i usually de-stress with a 6 pack and game of thrones but, hey, whatever works.

Hey Monday, thanks for the extra dose of Murphey's Law this morning. It was very refreshing after getting almost no sleep last night.I'll be ok once I make it to lunch.

trying my best to kick this cold before it can set in. any tips?
1/28/2013 10:19:02 AM
^^^ hey, I've been geeking out about game of thrones/a song of ice and fire before the TV series was even a reality and I have an entire bar cabinet full of craft beer so they're not mutually exclusive to liking furniture [Edited on January 28, 2013 at 10:23 AM. Reason : ]

elise and I both swear by Emergen-C.I drink it twice a day whenever the kids are sick or I'm feeling under the weather. It may all be in my head, but it sure seems like it helps.

right now i'm more into the tudors until GoT season 2 comes out on dvd and season 3 comes on. i also like to harvest my crops on the oregon settler game i downloaded on my ipad. i have a very cool home life, obviously.
1/28/2013 10:24:17 AM
Season 3 should be awesome if they do the book justice (I know it's not covering ALL of book 3 but still). I haven't seen the Tudors but heard good things.

Which would be cheaper/more fun for the bride? A DC bachelorette or Vegas? Hmmm...
1/28/2013 10:42:14 AM
^^it's good. not the same as game of thrones but still interesting to me since it involves power hungry politicians, chopping off heads, and whining kings. and natalie dormer as anne boleyn!^DC!!!
1/28/2013 10:46:20 AM
Cheaper- DCMore fun- Vegas
1/28/2013 10:48:12 AM
^^For this particular bride I am thinking so as well. It's also drivable...or we could take the train.^well you would say that didn't you get married in Vegas?[Edited on January 28, 2013 at 10:49 AM. Reason : ]
1/28/2013 10:48:17 AM
dc is so fun though! i could walk up and down the mall forever and ever. and they have really cool restaurants and bars. it's pretty much my favorite little big city and i'm still sorta bummed we didn't move there. i'm sure vegas is more crazy but i'm too old for crazy now
1/28/2013 10:53:23 AM
I'm going to a DC bachelorette party at the end of March. we'll be living up there already and i don't know your time frame of when you're looking to do a bachelorette but i can let you know how it goes. i imagine it will be a lot of fun - i have been out to DC plenty of times and there's tons to do during the day and at night.
1/28/2013 10:58:23 AM
Go to Savannah or Nashvillethey're both great for bachelorette parties!
1/28/2013 10:58:42 AM
^i know brides that have done both in the past year and had great times.
1/28/2013 10:59:39 AM
DC you don't even have to go downtown. you could stay in clarendon and still have a row of bars to hit up in a 2 mile radius that are actually really fun.
1/28/2013 11:02:46 AM
i've done Savannah and Charleston as well before. both fun - we did Savannah St Patty's Day weekend and Charleston in mid-August. also have done some wine tour bachelorette outings in NC which was a lot of fun. we left from Charlotte because that's where the bride lived.
1/28/2013 11:03:35 AM
Savannah wouldnt be out, but Nashville is as the recent wedding she was in had the bachelorette there.I just know she'd love walking around and going to the smithsonian during the day before a night out. I've got to convince the other matron of honor (yes 2 of us and only members of the bridal party) that dc > Vegas.[Edited on January 28, 2013 at 11:05 AM. Reason : ]

I'm the best man in a wedding and the groom requested we go to Minneapolis for the bachelor party this summer. Minneapolis[Edited on January 28, 2013 at 11:15 AM. Reason : asd]
1/28/2013 11:15:35 AM
Minneapolis? seriously?if i'm not mistaken, doesn't that entire city shut down at like 11pm every night?
1/28/2013 11:16:22 AM
1/28/2013 11:19:28 AM
That's. different.^we're all here in Raleigh. Most of the guests are too. Only a few, if they came, would be coming from out of town. Wedding is here as well.I'm torn over the whole thing honestly. The bride is of the "I don't want people spending a lot" which I get, but I feel, and i think the other MOH does too based on our conversations, bc she was such an awesome MOH for us we'd like to surprise her completely with a trip. my friend's fiance is having her bachelorette party in Toronto (she's canadian, her MOH lives in Toronto). but that's still asking her bridesmaids to fly to Toronto all on top of their destination wedding being in Mexico.

if you could see the face I made when I read Minneapolis lololwow

i've never been married or been a maid of honor so i don't know tons about this kind of stuff -- when you have a bachelorette party are your friends supposed to pay for everything?? SWEET

DROD900 talk to Gainey. He lived in Minneapolis for a year before moving back to Raleigh. He wasn't the one who told me, but he may have some insight. and yeah, all of the other bridesmaids are in Charlotte. so they have to fly to Toronto and then a month later fly to Mexico. haven't heard any rumblings about it....yet.the groom for this wedding is so indecisive, so we have no idea what we're going to do for him. He's talked about renting a car and doing something like a 5 MLB stadium tour, but not sure people would want to take the days off needed to make that happen.

good lord I don't understand the people on craigslist . We go and see something in person today over lunch and said we were 100% ready to buy at the full-listing price but that we couldn't pick it up today and the lady says it is fine because they didn't need to get rid of it within any time frame or anything and we could pick it up Saturday. 2 hours later we get a text that said her husband sold it for $40 less than listing price this afternoon without checking with her.[Edited on January 28, 2013 at 3:37 PM.
