Only 333 R8 GTs will be made, and only 90 of those will come to the US.To be able to get your hands on one, one must have serious cash AND connections.

He is the CEO of a decently sized company (not in North Carolina).Im excited to see it, itll be the only "supercar" ive ever actually been able to poke around and really take a good look at. Not to mention, I've never ridden in anything nearly as fast as its supposed to be.
7/10/2011 9:03:22 PM
someone owns an R8 in my neighborhoodi've seen a tesla around 70/40 several times...who owns that?
7/11/2011 8:18:40 AM
really, if you drive an exotic to a race where people are racing a version of the car you might want in the near future... you can pretty easily meet the people you want to, to get you into that car.
7/11/2011 8:48:29 AM
Was surprised to see this after dinner in Holly Springs
7/28/2011 10:52:29 PM
Just went out for a Sunday afternoon drive with my boss in his C6 Z51, a pilot friend from work in his SRT-10 Viper, and a retired corporate lawyer that we know from the bar in his 997 GT3.
7/31/2011 5:22:26 PM
Boring, boring, boring and FANTASTIC!! Did you get to ride in it? -Talking about the magnum wagon in the background of course...
7/31/2011 5:31:31 PM
Not yet. He's mentioned letting me drive it if I let him drive my Z06. Haven't had a chance to, yet.

Benz SLR McLeron in buckhead and an audi R8 outside my hotel lastnight in midtown ATL

you really can't call a viper boring i mean the thing is potting your demise the entire time you're driving it... you just don't know it. I don't know if i'd consider a gtr an exotic anymore..... but man they're getting intriguing.I saw one with a tune, a turbo back exhaust and an air filter that ran a 10.9 and are still on stock turbos so is regular track drivable too..... that's friggin awesome. Probably needs a new clutch setup but still.
8/1/2011 8:28:29 AM
is an Acura NSX exotic?
8/1/2011 8:59:54 AM
some of the guys in here mistake "exotic" with "cars I want to own/drive," so you're bound to get a no to thatI would say yes- no longer in production, low numbers released here, and I think they are cool cars- coulda used a V8 though.
8/1/2011 9:15:34 AM
I would say "no". Of course, there's lots of stuff in this thread that isn't exotic...just, well, noteworthy.Like, the SRT-10 Viper or Porsche GT-3 don't really count as exotic, but they're a little noteworthy. The two of them together on a drive with 2 vettes was enough cumulative coolness that I posted it in here.
8/1/2011 9:42:46 AM
i thought i saw an NSX the other day... but it turned out to just be my neighbors v6 accord driving backwords.

Went down to SC this past weekend. Driving through Beaufort we were seeing all sorts of Porsches...then I saw this one. Had to follow it to get some pics.

that's not an exoticoh wait
8/8/2011 9:39:11 AM
did you leave a note. "sorry i creamed in your exhaust i meant to pull out, i usually don't go this fast but... its a carrera gt"
8/8/2011 9:58:09 AM
Hmm, I wonder if there was a PCA event at CMP or Roebling Road and these fellas were just chilling afterwards.Sweet fucking car(s). If I come across a Carrera GT at the DE this weekend in Charlotte I'll probably need to change my shorts.
8/8/2011 1:22:24 PM
I looked it up and I think it was a PCA rally from Beaufort to Savannah.

^a Hyundai?
8/24/2011 12:33:36 AM
Glad the license plate was scratched out, or I'd use my top secret license plate lookup tool to find important details about the Hyundai owner
8/24/2011 12:57:05 AM
because you know that when you drive on the roads, no one can read your plate except the police...
8/24/2011 2:18:21 AM
NO ONE!however if i was making some james bond shit like a license plate tumbler i would look up similar cars on the internet to make sure the plates at least matched the make and model. I guess the only other shortcut would be to go to a car show for that model of car.
8/24/2011 8:23:57 AM
I think porcha needs to be banned from The Garage for this...
8/24/2011 9:23:36 AM

8/29/2011 8:10:51 AM
Saw this today at south hills mall near the dmv tag office
8/29/2011 3:19:49 PM
Saw a black Aston Martin from the patio at Vivace. Dude circled the lot 3 times until a spot directly in front of the restaurant opened up for him. Then he got out, walked one lap around the place and then left after no one said anything to him. Then everyone in the place sighed collectively and said "What a douche" in unison.

coming down to be an instructor?
9/4/2011 11:30:48 PM
Yep. I'm here, actually--at NAS Pensacola, though, not Whiting Field. I'm staying at the Navy Lodge on base right now.I really don't want to live in Pace...it will be a really long commute to work, and it's far from the restaurants and nightlife in Pensacola...and not as close to the beach as I'd prefer. Mostly, it's the work commute, though. However, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to live in the same school district as my ex, because I haven't yet figured out how to manage having my daughter half the time without her being able to ride the school bus.If I could logistically work things out so that I could live near Pensacola Regional airport, or maybe even in Gulf Breeze, that would be way better...but I'm not that optimistic.

Very interested to hear some more details about that "submersible" boat. It looks just like the ones at our SBI races, so I'm skeptical about that. You can't really submerge a boat, for a lot of reasons. The first including that the engines require air to operate. The second being that a boat is designed for buoyancy, so it would require an assload of ballast to get it under the water. Also the hull of that boat is definitely designed to provide hydrodynamic lift, which would combat any submersion. I think a submersible one would look massively different. It looks just like your average canopied (albeit an expensive, turbine-powered) boat to me.
9/6/2011 11:52:45 AM
The lines and turbine engines looks like something MTI would to do me.http://marinetechnologyinc.com/2011/03/mti-48-foot-cat-sets-the-pace/I'm assuming he meant that the boat can crash through a swell and survive rather than getting swamped. I knew a guy who got a bad bounce on a 26' Donzi and ended up with water almost up to his knees after he crashed through the next swell.[Edited on September 6, 2011 at 12:48 PM. Reason : l]
