It’s amazing how fragile democracy really is. All it would take for trump to get away with murder would be for republicans to hold the house and more pro trump extremists to replace the senators resigning. In districts electing republicans, are they going for moderates...?If Ginsburg ends up retiring we could see decades of progress on civil rights, women’s rights, environmental policy get undone. No matter what mueller finds for it to have a real impact voters would need to make the right choices.

over/under on Trump pardoning him if he were convicted?
10/30/2017 9:09:53 AM
Those charges seem prettt fucking serious. And honestly, I see this ending very, very badly. Sessions/Trump are going to be working overtime to get HRC and Obama on something. You can see it coming. I hope our institutions hold..[Edited on October 30, 2017 at 9:21 AM. Reason : Twitter tells me the conspiracy charge isn’t as bad as it sounds]
10/30/2017 9:18:17 AM
Perhaps we need a new thread for the Mueller investigation, because it seems to me that the charges against Manafort and Gates are serious yes, but have nothing to do with Russia.
10/30/2017 9:27:46 AM
I mean, the head of the Trump campaign was engaged in money laundering with pro-Moscow Ukrainians. It seems at least tangentially related but your post is actually exactly what the WH talking points are..
10/30/2017 9:33:22 AM
^^manafort has signficant ties to russia, and the indictment itself is about one of those (hiding pro-russian ukraine payments)[Edited on October 30, 2017 at 9:35 AM. Reason : ^this]
10/30/2017 9:35:12 AM
Well, the key will be what information Manafort has.WH claims he's got no info, but if he does, it could be country-changing.But as the charges currently stand, there are still no official ties.[Edited on October 30, 2017 at 9:38 AM. Reason : sdfa]
10/30/2017 9:37:40 AM
don't forget the blackmail texts:https://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/paul-manafort-blackmail-russia-trump-235275we now know the payments were real, and they claim that trump had direct meetings with pro-russian ukrainian assets, which then connects to trump's pro-russia ukrain peace plan, and pushing for a russian friendly GOP platform position regarding crimea, and also ties back to flynn, etc...all this shit is related[Edited on October 30, 2017 at 9:49 AM. Reason : .]
10/30/2017 9:48:01 AM
It's not just laundering. There's conspiracy charges too
10/30/2017 10:14:04 AM
Nothing in there about Trump and his campaign though... right?
10/30/2017 10:23:15 AM
^So far just his CAMPAIGN MANAGER.
10/30/2017 10:27:58 AM
I get that, I'm not trying to be intentionally obtuse. Just pointing out the charges didn't mention anything about Trump's campaign. In related news, George Papadopoulos pleads guilty to lying to FBI agents in Mueller probe.
10/30/2017 10:32:50 AM
And copped a plea deal and answered questions for the investigation. That seems to be a bombshell to me... flipped?[Edited on October 30, 2017 at 10:36 AM. Reason : Lied directly about Russiantoo]

10/30/2017 11:19:32 AM
There should be zero pardons for any of this.

This is a very interesting find in the indictment:https://twitter.com/CongressmanRaja/status/925027554351894528“Let[‘]s discuss. We need someone to communicate that DT is not doing these trips. It should be someone low level in the campaign so as not to send any signal.”
10/30/2017 11:58:54 AM
apparently based on the indictment numbers and case numbers there may still be a sealed indictment, but i don't know enough about how indictment numbers work to know if that's true
10/30/2017 12:07:35 PM
^probably Flynn's

The stuff in the Papadopoulos plea is really juicy. Much more so than the Manafort/Gates indictments which seems more like typical white collar crime.

Democrats see your Benghazi and raise you Russia. You know they don't have anything when they have to slow drip the little things they do have in hopes to draw a confession. If they had anything of substance on tape, they would've acted on it, just like if they had anything on anyone who was actually in the administration, they wouldn't have told us "stay tuned for arrests on monday" so we could hype it up all weekend. Meanwhile, all of the attention is diverted away from our country's problems
