic good. My current character is < 30 at both One Handed and Two Handed fighting.I keep a Staff of Fireballs and the Sanguine Rose on hand in case it gets crazy, but I doubt it ever will.[Edited on January 2, 2012 at 7:42 PM. I bought enough daedra hearts from the guy in Winterhold College to make Lydia a full set of Daedric Armor and make a few daedric weapons and improve them all to Legendary, so I figured I'd finally make a shield and use that...weighs nothing since I'm under the Steed Stone and its pretty fun to bash people and have my gauntlets on my right hand to still punch peoples faces inbut i've also really been enjoying using my Legendary Daedric Warhammer which does 58 damage and fills a soul gem if (when) the target dies within 5 seconds
