Your mileage may vary, but talk to your doctor about the risks you're taking by inducing at 37 weeks. It's a good conversation to have. My Mom is a labor and delivery nurse (has been for 30 years), and she was telling me yesterday about the negative consequences of inducing too early. Also remember that your due date is an estimate, and weights on an ultrasound can be off in either direction by a pound or more. So, even though your baby might be "measuring" at 6.5 pounds (I'm just making this up, not saying those are your numbers), that's really not an accurate figure to go off of.I don't think it's weird to ask, or talk to your doctor about it, but I would be hesitant to do it myself.

I changed insurance during the middle of my pregnancy and it was not an issue (I changed at 30 wks). Only stressful part was seeing the bill at my drs office really high while the new insurance took it's sweet time to process. I would think even in a vaginal delivery you shouldn't have much of an issue meeting the deductible. We were more concerned with preexisting condition and not being covered.I personally wouldn't induce early or at 37 wks. As long as there's no threat to mine or the baby's health, I would want him or her to cook as long as possible. That's a convo for your dr.[Edited on May 2, 2012 at 10:28 AM. Yeah we were in an insurance transition during our first birth and it was just a minor headache to get the right people to pay the bills.

Congrats Smath!!Have any of you been pregnant after a c-section? My scar is burning (not itching) really bad. I have an appt. tomorrow and was going to ask. I am guessing it must be stretching but I can't even stand without doubling over.

5/5/2012 9:04:28 PM
Yay!! Congrats!!
5/6/2012 9:53:41 PM
So how did you react when you found out?Apparently my blank stare and no reaction was not the reaction or lack there of she was expecting.I was excited, trust...just didnt do it right I guess.
5/10/2012 3:34:30 AM
I showed Chris the test & he asked why I was taking another ovulation test. Lol.
5/10/2012 7:04:46 AM
^^Get ready for a trip. Hormonal changes during pregnancy are fucking insane.
5/10/2012 8:53:13 AM
don't scare him off too much. i haven't really experienced the crazy mood swings that a lot of women get (even chris agrees). i haven't had food cravings either. she won't necessarily experience everything that everyone else has, despite how much they insist that you will.
5/10/2012 8:58:38 AM
With the first one, I told my husband over the phone. With the second one, I showed him a pile of positive pregnancy tests. Both times, he was pretty much low key and dazed. Definitely no like jumping or screaming or shouting or "oh baby" sweet romantic hugs. Just a very pragmatic, "Alright then."
5/10/2012 9:05:33 AM
I squealed and hugged and jumped up and down though!
5/10/2012 9:24:27 AM
I got a text message saying "we need to talk" and i called her and got "i am not talking about this over the phone"so i went home thinking i had done fucked up something...so i walked in and said "alright lets hear it, don't play around, just say it" for which she said "I'm pregnant"...for which I just exhaled and stared aimlessly at the wall. I then hugged her and kissed her belly...but all her friends have had better reactions than me... She said next time she is going to slip it into a casual conversation where she is like..."we needs eggs, milk, bacon, im pregnant, a loaf of bread, broccoli" haha
5/10/2012 1:31:53 PM
lol, that's her fault then, imo.Next time you need to tell her something mundane, get down on one knee and do it.
5/10/2012 1:43:42 PM
^^ Yeah wtf that's not what you text someone when you want them to be expecting good news
5/10/2012 2:07:18 PM
^^^ congrats, great news. Don't feel bad. When I saw the positive pregnancy sign, I immediately went FUUUUUCCCCCCCCKKKKKK! at the top of my lungs. And she cried.
5/10/2012 5:10:52 PM
yeah, I had just picked her up and had been driving about 2 miles when my ex told me. I turned around and was like "we've gotta go back to your house--I'm gonna end up wrecking this car if I try to drive right now."
5/10/2012 8:58:46 PM
i have coworkers who repeatedly tell me (maybe a couple times a week) "you're gonna have a baby". i guess they're saying this bc my stomach sticks out a lot now...but i'm not really sure what kind of response they're expecting. the first couple of times i smiled, laughed a little, & said yup! but since they say it over & over, am i not reacting the right way? i don't really understand the point of telling me this so many times.
5/11/2012 9:59:23 AM
Maybe they're just idiots lol.
5/11/2012 10:03:35 AM
She said the last time she was pregnant, strangers would come up to her and be like "aww, you're pregnant"...and touch her bellyI told her the 1st stranger that comes up and tries to touch your belly is going to leave with a broke jaw.Why do people do that?[Edited on May 11, 2012 at 11:38 AM. Reason : yea]
5/11/2012 11:38:35 AM
i sorta understand the stranger & touching the belly thing. i mean i don't like it but that's just what happens. i don't understand why you'd say the same thing that's extremely obvious repeatedly to the same person. of course i know i'm having a baby. it feels like an alien trying to bust out most of the day (and a lot of the night). i can find the head, butt, & feet with my hand. i can see my stomach jumping around like it's going to detach from the rest of me. i don't need to be told.
5/11/2012 11:45:50 AM
i can't wait to see that
5/11/2012 11:48:40 AM
I'm going to post my bitter/disgruntled post for the month, then go back to being cheerful about trying to conceive!Yesterday was hard. Four pregnancy announcements on facebook, all wanted to coincide with Mothers' Day, and a negative test for me.
5/14/2012 12:32:06 PM
i feel for you. idk what all you've tried, but have you used an ovulation testing kit? and/or tracking your temp/cervical fluid/etc?
5/14/2012 12:44:48 PM
^^ I know how you feel. I was using OPKs, temp tracking, everything and it wasn't leading to squat. Now it turns out I probably ovulate later than those things indicate because my body is a freak like that. Would have been nice to have known that seven months earlier.
5/14/2012 12:49:46 PM
We've done the ovulation testing kits, and tracked everything. We've been consistent with sex every other day. I'm running an average of 32 days in my cycle, so I know I ovulate later. I'm not overweight, I'm taking my prenatals. I've cut all caffeine, and drink only a glass of wine on average a week. Not sure what else to do, other than just keep trying.I come from a relatively fertile family, so their consensus is we're not having enough sex, or we're "doing something wrong." But I thought sex every day wasn't ideal, since that decreased sperm motility and sperm count.^How do you know if you're ovulating later than the test predicts? I mean, are you saying that even when the test says I'm ovulating, I might not actually be yet?[Edited on May 14, 2012 at 12:55 PM. Reason : ]

I bought new bras this weekend at Victoria's Secret. I got them to resize me and I went from a 36C to a 36D. A few years ago (and 30 pounds ago), I was a 36B. I almost fell over when the lady told me I was a 36C last time I got fitted for a bra. My husband was like "Wow, you are still growing" and I was like "No, I'm just getting fatter"The bras I bought at VS fit me like a glove. I love them.Oh yeah, does anybody have suggestions for a belly band? I need to start wearing one so my pre-pregnancy work pants can still button[Edited on May 14, 2012 at 1:04 PM. Reason : f]
5/14/2012 1:03:28 PM
Okay, that's really good to know. Thanks! It's frustrating hitting what the test says is the "right" time, but it's good to know it can be off by ~2 days.
5/14/2012 1:03:57 PM
Yes! I was getting so depressed because everything was saying, "You timed it perfect! Expect a positive test!" and then nothing. I wish I had called my doctor sooner to ask her advice but I guess at the same time having all that charting was able to help her in advising me.

I found these great maternity pants at a consignment shop in Chapel Hill. They had the stretchy part in just the sides of the pants so they still look like regular pants. I think they might have been one of the Target brands? I haven't found any others like them since unfortunately.
5/14/2012 1:41:30 PM
i got some like that from target early in my pregnancy (bought them in maybe january of this year). they didn't last long for me. they started to fall/creep down very quickly once i was showing a little. they also had some at belk.i've got 2 pairs i could sell you then i guess. i wore the target ones twice. the others i don't even think have been worn or washed or had the tags removed yet. i'll check when i get home.[Edited on May 14, 2012 at 1:48 PM. yeah i really liked my bella band (from target) and also the stretchy maternity pants. i bought some work pants from target and destination maternity in crabtree (motherhood section). i also got yoga maternity pants from target and maternity leggings which are extremely comfortable. i got maternity jeans at kohls. i was all about the stretch panel as doing rubber band tricks or other things and wearing my pants lower than my belly always made me feel like they were going to fall off.
