http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/basketball/mens/columns/story?columnist=gibbons_bob&id=35554266. N.C. State, three verbal commitmentsCoach Sidney Lowe has again landed recruits from the talent-rich state of Georgia; among them are two ESPNU 100 players. Lorenzo Brown (Roswell, Ga./ Centennial), No. 48, can play both backcourt positions, and 6-8 PF Richard Howell (Marietta, Ga./ Wheeler), rated No. 58, will join him in North Carolina. Howell played on the same travel team as N.C. State's freshman standout of last year, J. J. Hickson, who was drafted by the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers. Howell has the potential to make an impact comparable to that of Hickson for the Wolfpack next year. Coach Lowe also has a commitment from one of the nation's best perimeter shooters, potential ESPNU 100 prospect 6-5 2G Scott Wood (Marion, Ind.). Although the Wolfpack now have players for all three of their available scholarships, they are still involved in talks with No. 81, 6-5 G/F Garrius Adams (Apex, N.C./ Middle Creek).Apparently ESPN doesn't realize that Marques Johnson transferred and we now have another scholarship available.

Our recruiting class is ranked #5 and #6 for 2009 and we still have a scholarship available
8/27/2008 8:32:28 PM
I didn't realize our class was ranked so highJust think if we add one or two more good players
8/27/2008 9:04:25 PM
I'll make a bold prediction. If we land Noel Johnson, we will get Derrick Favors. What a complete class that would be. We'd have a guard with ball handling abilities, a lights out shooter, a versatile small forward that has a surprisingly good handle and can really stroke it, a power forward who can both bang down low and has a face up game, and a dominating center. It would be hard for us not to leap frog the Heels as the best class in the nation. Even if we didn't and ended up second, I think it would be safe to say that in reality they would be 1a and we'd be 1b.Let's go Lowe complete the 5 Pack recruiting class!
8/27/2008 9:14:00 PM
That would be some serious shit.
8/27/2008 11:25:27 PM
The thought of that is beyond awesome. But I don't want to get any chubbies over this just yet.YOU KNOW HOW WE DO!
8/28/2008 5:43:38 AM
^ Yeah. Getting a chubbie over anything related to NC State sports is sure to leave you with blue balls.
8/28/2008 9:16:05 AM
Look like Garrius Adams was at the game thursday visiting South Carolina. Thank God he's not trying to get a football scholarship.

Marques Johnson transferred to Georgia State or somewhere like that last month
9/10/2008 3:16:04 PM
Marques Johnson transferred. The information came out on August 13. On paper we now have one more scholarship spot for the 2009 class. ESPN let out early 2009 recruiting class rankings and we had the 6th ranked class, but they said we were out of scholarships.

9/11/2008 1:03:47 AM
obvious "one and done's" aren't always done after one.I'll always take the best player possible (that fits the system), even if they might leave after one.
9/11/2008 1:05:45 AM
i will take both derrick favors and john wall, both as guaranteed one and dones, in a heartbeat.you're crazy to say otherwise.
9/11/2008 1:11:51 AM
lots of us go out of our way to keep people up to date on recruiting.we would appreciate if you leave the chit chat stuff in chit chat. i know its a crazy idea but this is serious business.
9/11/2008 8:55:42 AM
so any real word on how the the visit/workout with favors went yesterday?
9/11/2008 3:33:53 PM
Sounds like it went well. Think he is going to make one of his officials with us. That seems to be about it.
9/11/2008 3:55:08 PM
That would be huge to get him on campus. Let's hope some of the other Georgia commits are there too.
9/12/2008 10:47:14 AM
Garrius Adams to the U. Oh well.
9/15/2008 7:15:58 PM

At least Finneas has his priorities straightSo... is it down to Favors, Wall, and Johnson?
9/15/2008 8:04:49 PM
Didn't we stop recruiting Johnson to go after Adams? That may have been a mistake if true.

It says we offered a big-guy on the rivals site. Anyone know who is it? Doest that mean we're no longer in the Favors sweepstakes?
9/22/2008 10:43:27 PM
I think it maybe Deniz Kilicli. When you click on the story on the Wolfpacker homepage it takes you to a story about him from the Kentucky website. He's a 3* PF on Rivals, but Scout hasn't evaluated him yet. He's a 17 year old from Turkey and hasn't been in the states long. He's 6-9 245. Other schools that are interested in him include UConn, Kentucky, Marquette, USC, Texas, and West Virginia.http://ncstate.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=88077&sport=2http://northcarolinastate.scout.com/a.z?s=178&p=8&c=1&nid=3961049[Edited on September 22, 2008 at 11:00 PM. "The other finalists for Favors are Kentucky, Memphis, Connecticut and Florida State. Tech has a lot of appeal to Favors, according to his coach." i thought that he cut his favorites down to 6
9/23/2008 12:43:28 AM
a little bird told me that Favors' Coach Reddick was misquoted and told multiple sources that NCST were still on his list of finalist. everyone needs to keep calm (dont forget that we were never on Hickson's short or long list until about 2 weeks before he committed to state)word on the street is that Deniz Kilicli is good enough to be a 2 year and done player. he is THAT good.we need to get Atsur on the phone with this kid, STAT![Edited on September 23, 2008 at 9:22 AM.
