Thx! Staying at the park hyatt for free, normally ~1K a night + a 2 night stopover in Munich.
8/14/2014 7:17:23 PM
ha yeah we did the same thing. Stayed at the Park Hyatt for two nights free with the Chase Hyatt card and then three more nights free with Chase UR points transferred to Hyatt (before Hyatt increased their hotel categories and points).

Two questions....1. Chase Sapphire Preffered - My fee will be due in October. I don't really want to cancel, but i'd like to have the fee waived. Should i call and request to cancel or just request to be bumped down to the Sapphire basic? 2. Leaving for Europe in a couple weeks, thinking about applying for the Barclay Arrival+ before I leave to get a jump start on the spending limit and also the Chip & Pin technology. What do you think? All but about 12k of points on my Chase are used up, so i figure it's time to get on another card.
8/15/2014 10:32:45 AM
So, I have never really looked into reaping the benefits of points on cards, etc.My wife has a Target red card where we get 5% back on every purchase. We get most of our groceries from there, as well as all basic household items. We dont travel a ton, so airline points arent THAT enticing..but would be cool I suppose. What card/programs would you guys suggest for us? What are the best deals at the moment? I'm just kinda lost and not sure where to start with all this haha.

1. You could call Chase and ask them to waive it or ask for some pts. If they don't do that you can just downgrade it.2. Sounds good^^ Chase pts can always be redeemed for cash if you really never travel.Sapphire is probably the most popular at 40k pts sign up bonus ~400 in straight cash
8/15/2014 12:18:27 PM
You can sell them for more though, right?
8/15/2014 12:52:59 PM
Yeah, I'll buy them for 1.1 cents each

^ When calling in what do you typically tell them to get approval?
8/15/2014 4:57:24 PM
Barclay pushed it through but said I should spend more.Citi needed approval to move around some credit.Other times I'll have to close a card in order to get approved for the new one.Chase is usually nosey as fuck and wants to know why I need 8 chase cards.[Edited on August 15, 2014 at 5:08 PM. This is an old deal, but I'm considering the BoA mastercard. You essentially get 25-30 bucks every quarter for paying off the max account balance regularly. Only catch is you have to have a non zero balance every month of the quarter. There is no cash back, so this card is strictly for making 120 bucks of free money every year.
8/25/2014 10:47:53 AM
So you're just gonna charge a little bit to that card every month to get $120 of free monies?Guess you could set up a subscription bill on it or something...
8/25/2014 10:52:23 AM
I'm considering doing that discover card, if only for the amazon cashback in the 4th quarter
8/25/2014 5:00:19 PM
Looks like US Bank just approved me for the club carlson card I applied for 3 months ago.
8/28/2014 2:23:07 PM
^^ That's one thing I love about my Citi Forward card...5% back on all Amazon purchases. Just took $500 off my mortgage with those (and the Forward's 5% dining) rewards
8/28/2014 2:33:37 PM
Heh, was wondering if they still did the mortgage thing.
8/28/2014 2:46:13 PM
It's still there, they just buried it in their new points website so its harder to find/use. I just used my $500 towards my remaining student loans, thankfully its still 1point/cent to do those rebates.

Are there still methods of buying money to put into there that makes it worthwhile? It's my understanding a lot of the Bluebird gimmicks stopped working in the last few months.
8/29/2014 10:10:52 PM
I need to start keeping track of discover's promotions and using my IT card. Got it when it came out, and rarly use it.

Going to apply for the Delta Amex business. Can't remember what I'm supposed to put in the business name fields, and is the federal tax ID my social?
9/2/2014 6:49:03 PM
^ yup
9/2/2014 6:50:10 PM
What is business name? Just my name? Or do I make up an etsy shop
9/2/2014 6:52:59 PM
I would lean towards the latter. If you get declined you'll want to be able to call the reconsideration line with some type of business to talk about...
9/3/2014 9:04:35 AM
I always use the former.
9/3/2014 7:27:16 PM
Just say you are a consultant.
9/3/2014 10:58:33 PM
That's what I do...but it happens to be true

Just checked in at Park Hyatt Paris Vendôme for four free nights.

did any of those places to sell off points ever pan out? i want to unload about 290k UR chase points
9/8/2014 10:44:59 AM
I've done lots of business with Bruce, but I always check the latest posts in this SD thread before making the deal:http://slickdeals.net/f/4629010-anyone-used-rewards2cash-com?page=133Read through the last few pages though...there might be some other options out there.
9/8/2014 11:10:51 AM
^^you can unload them...in my lap
9/8/2014 7:32:46 PM
Btw - I was approved without ever having to call. Got an email this morning. Holla at yo 50k skymiles gurl

9/8/2014 10:46:16 PM
They are probably the least valued of all the airline miles. That being said, I'm saving up a ton for a trip to Sydney on Virgin AU (delta partner)
9/9/2014 8:30:37 AM
Any other good promos out there?
9/9/2014 10:32:31 AM
Really just depends on what you're trying to do.There are always good deals out there.

^^What sort of valuation are you getting?I was barely getting 1 cent a mile last time I used them domestically.^Never heard of it, and not surprised"each point is worth less than 1/4 of a cent"http://www.nerdwallet.com/card-details/card-name/PNC-points-Visa'the points have a value of around a quarter cent each'http://saverocity.com/pfdigest/pnc-credit-card/[Edited on September 9, 2014 at 2:01 PM. ^you can use "pay with miles" (where 50,000 miles is good for a $500 flight) or the assigned Skymiles flight values (which apparently WERE recently devalued, almost all increasing at least 5,000pts per flight). But I've gotten direct CVG-SFO flights for 25,000 miles, which IMO isn't too bad.if that's what you meant by your question[Edited on September 9, 2014 at 2:06 PM. Reason : k]
9/9/2014 2:06:10 PM
Yeah, guess I'm just spoiled since I do all my domestic traveling with Southwest via 1.6 cents/pt and no blackout dates + companion pass. Glad to hear I can get at least 1 cent/pt with delta though.Delta SkyMiles®Your AVAILABLE MILES* are 499,885
