Credible but I still require better defense!
11/21/2011 9:20:14 PM
I got excited and didn't think it through. I said we should use it for the squad or the coaching staff, not the student section. I wasn't thinking. But now this justinh524 is gonna get all the credit for the greatest idea ever.

+1 cred for somehow psychically getting Brown a T and fouled out b/c that is the sole reason we won tonight

credible as fuck

Raleighwood is cool btw. Sorry some of you are too young to remember that, but its like late 90s early 2000's.We got 44 fucking FTA's tonight. That is unbelievable. Helped us overcome lackluster shooting and inadequate defense. We were pushing the ball inside all fucking night. Against a legit team. And not into double teams. We were driving, dishing, drawing contact, etc.WE LOOK LIKE A REAL TEAM.Gottfried >>> Garbage >> Caner- Medley

I agree with everything posted above me including the Raleighwood assertion. In addition, it was good to see the refs give Leslie some love. I feel like last year he got hammered pretty hard without the calls. 16 free throws is good but he needs to make more than 9 of them. Scott Wood on a bad wheel = 27 mins and 16 points. I can't wait till he's 100%

Now that we know a little bit more about how the ACC is going to shake out I thought I'd post some info:It looks like UNC, Duke, FSU are the class of the ACC as everyone expected.4th - 8th is shaping up to be a race between Miami, Clemson, NC State, VT, and UVA.The other four teams really suck big time this year GT, Wake, Maryland, and BC ( lost to UMASS by 36?!).I think Miami will finish ahead of us but we could finish ahead of or behind any of the other 3 mid tier teams. We look like an ~8-8 team with a high probability of finishing within a game of .500 either direction based on our team right now and our schedule. I do think we could improve quite a bit though as we simply should not be as bad defensively as we are playing thus far.I like the way our conference schedule breaks down this year (after a really tough one last year). We play the bottom four shit schools 7 times (fairyland only once). We play the other four mid tier schools 5 times (Miami twice). And the top three schools only 4 times (Unc twice)If we could get 6 wins out of the shit schools, 1 win out of the good schools, then we'd have a shot to be dancing with 2-3 wins against the mid-tier (3 of these games are on the road). With our remaining non-conference schedule we just need to win out against the bad schools (6 total), beat a decent St.Bonaventure team (top 100 team), and win at least 1 of the three games vs Indiana, Stanford, or Syracuse.Indiana at home is obviously our best shot. Stanford isn't as good as Indiana, but that's a tough cross country road trip. We get the Cuse at home but they are taking names so far this year. That would be the best of the three to steal a win because they look like National Title contenders early on.

I like how quality posts are mocked and gifs are lauded. I think it speaks to the intelligence of this board as a whole.
11/22/2011 4:10:46 PM
I think Indiana and Stanford are very winnable. Syracuse, not so much. I think with those wins plus what we've done so far puts us in a good spot come March.
11/22/2011 4:14:48 PM
yeah as much as I generally despise face that was a pretty solid post.
11/22/2011 4:15:49 PM
I agree with face on pretty much everything...but I don't think it's unrealistic to win 2 of 3 out of IU, Stanford, and Syr. Basically, beating Stanford and IU. Syracuse will be a very tough one to win.[Edited on November 22, 2011 at 4:20 PM. Reason : ]

I'm not sure about Miami. They have a new coach (like us), but have been hit pretty hard by the injury bug and Shapiro bug. one of there player is sitting until he can be cleared by the NCAA.DeQuan Jones is being held out for the whole season."Star center Reggie Johnson injured his right knee over the summer and will be out until at least January. His backup, senior Julian Gamble, suffered a left-knee injury and is likely lost for the year. "[Edited on November 22, 2011 at 4:33 PM. Reason : n]

11/22/2011 4:24:18 PM
i love the way he has the team playing as a freaking team. so refreshing to see the team play pretty freely. for the past decade both coaches tried to be too cerebral holding the players back and down. i love how he lets them play within themselves without every offensive series being a set
11/22/2011 4:27:57 PM
11/22/2011 6:26:22 PM
i'm on board w/ gottfried, but i don't think we're going to beat any not terrible teams no problem, so one of your points cannot be true.[Edited on November 22, 2011 at 6:32 PM. Reason : i haven't seen wake play, so i don't know which one. but definitely one of them.]
11/22/2011 6:32:01 PM
Yeah, probably should have left the "no problem" comment off. Wake hasn't played anyone notable, but they've won all their games to date pretty easily. At this time last year, they already had two losses and looked incompetent. Time will tell, but I don't think they're terrible just yet ... I've seen them play twice.

11/22/2011 8:38:11 PM
I actually didnt realize Reggie Johnson was out until January. That definitely makes them more vulnerable.Wake is definitely better than they were last season but I still think #9 is pretty much their ceiling in the ACC this year. They are horrible at rebounding.
