zorthage and I are looking for stuff to put up on our walls. we like naked women, but we'd like stuff we don't have to take down when someone's family comes over.anyone do this sort of thing, or have a buddy who does? I'd rather pay the photographer directly, than go through something like allpostershttp://tinyurl.com/eah3ythat's one of the ones we're considering.http://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=317343for vargas and others...anyone have a favorite purveyor of prints? Why is this photo "ronny-esque?"I don't have snakebites, gauged ears, or a pierced septum.[Edited on July 29, 2006 at 2:23 PM. Reason : .]

as far as w/ the peasant cam, you can do some post processing to bring out the pics a lil bit.[Edited on July 30, 2006 at 10:41 PM. Reason : what kinda camera did you use?]
7/30/2006 10:36:24 PM
I know nothing of postprocessing.once this snazzy new mac arrives and I have some real blocks of free time, i'll delve into it.[Edited on July 30, 2006 at 10:42 PM. Reason : canon S3 IS...why?]

^ Good shots man. Whats your rig again? They're all supersharp. I keep feeling my photos dont come out sharp enough. Maybe I should use a smaller aperature. And yea, the blue glow was from the inflatable pool.
8/1/2006 12:04:25 AM
Thanks! I'm using a Canon Rebel XT with the kit 18-55mm lens. I should be shooting more of these in RAW, though I've had good luck with post processing some of my pictures with the Canon software.
8/1/2006 12:20:26 AM
^ Nice man, Canon all the way!Like I said, I'm really impressed with your shots. Great quality. The fact you did this with the kit lens is amazing.I hated my kit lens and I havent used it since I got my 28-135 and other lenses. Maybe I'll have to give it a shot again
8/1/2006 12:24:20 AM
I can agree pretty much 100% with the review of the XT's kit lens on dpreview.com. The closer to 55mm, the softer the image goes. The 3 shots above were taken at 30mm, 18mm, and 27mm, respectively, all with a polarizer filter. I want to buy a good lens in the next month or so. By comparison of price with better lenses, I guess for ~$100, the kit lens is still a deal.

Alright, I don't know what happened to this thread but its getting slow. Here's one to get us started.I can't seem to get the photo seamless.

^^^^^Thanks quagmire. After the heatwave subsides, hopefully you can get more shots done.Looking good everyone. Glad to see people posting again.^ Yea, it also puts the damn tww watermark on the bottom.[Edited on August 3, 2006 at 3:50 PM. Reason : ]

8/3/2006 4:21:14 PM
For the food shots you should have stopped down a bit and gotten more DOF.

^^^it's not their usual, but since it has espresso in it...see if espressoporn.com likes it?Sooner or later, I'm going to get around to fixing my pictures. My dusk pictures from the mountains on the last day were disappointing. I'm sure it didn't help that with a front moving through, and us on top of the mountain, the light wasn't cooperating, and i still hadn't played around with my camera at sunset, so didn't know what adjustments needed to be made. anyways - this is mostly what I haveThe color is pretty accurate...slightly lacking in the amount of orange, but that's it.WWI memorialSomewhere along The Devil (either TN or NC rt 19 or 23... )Same.zorthageWhat happens when suburbanites aren't there to kill every little pest they come across.Chicago's lakefront.Taste of ChicagoModel train set at the Museum of Science and Industry.[Edited on August 3, 2006 at 5:45 PM. ^ good stuff Ambrosia. You took an assload I'll also have to check out that espressoporn link ^^^ They wanted the smallest DOF possible. I have others with stopped down but this is what I delivered to them.
8/3/2006 5:48:31 PM
Why would you want a thin DOF for product photos?I figured they'd want the product visible, especially something like that.
8/3/2006 5:50:00 PM
They have alot of restaurant/cafe magazines here in Boston and most of them have photos with a narrow DOF. They wanted to emulate that feel.
8/3/2006 5:52:16 PM
point is he did what they asked for... and they are good looking pictures.

8/4/2006 12:39:48 PM
Did you take that photo? It looks underexposed, and the sky is blown out (metered wrong/funny). Try not to cut off body parts (elbow, finger). A rule of thumb with photographing people is never cut off a body part where it bends (knee, elbow, ankle, etc...). The split background with her head right in the middle is a bit distracting is what I meant. She has a line growing out of the top of her head. But that is just my two cents.[Edited on August 4, 2006 at 1:32 PM. Reason : .]
