It was super easy too Just sign up for their newsletter and buy the postcards when they're "free." Then you're just paying the $2.50 to upload your own design (that's what I did) or you can use one of their premade designs and you just pay s/h.Also, I agree with the bottles being a bit much for the save-the-date. Most people are going to go, "Oh neat..." and chuck it in the trash eventually. Save the chucking in the trash for the actual invite if that's what you want to do [Edited on April 15, 2010 at 9:42 AM. Reason : ,]

^oh..good to know about their newsletter. i was also looking at using them for my save the dates. my cousin is going to design our save the dates. she's an art teacher and sells art on the side. she has some cute characters. was it $2.50 per postcard to upload your own image? or just a one-time fee?
4/15/2010 11:00:08 AM
if you can i would love to see your save the date designs.im relaly curious!
4/15/2010 11:01:30 AM
^mine? or anyone's in general?i'll show you mine once it's created. it may be a while since we're not getting married until october of next year, though! if anyone is interested in my cousin creating your save the date, i'm sure she'd be happy to do it for a small fee.

^anyone's really.all of you have some really cute ideas to go with your themes!
4/15/2010 3:55:23 PM
^this was our prototype. the final that we sent to everyone was 4x9 and there were three different versions as we had difficulty choosing a favorite sequence to send to everyone. the photostrip was mounted to a black/brown striped card stock which was mounted to cream card stock; we glued magnets to the back. it in no way incorporated our "theme" for the rest of the wedding. we just wanted to do something fun w/ a magnet so people would put it on their fridge.

Ahh well, I know a save the date is just suppose to be a little part of the wedding but since I already bought my invites for super cheap (print yourself at home, no real "cost") and they weren't anything too special, I decided to just say f-it and get the mini bottles and do the message in a bottle. My family all lives in the same area so we will just hand out a large majority of them...For those we do mail, it won't cost more than 60 cents to mail the bottles. I'm excited about them even if it is over the top for a Save The Date.I went with the silver topped ones without the corks.
4/16/2010 3:44:18 PM
^^where in Vegas? We are not doing Save the date cards since we are doing a small destination wedding, with less than a 1/2 year engagement. I already ordered the invitations though.
4/16/2010 4:02:45 PM
^^i don't think they are that over the top at all!i think they are really cute.it's you and your future husband's wedding...if thats what you want to do-then do it!we have a couple of things we're doing that are pretty over the top, but cody and i really, really want them so we said F-it too.it's our day [Edited on April 16, 2010 at 4:24 PM. Reason : PS i LOVEEEE those save the dates too. freaking cute.]

^Aw, I know hon I loved yours too. I wish we could afford a photo booth at the reception...It would be so fun! At Orton did you rent the scenic river overlook?I finished a mock up of the message in a bottle using the FREE maps my kick ass friends got for me and my 40% off bottles. so whoever posted the idea to set up their own camera with a tripod and a box of costumes & props-- i ended up telling a friend ab it thats getting married at the end of the year and she is going to use your idea!
4/18/2010 11:58:56 PM
Even if I could afford the booth, the idea has been "claimed"...My fiance's best man proposed a week after J proposed to me so the past three months has been me and him trying not to step on his best man and fiancee's toes...(she is a BM in mine and I am one in hers...) and she has already staked claim to the photobooth idea(and green bridesmaid dresses, monogrammed towels, and a few other things too...) I personally think it is such an adorable idea and that it wouldn't matter if she did the same thing or not....but my fiance said it'd be like a declaration of war.Tell your friend if she has a mac to use photobooth - it's bascially a program that takes photo booth style pictures that can be printed out a variety of sizes.[Edited on April 19, 2010 at 2:41 PM. i have a bunch of girlfriends getting married at the same time and we have no problem whatsoever stealing each others ideas! ahahacody and i are meeting with the planner tomorrow at 6 to go over major vendors and get that all set up.i am bound and determined to have everything set up by the end of the summer...and just worry about outfits and tweaking things during the school year!
4/19/2010 5:14:08 PM
I just got a save the date in the mail for a friend getting married in Vegas...YESSSSSSSSS!!! First Vegas wedding So excited!

4/19/2010 7:12:29 PM
Ok, honest opinions please. I know it's super early to even be thinking about this (because I won't be ordering them till this time next year)... but do you like this idea for save-the-dates?or[Edited on April 19, 2010 at 9:10 PM. Reason : looks a little unpolished, but you get the idea]
4/19/2010 9:10:15 PM
^i love that second one!!!is that your own idea? so original!
4/19/2010 9:23:18 PM
I like the second one a lot--much cleaner look to it than the first. Cute idea!
4/19/2010 9:26:27 PM
second one-- but spice up the keyboard a little bit!
4/19/2010 9:45:06 PM
The second one is the way to go! Make the text smaller I think.
4/19/2010 11:35:00 PM
^ Yeah I would keep as far away from that as possible and just do what you want to do. If she actually gets pissed at something in your wedding, she's a crazy bitch that you don't need to be concerning yourself with.
4/19/2010 11:39:32 PM
^^you're letting her need to be 'unique' really get in the way of planning your own wedding. I agree, no ideas are really original (the savethedates above have prob been done before, too!). You can't let her, her fiancé, or YOUR fiancé make you feel guilty for doing what you want. Is her wedding going to be before yours? I'd stop sharing ideas with her, too. I think planning should be fun and a time for you to preserve some great memories, so make sure you're having fun!!

4/20/2010 7:46:29 AM
i have to agree with most everyone about that situation.i'd stop planning with her!sounds like it's more destructive than constructive im doing greattttt. i talked to jeremey recently.he said something about going out after our last final and you may be around?
4/20/2010 10:06:10 AM
I have a silly questionDo you guys think it's cheesy to get married on your anniversary date? I.e., our anniversary is April 28th. Well, it's looking more and more likely that we will be having a 2012 wedding (due to being out of state for school because USC and Mt Sinai are my top choices)... and I just realized April 28, 2012, is a Saturday... it'll also be our 5 year anniversary. Soooo... what say you? Cheesy or no?
4/20/2010 11:25:19 AM
nah not cheesy. its cool that it worked out that way.
4/20/2010 11:38:07 AM
i think it's cute!!cody and i debated on having our june 23rd 2012, which would be 5 years from the day we met....but there is no way i want to even partly plan a wedding my P3 year! ahaand i also didn't really want to wait that long so yeah-GO FOR IT!
4/20/2010 11:47:36 AM
Love the anniversary idea...and plus, it makes it easier on the boy...haha. A win-win!
4/20/2010 12:31:24 PM
I told Eric and he agreed it would be a good idea... mainly because then he would "only have one anniversary date to forget" (not that we would keep celebrating our dating anniversary but whatev)soooo... I looked up the USC academic calendar for 2012 (since I already know I would be "done" until graduation around that time at Mt Sinai).... Classes end May 1st and finals wouldn't start til May 3rd, then graduationI think would be able to swing it if I go to one of those places
4/20/2010 1:40:56 PM
yo someone get married on 12/21/2012
4/20/2010 1:53:18 PM
Joie can I be your official wedding photographer?I will be using this:
4/20/2010 2:17:45 PM
4/20/2010 8:03:12 PM
We tried to do the anniversary thing, it was March 22, 2008 and it was a Saturday, but of course that year it was the day before Easter, so it was a no go. Had to change it to March 1. We still kinda celebrate both though, since if we had gotten married then it would have been our 7 year anniversary.
4/20/2010 9:44:27 PM
It really all depends on if I go to USC or Mt Sinai but I think it would work out really nicely... Especially because I'll have 2 years to plan so I would have plenty of time to get my shit together before the big day arrives, even if it turns out to be right around exams! Then we can get married, I can take my exams, graduate, THEN GO TO DISNEY WORLD BITCHESSSS
4/20/2010 10:29:15 PM
