The XD-m, in the full size category, is nicer than a M&P, has higher capacity, and has interchangeable back straps, so for the very similar price, why not get more bang in your 40 or 9mm 5 inch service pistol?
12/8/2008 12:51:10 AM
i thought it was weird that XD-M touts a 'match' grade barrel. wtf is that bs.
12/8/2008 1:08:43 AM
i was just going from personal experience- they both feel about the same to shoot, but the MP had less muzzle flip and it produced more precise groupings than the XD did for mebut it really is up to the shooter to decide what is comfortable for him/her
12/8/2008 3:35:50 PM
I'll be going to PDHSC on Saturday around 3pm if anyone is interested.

Anyone want to split some bulk Federal Tactical (FliteControl) 00 buckshot?Ammoman has it $200/250 shells
12/8/2008 8:42:19 PM
looking to pick up a few ar-15 lowers (unassembled) before the new yearanyone have any experience with the denny's guns models? decent prices, great looking products on the web, but never seen one irl
12/9/2008 8:40:49 AM
I ordered my Crossbreed Super Tuck Deluxe
12/9/2008 7:51:01 PM
Ammoman is out of any calibers I need. darn those hoarders.
12/9/2008 9:29:03 PM
12/9/2008 9:36:25 PM
^^ he won't be shipping any new orders until middle or late Jan.It sucks, i have been waiting on ammo for the past 3 weeks.
12/9/2008 11:11:49 PM
ammunitiontogo is my new source.
12/9/2008 11:37:36 PM
^^ yes, the M&P has the back strap deal, that was the biggest thing they had over the XD, now that the XD-M has the same feature WITH a load of other things tacked on, plus springfield was running a 'get 2 mags and a carrier free' coupon with new gun purchases.
12/10/2008 12:05:15 AM
^^ do they charge shipping?
12/10/2008 9:49:18 PM
OC Meet: ReminderCicis Pizza in Cary.683-F Cary Towne Blvd - Cary, NC 27511 US7:00 PM Saturday December 13thThen the second Saturday of every month. Locations TBD.I'll be hitting the range earlier that day as well if anyone is interested. You can try out a 'C' model as well if you haven't before.
12/11/2008 12:49:14 PM
^^sadly they do. ammoman is MUCH better in that respect.
12/11/2008 8:19:36 PM
Wideners.com is alot close to NC and charges less shipping, I go to them first.Ammoman is an asshole price gouger.
12/11/2008 8:21:31 PM
I've had good experiences with Ammoman, however I always shop around before I order.
12/11/2008 9:52:32 PM

Anyone had their hands on a Savage 99? I'm thinking of selling my T/C Encore and picking up one of them.
12/14/2008 12:00:20 AM
the Encore...is that the rifle or the "pistol"? how accurate is it?[Edited on December 14, 2008 at 2:34 AM. Reason : nevermind, that's the rifle...Contender is the one I couldn't think of.]
12/14/2008 2:33:41 AM
what caliber is your 99? the TC is damn good, even better with aftermarket barrels and you can get it in some funky ass calibers. The JDJ and whisper stuff is especially weird but oddly attractive.
12/14/2008 3:13:24 AM
I thought Widener's would be better on ammo prices, but I guess I was wrong. 165gr Blazer Brass $15.50 plus tax and shipping OR $12.47 plus tax at wal-mart.
12/14/2008 3:17:24 AM
walmart is hard to beat on the common stuff, I like graf and sons for all the weird stuff. -
12/14/2008 3:19:29 AM
^^^ Well I'm thinking I want one in .308 WIN, which seems like a good all around cartridge for the Eastern Woods.^^^^ I've topped both my barrels (.50 black powder and .270) with Leupolds and can shoot (roughly) MOA groups .
12/14/2008 9:52:02 AM
Is your Encore a pistol? If so, what barrels do you have any how much would you want?
12/14/2008 9:23:15 PM
Rifle, Pro Hunter version, .50 Blackpowder and a .270 barrel. Both 28"I'm not going to sell it until I have a gun to replace it, but I'll post on TWW when I do.
12/15/2008 6:03:57 AM
I heard that Savage Arms is tooling up to remake the 99 in some kind of run. Might be a thing to consider for a while as older 99s are somewhat short in supply.
12/15/2008 6:13:36 PM
hrm . . . very interesting. Where did you find this information?
12/15/2008 6:21:18 PM
So far, I love this holster
12/15/2008 7:11:25 PM
.223 pistols....... Whats the scoop?
12/16/2008 12:14:13 AM
whaddya mean? like the sig 556 pistol?
12/16/2008 1:49:52 AM
AR pistols are fun to shoot but are not very practical. I enjoyed mine but sold the upper recently, I didnt get that much use out of it.
12/16/2008 7:31:15 AM
Keltec makes an affordable version of onei'd like to try shooting one
12/16/2008 12:46:18 PM
its not that big a deal, dont believe the internet hype about your face melting off and all. its got some thump, but its no more apparent than a 16" ar or ak.
12/16/2008 2:54:58 PM
stop taking away all my fun but on a different note, I'm looking for a good safe that I can install in my truck. It would be in my truck underneath the bench seat in the rear, so it can't be too big. I'd like to have this by next monday so I can take it down to GA with me (my brother has the tools there so we could get it bolted down and ready for quick release if necessary (from the inside the safe, of course))anyone know where I could get one? It doesn't need to be fancy (although, I would like an electronic key pad if possible). I've checked 4 walmarts in the area, as well as sam's club and no one has anything in stock. Any other ideas?
12/16/2008 5:01:29 PM
davis, PDHSC and lawmans should carry safes you can bolt down
12/16/2008 6:00:13 PM
pdhsc doesn't carry safes...don't bother.Lawmens has a very small selectiondavi's may be your best bet
12/16/2008 6:02:53 PM
got me an xd-40 today. Excited as hell. So damn excited that I forgot about picking up some eyes and ears. If anyone has some they're trying to get rid of/know a good deal on some, let me know (PM me please)

Interesting, and sad, article about police failure to respond:http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/12/16/grace.coldcase.zimmerman/index.html
12/16/2008 6:25:52 PM
http://pdhsc.com/products.htmscroll almost to the bottom, and find this http://www.gunvault.com/ I have read many good reviews of this one, it runs forever on a battery and has a key override just in case.
12/16/2008 8:27:25 PM
as I mentioned earlier, I just bought an XD 40 cal. This is my first gun, so I was wondering if some of you all could recommend/post some good sites on anything dealing with XD's, target shooting, cleaning, ammo, etc (I know I can google this - and I have - but I'd like some stuff with recommendations from you all). Thanks [Edited on December 16, 2008 at 8:38 PM. Wally world had some remington electronic earmuffs the other day with a sweet sale price. glasses are your choice but I like the $10 pairs from lowes.
12/16/2008 9:06:59 PM
^^^^The police have no legal responsibility to respond. Just another reason to have a firearm and know how to use it.

I have 2 no name class electric lock safes with key override, both function well, and as they sue a cheap solenoid to pick the unlock, and you then manually turn the unlock handle, they keep functioning. Not as fast as the swipe finger or type code and drop open types, but fast enough. The small by bed one is a stack on drawer safe from dicks sporting goods, got it on sale for 15 i believe. Holds 1 gun plus mags and flashlight just fine.my truck safe is a Honeywell that was a Big Lots bargain safe.Honeywell 2050 0.55-Cubic-Foot Shelf or Floor Safe with Digital KeypadWalmart caries them via web, or can do free site to store where it is shipped tot he store for you to pick up. Amazon has them, so do most of the off the wall security shops. Note a fire safe, but a decent portable
