I think it's funny, all these TWWers talking about how they'd run to the Arctic or some other wasteland. like you guys know anything at all about how to survive in those places ]
3/12/2008 7:11:26 AM
well, we're thinking we bring along someone who does know how to survive out there
3/12/2008 7:15:25 AM
i hear youre supposed to cuddle with a pretty lady for warmth.
3/12/2008 7:26:18 AM
I'd like to think that I could. Might be a little rough, and could easily end up just dying, but that's always a chance, even when you know how to survive. However, I do know how to stay warm in an emergency by curling up inside my Tauntaun during the blizzard.
3/12/2008 7:32:41 AM
i'd get eaten by a bear or a penguin or something
3/12/2008 7:33:38 AM
I never said I'd be able to survive in the northern Canadian wilderness, I just said that it would be an ideal environment for avoiding zombies. I guess Bear Grylls would survive. hah, that would be cool if Man vs. Wild did some kind of parody zombie survival show.V Get that shit out of this thread, we don't need any of that damn Bear vs. Les trolling in here.[Edited on March 12, 2008 at 8:54 AM. bear grylls wouldn't survive out thereles stroud would
3/12/2008 8:51:04 AM
Drake Clark don't play that.
3/12/2008 8:56:30 AM
Make a couple improvements and I think that'd be a pretty nice zombie weapon if you've got the higher ground.
3/17/2008 9:00:33 AM
^That wouldn't be an effective weapon unless it was against only a few zombies (and in that scenario there are better weapons). The time needed to pull it back and the backswing is too much. It wouldn't work too well in a closed in environment either.
3/17/2008 9:21:48 AM
RUN!!!! RUN!!!! RUN!!!!
3/17/2008 9:42:57 AM
the Lirpa would be a much better choice. you can make stabbing motions at their head/necks, and then more rapidly be able to hit the next zombie.[Edited on March 17, 2008 at 12:00 PM. Reason : ]

i'm willing to carry all the technical knoledge to rebuild socitey from the coming apocolyspe i can start saving all wiki information right now.
3/18/2008 11:47:53 AM
I don't think you guys are taking into account that if the virus spreads to the wildlife and infects the polar bears up north, we'll be screwed. The only thing worse than zombie dogs are zombie bears.See, here are some that could take down our armored convoy:]
3/18/2008 12:26:53 PM
zombie for the hell of it

Can anyone speak to the strength and stability of various kinds of power lines? A friend of mine had the intriguing thought that they could be used to move foraging parties around the city. Of course, even if regular ones don't work, the current version of the Grumpy Zombie Plan involves a location with immediate access to high-tension lines, which I'm confident could be used for limited mobility and, with the towers, an excellent monitoring spot.I've also revised the essential personnel list to remove most wolfwebber-types and replace them with some of my other acquaintances, including, among others:a gun-crazy survivalist blacksmitha large-breasted nursea former mechanic who is now a tree-climbing lumberjackThese strike me as marginally more useful.
3/19/2008 12:39:28 PM
considering the pictures of a moose and a car suspended on the powerlines (or maybe telephone lines) they're probably pretty strong. that's just my observation though

Smath, that Lirpa is actually quite a good weapon to use against zombies as it gives you a good striking distance, the counterweight gives good speed, and the bludgeon on the end can also be used to break open doors and windows. The only thing though is that you probably would have a hard time finding one unless they would be in some kind of martial arts dojo or something.
6/2/2008 12:02:55 PM
Or on the planet Vulcan.
6/2/2008 12:47:50 PM
We will need shotguns. Lots and lots of shotguns. Instead of securing buildings, we should move underground. Create a fast network of tunnels and fallout shelters to reach the surface. Fortify the stairs with claymores and automated turrets. Once again, we'll need lots and lots of shotguns. A handy blade wouldn't hurt either.
6/2/2008 12:55:40 PM
^^^^Nice shirt, but I'm not actually sure that I'd want the types of people I see out in public following me. I'd just use them as zombie food to get me more time to escape.I need a good sword (not good with a gun, etc), some running shoes, thick clothes and I need for them to be shamblers instead of sprinters.
6/2/2008 1:03:34 PM
^^claymores and turrets would not be much help against a virtually endless supply of targets.
6/2/2008 1:13:17 PM
not to mention the fact where the hell are you going to get claymores and automatic turrets at the drop of a hat when the zombification starts?
6/2/2008 1:34:54 PM
Maybe you're on a military base? I gotta believe you're already in pretty decent shape at that point anyway.

will cellular networks stay up for a while, you think?my Blackberry has Google Maps which could be a boon for a while
6/2/2008 4:37:58 PM
I tend to think cell phones will be all but useless for the most part - in the early stages they would almost certainly be inoperable due to the massive call volume. That would clear up as the human population dwindled, but by then I doubt many of the networks would be operable. I'm no expert on celluar networks tho.

I had a lucid dream involving a zombie invasion last night, it was pretty excellent.
6/3/2008 7:25:59 AM
moving underground is also a deathwishgreat way to get corneredalways take the high ground
6/3/2008 10:32:50 AM
I've bounced back and forth on the high ground issue a lot. Taking over the top few floors of a building, even one only as tall as the wolf village buildings, can make for a very secure spot. but it's like the cat stuck up in the tree with the dog barking down at the bottom. How do you effectively move from that location without exposing yourself to a severe amount of risk?
6/3/2008 10:50:42 AM
^Agreed. I don't want to have to choose between the zombies and jumping off a tall building to escape.
6/3/2008 11:04:41 AM
tall buildings are the way to go. the key is to have enough supplies on hand until the zombies eventually decompose enough to become unable to move.
6/3/2008 11:11:23 AM
I'm wondering if you were on a water tower or something with zombies surrounding the bottom... how effective do you guys think a few molotov cocktails would be in just setting them all on fire? In a regular building it would probably result in setting the building on fire too, but on a tower like that it wouldn't be as big an issue. I guess all the fire and crap would probably just attract more zombies though.
6/3/2008 11:16:32 AM
from my experience, all fire does to a zombie is make a flaming zombie.[Edited on June 3, 2008 at 3:07 PM. Reason : ]
