4/8/2011 12:16:27 PM
Jeff just freaking KILLED it. He had an incredible rant on athletes with tons of kids by different women, and of course his trademark statements about his wife, clothing, car, estate, etc

I thought Gottfried did a great interview...he came off really well.A bit off topic but does anyone have any insight into the feud/dislike between Rome and DP?
3/19/2012 9:38:25 PM

The only sports talk beefs I'm aware of are DP vs ESPN and Rome vs JT the Brick
3/20/2012 1:30:47 PM
Rome getting "stolen" by CBS was the second best thing to ever happen to ESPN.Yanking Steven A. Smith's show from primetime is #1.
3/20/2012 5:44:11 PM
^^
3/20/2012 5:45:44 PM
DP doesn't have to care about Rome, DP is in a different league altogether. And I really like Rome.
3/20/2012 5:48:00 PM
^I agree I used to like Rome a lot more tho, way more of a Dan Patrick fan now since the absence of Travis Rogers.I heard the Rome & Adam Sandler interview during the Super Bowl on Radio row and Rome asked about when he can get a guest spot on Sandler's next movie. Sandler's response was essentially, your boy DP will be on the next one you can guest star with him etc and Rome laughed at it, changed the subject and then took it to break uncomfortably. It just seemed like there was some beef, plus DP Paulie etc always mock Rome with the "rack 'em" commentsIt just seems odd since typically they don't compete against each other since they're both broadcast at different time in major markets.Anyway, forgot about it until now so I apologize for the blog post here, was just always curious
3/20/2012 8:40:02 PM
Duff McKagen interview was pretty cool today.
3/22/2012 4:43:40 PM
some hilarious calls today calling rome out for the firing of "isiah thompson"
4/10/2012 4:37:33 PM
#hackoff
5/10/2012 12:33:26 PM
it's really weird hearing shitty callers try to be good callers and not getting run w/i the first 10 seconds
5/10/2012 1:14:28 PM
Lol, Adam Jones (orioles) just dropped a "Hey Chris Everett" on Jim to start his interview. Didn't sound like he liked it too much
5/30/2012 2:41:13 PM
lol @ the stern interview
6/13/2012 2:17:58 PM
i just heard that stern interview. holy shit what a douchebag (stern).
6/13/2012 4:40:35 PM
Stern is a low life piece of shit.
6/13/2012 4:51:03 PM
Stern is a rogue and a highwayman.
6/13/2012 5:36:13 PM
i doubt we'll see any kind of objective commentary from espn either, since they're in bed together
6/13/2012 5:45:52 PM
Bama Z was saying Rome's wife should file a defamation lawsuit against Stern and the NBA
6/13/2012 5:46:43 PM
Stern is a douchebag? Seriously?I loved the response. Its a question that is intentionally designed to be loaded. If you say Yes, then you beat your wife. If you say No, then you used to beat your wife and don't any more. Either way you lose. His point was the question is bull shite and there's no way for him to answer the question and win. Those who believe its rigged won't believe him no matter what.
6/13/2012 8:50:41 PM
Stern is ridiculous. If he doesn't want to get the "is the draft lottery fixed?" question, then don't have a draft lottery. He's been getting this question for 25+ years, ever since the Knicks got Ewing. If you do it like the NFL and the worst team gets the best pick then no one asks that question anymore. You have to combat the question of "are teams intentionally losing games" but if you cannot control that, then you're not a very good commissioner. The NFL created an environment that encourages players to bust their asses no matter how crappy their team is. Because you know what, if another team sees film of you half assing it to lose games on purpose, you won't have a job.He was really a douche bag to Jim Rome in that interview and I pretty much detest listening to Jim Rome. He's typically an antagonist and poses things in ways to provoke a reaction. This clearly was not done to rile up Stern, but he took it there anyway. Stern is a dick, he's lucky he was commish during an era that had Magic, Bird, Barkley, Jordan, Kobe, Shaq, and Lebron. They have kept the league alive despite his lackluster leadership skills. Fuck you David Stern. Fuck you right in the asshole.

6/13/2012 8:59:14 PM
6/13/2012 10:38:44 PM
I dont really see any other logic to having a lottery besides having it as a means of control.Sure teams could loose on purpuse but then the players would be fucked.
6/13/2012 10:56:45 PM
6/13/2012 11:04:56 PM
They are both douchebags. The difference is people expect a radio host like Rome to be a douche.. it's how he gets people's interest; the commish should come off a little more polished.
6/13/2012 11:17:29 PM
KillaB's post ftw
6/14/2012 1:06:10 AM
Stern can think its ridiculous to question if the lottery is fixed but what was everyone saying the next day? I think most of what people were saying was probably joking but the format of the lottery and the position the league was in by owning one of it's own teams made the question reasonable I thought. I'm not in the business of defending Rome, because he's a clown, but I don't think the question was accusatory. Interviewers often ask questions they know the answer to. Why didn't Stern just say: "You know, I think the idea that perhaps our draft lottery is fixed is completly absurd. In fact, it's so absurd I hesitate to even address it. Representatives for each team are present, we have he accounting firm there, its just not realistic. No matter how it ended up there would be those that want to have a conspiracy theory. And I'd really rather not devote any more time than that to this sillyness."Boom. Sign me up to be NBA Press Secretary.
6/14/2012 9:00:04 AM
Rome should have just asked him why in the hell they do the lottery behind closed doors. What the hell is the purpose of hiding it if it is not fixed. Do it live and watch dumbass team representives reactions. It would make for better TV and ratings IMO.Stern was a total prick yesterday and the way he acted was embarrassing to the NBA.
6/14/2012 9:07:07 AM
Stern has to have heard the accusations that his league is rigged for many years with the doughany incident and now this draft among a ton of other things. I could see why hes defensive about it but when Rome looks more professional than you that's not good.
6/14/2012 9:43:33 AM
it is quite hard to make rome look like the sympathetic figure....kudos Stern
6/14/2012 10:13:17 AM
The Stephen A Smith line was the coldest diss of 2012 thus far
