Chapter 5 is my least favorite so far.
12/6/2019 1:35:42 PM
I really enjoyed the nostalgia of Tatooine, but I feel like this is the first episode that neither moved the narrative further, nor gave us any more character development.
12/6/2019 9:38:00 PM
I think the only thing that could possibly move the narrative forward is the very end right before the credits. Also felt like using Tatooine was just a blatant nostalgia grab. I can't wait until the fucking ewok episode that I know is coming. ]
12/6/2019 9:47:35 PM
Although I really like this show, it's way too episodic for me. I've never like the shows that present a conflict at the beginning and wrap it up by the end of the episode. Give me the long story arcs all day
12/6/2019 11:44:35 PM
^ u heard of this show called Ozark?
12/7/2019 2:04:30 AM
Love this series. I all but gave up on Star Wars as the storylines have sucked (IMHO). I love watching it with my 8 yr old son who lives, breathes, eats, sleeps anything SW. He asked if those drawings at the end of each episode were the original comic book drawings, or just made for each episode. On another note- he had to explain to me that the yoda baby was 50 years old. Totally missed that one.
12/7/2019 1:05:31 PM
I feel like they're going for a firefly theme based in Star Wars. Space Western. But thus far everything has been bland and predictable. It's OK, just bland and predictable. the 7 samurai episode was just boring as hell and made no sense.
12/9/2019 8:42:35 AM
Maybe we'll get the long story arc with the Obi-Wan series.
12/9/2019 9:03:45 AM
Yeah. Episodes 1-3 pulled me in. The last two episodes have just felt like filler trash. Not good at all.
12/9/2019 1:23:40 PM
hellboy?
12/13/2019 12:28:01 PM
I enjoyed chapter 6 very much
12/13/2019 1:14:57 PM
Yeah that Hellboy guy, Bill Burr, and the Fifth Element people kinda ruined the immersion for me kinda like the Ed Sheeran GoT episode.
12/13/2019 10:37:10 PM
the "cameos" weren't as distracting as I thought they might be
12/13/2019 10:37:29 PM
Lol at complaining about cameos[Edited on December 13, 2019 at 11:16 PM. Reason : You're the absolute worst kind of fan]
12/13/2019 11:15:40 PM
How am I complaining?
12/14/2019 12:01:24 AM
Not you, silly goose.
12/14/2019 12:36:54 AM
i enjoyed space burr and devil kurgan
12/14/2019 10:47:23 AM
Episode 6 was great. A great blend of Star Wars universe, character development, and action. It was interesting to see an intelligent dickish droid. It's also growing on me how Mando seems to keep his cool and not overreacting when the situations get more and more fucked for him. I like how they didn't show him *expecting* to get double-crossed but they did show him unfuck the situation and flip the tables by thinking on his feet.
12/14/2019 10:58:28 AM
Those 5th element aliens have been part of Star Wars for a very long time. Not the specific characters, but their species.
12/14/2019 11:28:20 AM
Star wars ripped off the 5th element when they put them in return of the Jedi.[Edited on December 14, 2019 at 11:41 AM. Reason : I'm still mad they killed off Space Brian Posehn]
12/14/2019 11:40:19 AM
^Yea seeing him in the show totally took me out of it. I barely continued to watch after that.
12/14/2019 7:08:34 PM
oops, didn't realize someone posted 20 seconds after i did
12/14/2019 7:20:56 PM
12/14/2019 7:52:13 PM
You people are impossible to please. Last episode was great. They used alien races that are already established in the Star Wars universe. Who cares if they got already known people to play them. The voice of the robot was Richard Ayoade from the IT Crowd and I thought that was really good casting.
12/14/2019 9:44:38 PM
i didn't recognize any of the cameos really. I thought it was good.
12/15/2019 7:49:40 AM
I should have put rolleyes on my comment above or /s at the end. I couldn't give two shits about cameos and honestly I thought the casting was great. Hell I was the first one to notice who was voicing Zero and my whole family has watched The IT Crowd like 2-3 times. Once we figured it out we just geeked out a bit more.
12/15/2019 5:51:36 PM
I have liked this show so far, but I gotta admit, Episode 6 didn't really do it for me. I don't mind the presence of Devoronians or Twi'Leks - they're canon, so by all means, throw them in. But could they maybe have the slightest amount of subtlety to them? No. The whole squad starts out as being a bunch of dick bullies to Mando and they stay that way until the end.It kept throwing me out of the immersion. Mandalorians are supposed to be known across the galaxy as bad-assed warriors, so why go out of your way to piss them off from the get-go? For that matter, why do that to anybody whose skills you're about to rely on for a job? OK, I get it, narrative requires conflict. You can have someone talking shit - the lady twi'lek has some background with him, that makes sense. And the others might reasonably be suspicious and distant to the new guy, but instead, they're just relentlessly adversarial for no apparent reason. They're two dimensional. Even after they see him demonstrate his bad-assery, they keep it up. It just didn't make sense to me.Also not really clear on why Zero would go straight to "let's hunt and kill baby Yoda." At most he knows that the kid might be a bounty; wouldn't you at least try to find out whether it was worth more alive? And think of this: 50% of episodes of this show have ended with "someone points gun at Baby Yoda and gets shot right before they pull the trigger." It's a trope that's wearing thin. Find a new way to gin up suspense, guys.OK, there, I've vented. Overall, I remain enamored of the show. I saw some clickbait headline the other day calling it "A $100 million show about nothing," and, based on these last few story-of-the-week numbers, maybe they're right. I don't care. Like tens of millions of other Star Wars fans, I mostly just want to wallow in the universe. It doesn't need to strive for a larger point or even an overarching narrative. They could make a Discovery Channel-style reality TV show about rival moisture farmers on Tatooine and I'd probably watch and enjoy that, too.[Edited on December 15, 2019 at 10:07 PM. Reason : wrong kind of canon]
12/15/2019 10:07:08 PM
^The way I saw it was that the crew was a bunch of unprofessional mercenaries who thought they were hot shit, but really weren't. They are used to aggressive shows of power, constantly trying to be the "alpha". Then the Mandalorian shows up, someone with a notorious track record of being a badass, and they want to be able to say "Remember that time I made him flinch? Yeah he ain't shit."I'd equate it to a bunch of ex-military grunts working for a private military force. And yeah, let's say they have some combat experience and some successful missions under their belt. But then an ex-Delta Force operative shows up for support on a mission and they think they can outdo him.
12/16/2019 9:20:15 AM
While it would be an obvious "jumping the shark" situation for Star Wars and Disney, I would definitely watch a docudrama about rival moisture farmers. How do they contend with the Jawas? Do the Jawas not raid their equipment constantly? What about Tuscan raiders?Do they pay the Huts for protective services? These are all things I've got to know.
12/16/2019 9:33:31 AM
^^They weren't even really trying to outdo him, though. "lol your people got genocided" doesn't establish dominance, it establishes pointless douchebaggery. I see what you're saying, but if that's what they were going for, they did a shitty job. The trope of cocky wannabes trying to show up superior veterans is an old one with many better examples.
12/16/2019 1:49:39 PM
Y'all should watch bad TV shows, then maybe you wouldn't complain so much about pretty good ones. May I recommend Eureka? That was some garbage ass TV. I don't know how they made 5 seasons.
12/16/2019 7:21:55 PM
^My wife and I loved Eureka. You take that back you sonuvabitch!
12/17/2019 7:03:14 AM
Really enjoyed chapter 6. I thought Bill Burr was great. As far as them being dicks to Mando, it's obvious that he did something to them in the past and whatever it was, Ran, Xi'an, and Qin felt betrayed. Mayfeld is supposed to be in charge and Mando starts off with insults so he feels like he's got something to prove.I thought the same thing about the droid immediately moving to kill mode on baby Yoda. It didn't make sense. I thought maybe baby yoda was using the force to block the communications but I didn't really see anything else to support that. What was blocking the communications? Mando using the security functions in the control room?
12/17/2019 8:47:52 AM
Sidenote, they are releasing the next episode tomorrow instead of Friday. I expect this is because Star Wars Ep 9 comes out on Thursday, so there may be a tie in of some kind. May be a good idea to watch the next episode before watching Ep 9.
12/17/2019 8:58:24 AM
+1 Thanks for the tip! Didn't know they were gonna do that.
12/17/2019 10:53:12 AM
12/17/2019 11:05:30 AM
it turns out palpatine was the mandalorian all along
12/17/2019 11:12:07 AM
It turns out midichlorians are the result of centuries of inbreeding. So basically Jedis only exist because dudes kept having sex with their moms and daughters.
12/17/2019 12:01:40 PM
Maybe the person at the end of the Tattooine episode (hinted at possibly Boba Fett) shows up in Ep 9.
12/17/2019 2:28:47 PM
Good, I hope the mandalorian kills him for wearing mandalorian armor despite not being mandalorian.
12/17/2019 2:35:35 PM
Pretty sure the release schedule is simply because they don't want to release the episode within a day of the new movie, not that the two have any kind of shared plot tie-in.
12/17/2019 3:25:36 PM
Just a "sneak peek" after the episode, with some interesting tidbits. Also this continued use of Chubbs Peterson is really ruining the immersion for me. I mean he still has his hand and there hasn't even been a hint of a gator.
12/18/2019 11:15:49 AM
We finally hit the video game level where all the allies you've collected along your way actually have something to do, and the one who had the least reason to be there will get killed.
12/21/2019 2:19:39 PM
Yeah, they brought back the chick from Deadpool. IMMERSION RUINED AGAIN.
12/21/2019 2:20:38 PM
Grand Moff Buggin' Out
12/21/2019 10:41:37 PM
I thought Carl weathers was billy dee this whole time
12/26/2019 4:16:13 PM
Dang, IG unit went all "I have to pull a grandma from Dante's Peak. This is the way."Although Jason Sudekis as one of the speeder bike troopers TOTALLY RUINED THE IMMERSION]
12/27/2019 1:50:07 PM
I’ve been calling the Grand Moff, “Duke Ellington Vader” or “Duke Vader” for short. Also I see he got that Mandalorian sword.
