Oh, good, so we can take Texas after all then.

LOL. If Craig James wasn't offered a shit load of money, his ass would have gone to a BCS-level school.
9/21/2011 12:56:49 AM
you know southern methodist wasn't in its current state at the time craig james went there right?
9/21/2011 1:03:19 AM
it just hit me how much of a self-fulfilling prophecy the 16 team conferences is. it's like a textbook definition.

The Bay Area schools were never going to vote to add TT or Ok State..:
9/21/2011 8:04:11 AM
^^ Yea - I agree. I just hope we aren't stupid enough to have them come in with that network and bully around this conference in the same fashion. If you want your own TV network, go independent. I seriously doubt it would harm their revenue too much in football. Finding a conference that will take you for other sports and not football would be a little more difficult though, but as has been stated many times in this thread, this is all about the football.
9/21/2011 8:18:10 AM
Two things1) ACC probably will stay at 14 now, because they have this weird idea that Syracuse owns NYC, which isn't true on their own.2) Forget about ACCT in MSG. With UConn, Rutgers, St Johns, Seton Hall and Nova still in the BE basketball conference it ain't leaving MSG..
9/21/2011 8:21:15 AM
Ugh, I hope the person that mentions "that R school" gets cancer
9/21/2011 8:29:33 AM
So, academics? When did we slip to dead last in the ACC, tied with FSU?
9/21/2011 8:37:12 AM
People bashing Rutgers in this thread are hilarious. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
9/21/2011 8:42:16 AM
The only people bashing Rutgers are the people with SEC-envy.Sorry you guys are stuck being fans of NC State (man oh man can you relate).

9/21/2011 2:17:26 PM
So obviously this is all up in the air--but a few questions:-If the PAC-12 is not expanding, then that may leave Oklahoma and OK State with nowhere to go. Rumors of the death of the Big 12 exaggerated? Pull it back together, invite some replacement teams, and carry on? Or is the dissolution of that conference a done deal?-I don't get the hate for Rutgers. Sure, their teams are nothing special now, but there is a lot of potential and they have been upgrading facilities. Plus they're a good fit academically (unlike WVU or Louisville), they get us a piece of the NYC television market, and they make sense geographically as Jersey is definitely on the Atlantic Coast. Of course, now that the ACC may stand at 14 if the dominoes abruptly stop falling, it may be a moot point.-Finally, why the hell does Penn State keep getting mentioned in this thread as a possible ACC member? Not in a million years would they leave the Big 10.
9/21/2011 2:53:23 PM
I believe the only reason Penn State's name has been mentioned at all is because Paterno made a comment like 20 years ago about creating a northeast conference with PSU, Syracuse, Boston College, Maryland and a few other schools that are currently in the ACC.Penn State isnt coming to the ACC
9/21/2011 2:57:51 PM
this whole thing has gone down the shitter today. I hope the ACC adds 2 more to split into 2 equal divisions so we can act like it was the olden days again & forget about the northerners. Why the fuck did we add Cuse & Pitt if we don't add anymore? /rant. sorry.
9/21/2011 3:17:50 PM
And if we add 2 more BE teams, shouldn't we do it soon? It would be awful to have 1 year (2014) of 14 teams and then go to 16 the following year, since the BE is sticking to their 27 month notification policy.

^True. And there has been quite an improvement on facilities on campus. Unfortunately there also has been a downgrade in personnel, class sizes, library hours and collection, and a myriad of other things. Thanks, legislature.
9/21/2011 5:27:16 PM
yeah, I travel by campus occasionally and see that (and still going on, saw the destruction of Talley for the first time in early August), but they just went on and on and on at the time about how if this thing didn't past how it would harm education in the UNC school system due to all the funds that'd get sidetracked, and it did anyway[Edited on September 21, 2011 at 5:39 PM. Not a fair comparison. At least the Naval Academy had David Robinson.
9/21/2011 9:57:13 PM
They need to leave the academies alone. They have a long rivalry going on with each other and the last thing we need is the BCS screwing that up.
9/21/2011 10:05:47 PM
^^^There goes their basketball rep.
9/21/2011 10:30:12 PM
The academies should be independents. I would hate to ever know that they didnt play each other every year because they were trying to look more competitive for the BCS.ECU to the Big East would be pretty awesome.
9/22/2011 1:34:38 AM
On the one hand, at least they'd quit whining and maybe we could get out of being forced to play them since other big schools would have too.On the other hand, I don't think i could handle the level of smug that would envelop Coastal NC.
9/22/2011 6:43:26 AM
If ECU actually get accepted to the Big East, they'll make a BCS game before we do Might take 20 years, but still.
9/22/2011 6:51:19 AM
Heard something on the Dan Patrick Show today about the possibility of Notre Dame joining the ACC. Wouldn't be the worst addition but we would really be getting away from the whole atlantic coast thing. Probably wouldn't happen, if I was running ND I would want to stay independent.

Makes sense to me. Their hoops prowess dies with Calhoun. The last 20 years are an aberration. Long term, they're no different from Akron or Central Michigan.
