guys lets be realistic here for god's sake. It's over for TOB at NC State. I'm not saying he'll be fired after this season, but there's no way in hell he makes it more than 3 years.Let's look at this.We suck total nuts this year, obviously. Things will be hot going into next season.Next year Glennon is a senior so we have a chance to be competitive if he improves and learns to read defenses and stop taking so many sacks. After that? We are going to be fucked the following year. Several straight poor recruiting classes have left the cupboard bare and without a good/great QB we are going to suck total shit.I don't think anyone realizes how much we'll miss TJ Graham's help in the return game and as a bonafide #1 WR.Do you really think we'll keep TOB after this shitty season, next years unspectacular results, and a final awful season when god knows who (prob a 2-3 star freshman or Soph.) will be starting at QB???It's over.

The sky is indeed falling after one conference game. Thanks for putting it into perspective.

Lol here we go again. Sidney Lowe v2 but without decent recruits.[Edited on September 26, 2011 at 8:50 PM. Reason : I don't care if we lose by 50 Saturday, I still didn't/dont want Paul Johnson]
9/26/2011 8:46:16 PM
19-17thats enough said.
9/26/2011 8:50:44 PM
He's Butch Davis without the notoriety and NCAA violations (but worse recruiting, not sure how much the BMFD ncaa violation played into losing recruits) the 4-0 record against UNC is keeping everyone from jump of the wagon, so he better keep that up or there will be a meltdown.

the comparison of O'Brien to Lowe is stupid. Insanely stupid. So stupid, its stoooopid.Lowe inherited a team that had been to 5 straight NCAA tourneys. O'Brien inherited a team that was 3-9. He didn't inherit a good team, he inherited a shitty team full of overhyped, undisciplined prima-donnas. I don't understand why you want to keep comparing him to Lowe. This comparison only reinforces the notion that O'Brien inherited a decent team trying to get over the hump. He didn't. He inherited a BAD team. And everyone knew Lowe had to go before his final season even started, and that it was going to take a magical run through the tourny to keep him. O'Brien is coming off of a good season (compared to NC State standards) and is having a shaky season during an otherwise steady program re-build. Lowe took over a proud program with a history of NCAA success, two national championships, and multiple ACC championships. O'Brien is taking over a program that is best known nationally for tailgate homicides and great facilities. This isn't an issue of fans not knowing or not wanting to accept that change is needed. Everyone knew it was time for Amato to go after that 3-9 season, and everyone knew Lowe was in over his head. If anything, the situation is more analogous to Herb Sendek -- not that I think these comparisons offer us any insight--they don't. It is more about an impatient fanbase that desperately wants to see immediate success rather than patiently wait to build a solid program the right way.Fire him after 5 years? Ha, good luck getting any coach to come to NC fucking State after that.

the only reason why i brought up the national championships and acc championships was to illustrate why our fanbase feels entitled to basketball success. the same can't be said for football, where we have little to no history, aside from a few seasons with a couple of key skill players.[Edited on September 26, 2011 at 10:59 PM. I would be fucking pissed if we got fat ass Friedgen and his horrible accent.I am upset at how this season has gone and I know GT is going to embarass us on Saturday, but hopefully we can win against CMU and then get back some guys on defense and see where it takes us. Maybe we can finish strong like TOB did his 1st couple years and sneak into a bowl game (highly unlikely with the back loaded schedule).I still have relatively no hope for the future of this program. Maybe TOB can pick up the in state recruiting once UNC get hammered by the NCAA, but until we consistently recruit in the 30s in ranking, then we'll forever be mediocre.
9/27/2011 4:09:24 PM
I'd rather have TOB lose over and over than have Fridgen.

this thread? if we got blown out with all our starters sure. i could see that.last week we predicted a close loss to UC and got blown out. this time we are EXPECTING the blowout. we gotta wait a few games for this thread to explode. we just simply don't have our team to boil it down 100% to bad coaching.
9/28/2011 6:06:20 PM
RW could not have saved us but a defensive end would have totally won the game for us.

^Yeah, that's the impression that I've always got - try to make the players work for a specific system instead of trying to adapt the system to fit your current set of players.
9/29/2011 7:49:01 AM
TOb's just a bad coach. Lack of creativity is about the worst trait you can have in a leader of anything.
9/29/2011 7:55:39 AM
Speaking of lack of creativity, here's what Paul Johnson had to say about us in his PC.http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/2/1111667.html
9/29/2011 9:37:02 AM
Are you insinuating that PJ thinks TOB lacks creativity because he runs a system?
9/29/2011 11:20:28 AM
^ Yeah because we do a whole lot of different things on offense Seriously when is the last time State tried a trick play or even something like an end around? Our offense is boring outside of the long bombs we try.
9/29/2011 6:17:10 PM
A hand-off to a FB is our trick play - we're sitting on it for a time when we really need it.
9/29/2011 8:04:13 PM
There is being gimmicky and there is keeping the defense on their toes.We don't have the personnel to tell a team what we are going to do in advance and dare them to stop us...well, I mean, we do, it's just that they stop us.
9/30/2011 9:53:24 AM
i'm going to say something, and i really can't believe i'm saying it but here it goes:when we hired TOB, it was immediately obvious how similar of a situation it was to herb, except i was pretty confident that we were right about herb and that BC was wrong about TOB. as it turns out, we were both right.

^ ha i was just gonna say. that happened no more than 50 feet in front of my face. vtech comeback and win ensued. and that 60 yard run by moose almost brought the stadium down from the noise. that was indeed the climax of last years season. the home crowd never really got that loud again that season except at the end of the FSU game for a few minutes.[Edited on September 30, 2011 at 11:17 AM. 9/30/2011 11:18:37 AM
ok guys, i'm going to do a sort of quantitative easing regarding TOB's credibility. i'm going Bernanke on yalls asses -- going to attempt to back some of you off the ledge by dosing you with actual TOB wisdom:(1) Coach has often said that when you win you're not as good as you think, and when you lose you're not as bad as you think. (2) Coach keeps a banner/sign in the locker room that says, "Most games are won or lost before they are played". This is paraphrasing Sun Tzu: "Battles are won or lost before they are fought." Preparation is thee key ingredient to execution. The fact that TOB understands these things lets me believe that all the things wrong with the team are measurable and fixable. This season can be salvaged, but it wont be easy. The main truth that has become self evident is that Archer needs to go. Either Coach will be reunited with his DC from Boston at the end of the season or Tenuta will step up to DC sometime in the middle. [I also hope Dantonio Burnette is back on the staff either with strength and conditioning or linbackers.]In any case, while Cinci and WF's offense exposed our D, i still think its too early to panic. If we get torn apart by GT i'll change my tone, but right now im doubling down on my faith in TOB.
9/30/2011 11:38:40 AM
^^^ I guess my point is the PJ is the definition of a "system coach", and I think he can be pretty creative.
9/30/2011 11:42:41 AM
^^as much as i want to believe it, if the team is plagued by same issues for 4 out of 5 years that TOB has been around, measurable/fixable stuff is not really happening.and did we really have 0 rushing yards in the cinci game? i couldnt watch the second half
