THIS IS NOT A SPOILER (In Arnold’s “It’s not a tumah” voice)

In the game, I don’t even think we see anybody else from the group, other than the army of David’s men that we have to kill. There were certainly no women and children that I recall.

But damn, what a great episode. The guy playing David was excellent. Not liking how there is only one episode left. Oh and I think it’s awesome that in a show about zombies, we haven’t seen any for what, 3 episodes now? Well, there was one in the mall, but that was a flashback. And I’m not being facetious when I say that. It says something about the story when they don’t even have to throw zombies back into the mix.

And it’s a little late to be complaining about episode three. If anything, it was an episode to show that in this horrible shitty world there is still humanity out there. Could they have done the same thing with a hetero couple? Sure. Was Bill straight in the game? Nope. Why change that in the show. You are a grown up, you can look away for the bedroom scene…get up, get a snack, whatever.

I’m probably considered the friendly neighborhood TWW bigot (because I don’t think men should participate in women’s sports…context) and I’ve seen that episode at least three times. It’s a beautiful piece of TV.

Quicksilver’s argument reminds me of “Now look here, I don’t have anything against black people. As a matter of fact, I’ve got this black friend…”

It always comes back to "When it comes to survival, humans are the real monsters".

there are some eyerolls in that piece, but this one takes the cake:

"Where is Riley getting her box braids done — and where was she getting the hair?

Riley, Ellie's childhood best friend, comes crashing into her life again in episode seven after joining the Fireflies. She also, as multiple viewers pointed out on TikTok, has blonde microbraids, a protective hairstyle that can be time-consuming to get done and sometimes includes hair extensions.

That raises some questions, namely where Riley got the added hair, who did it for her, and how many ration cards she spent to get it done in the Boston QZ."

“people online are saying” is one of the laziest journalistic troupes of the last decade

That's a plot hole? My lord.

Plus they're literally setup in a mall, not sure how long extensions 'last' but surely there are hair shops/salons in a mall

the leader of the Boston Fireflies was a Black woman for fucks sake

Quote :
" One of the most puzzling elements of "The Last of Us" was how little time it devoted to its most important relationship. It wasn't until episode four, when the pair drove from Bill's town to Kansas City, that we got a significant amount of solo time — in fact, it felt like we knew much more about Bill and Frank's relationship rather than the protagonists Joel and Ellie's.

As a result, crucial developments in Joel and Ellie's relationship, like Joel calling her "baby girl" when he finds her again in episode 8, felt a bit hollow."

I’m just gonna assume that a chatbot wrote that, because I have no idea how a human could think that scene, “felt a bit hollow”

Episode's 1 and 2 had to set up the majority of characters and propel the plot forward. Episode 3 was a character study of a couple, while simultaneously giving viewers a sense of good in a very shitty world. It's not like Joel and Ellie were able to play house for an entire episode like Bill and Frank. But the show more than makes up for their character development later.

As a matter of fact, most of the articles I've ready praise how this show is more character driven than plot driven, not relying on twists and surprises.

My only gripe about the show is the profanity - I just wish they would've toned it down some. I found it a little unnecessary. And yes I've played the game so many times at this point I can almost repeat the dialogue, and the game is profanity-laden as well.

But overall I appreciate the show not relying on zombies at every turn, and taking breaks to explain what happened in the past. Zombie/apocalypse shows have overdone the "mysterious origin"

Can't read that article right now (work filter), but the stuff you guys pasted in here makes me lol in terms of the straws they are grasping at.

Really, Riley's hair being braided is that big of a plot hole? She's a teenage girl. In a world where things like phones, movies, and video games are extremely uncommon. They don't think that kids growing up in that environment would learn how to entertain themselves through things like doing each other's hair? Especially if it means styling it in way that would be harder for a zombie to grab ahold of?

And prior to Bill/Frank's episode, Joel didn't like Ellie so no shit they didn't have much of a relationship. He was probably silently resentful that Tess died as a result of his mission with Ellie. But hey, then Ellie saved his life. And he saved her life. Multiple times. In episode 8 he was literally on the brink of death until she got him antibiotics. Pretty sure that kind of thing builds a pretty strong relationship.

The box braids thing is just silly. Joel and Ellie traveled on foot for months yet he seems to have the same length hair and beard in Salt Lake City that he had in Boston. It's a TV show, who cares if a character's hair takes a lot of effort IRL?
