Terrible game management in the last minute

It’s the NITSee y’all in november
3/27/2019 11:13:52 PM
This is why I say Keatts is overrated.

Usual Ncstateshit kind of end

We got killed on OOB plays all game. We’d also go long spells just refusing to pass it to Dorn, who was scoring with ease. Would love to see some improved decision making (mostly shot selection) and improved half court defense - the full court defense becomes a liability when they just throw over it easily, and we gotta improve on FTs
3/27/2019 11:15:18 PM
It’s clear we got about the third tier of officials for this gameTime for next season
3/27/2019 11:16:45 PM
Yeah. I’m not blaming the refs at all, but boy were they an adventure all game.
3/27/2019 11:18:29 PM
Refs tried to give us the game with that phantom whistle but we couldn't pull it off
3/27/2019 11:20:00 PM
I hate half the people in this thread, but Keatts offense of "set a pick and let the player make the play" is def feast or famine. Seems like we don't get many easy baskets in our offense through action alone.
3/27/2019 11:20:14 PM
it's really going to come down to recruiting with himhe's not a bad coach. but he aint winning anything in game. its on his system and his guys. right now we don't have enough guys
3/27/2019 11:23:00 PM
Exciting game to end the season. If we would have given up a few less backdoor cuts or scores off inbounds plays at the end we could have been heading to New York.

Lipscomb's only losses this year were Belmont x2 (NCAA team), Liberty x2 (NCAA team), Louisville by 4 @ Louisville, Clemson, and Florida Gulf Coast. For perspective.

New Reynolds record for opposing player and a devastating loss. Move all games there ! [Edited on March 27, 2019 at 11:31 PM. Reason : Maybe this will stop the nonsense]
3/27/2019 11:30:40 PM
^It was also the most entertaining game all year in the whole country[Edited on March 27, 2019 at 11:37 PM. Reason : clarity]

Good to see Black Hole Harris show back up tonight Either Dorn or Bryce should have had isos every single time we had the ball. Lipscomb really had no answer for either of them.Oh and fuck that dark haired ref. I don't know his name, but I'm gonna find out. TV Teddy gets all the shit, but he is actually a pretty solid ref. That other guy, not so much.]

Yeah and it let them hang around. His defense isn't worth the turnovers or the lack of ball movement when he runs the offense. He's a ball dominant PG who can't shoot and makes terrible passes.
3/27/2019 11:42:41 PM
That’s all true. But the bigger issue is that this stems from is the KK is completely unwilling to play a player with 2 fouls in the first half. I know protecting players from foul trouble matters, but Markell rarely gets in much foul trouble aside from 2-3/game. He doesn’t need to be benched for 15 first half mins.
3/28/2019 12:01:27 AM
Keatts might be stubborn about playing players with early fouls, but Markell didn't have to get those fouls. iirc, none of them were really questionable calls. Who knows, maybe he figured he'd just play hero ball in the 2nd half and he'd commit a couple early ones to save his legs.
3/28/2019 12:03:51 AM
One of those fouls was on a 3 point shooter. So yeah it was dumb. But taking your best player out for 15 mins is not a strategy I agree with.
3/28/2019 12:09:12 AM
What was the biggest deficit during that time though, maybe being down 3-5 points at most? Sure we could have potentially gotten to a bigger lead if he had played him, but it looks like they were going to keep it close with or without him. So in this particular game, I don't see the big deal of benching him. If we got down by double digits and he didn't think about putting him back in, that would be different.

I think Harris has actually gotten better at running offense over the course of the year. He gets penetration and pushes the offense. But if he can't stop turning the ball over he just cant play. Keatts' last Wilmington team was #1 in the nation at offensive TO% and we took a huge leap last season even with Markell being a bit loose with the ball, but took a step back this year and that was a big part of our offense not being as good (the other part being spacing/3 pointers).[Edited on March 28, 2019 at 12:27 AM. Reason : d]
3/28/2019 12:26:34 AM
Harris's second biggest problem besides the awful turnovers is that when he's the PG, he doesn't give up the ball. Our offense becomes him dribbling for 20 seconds.
3/28/2019 12:52:00 AM
His second biggest problem is a result of his first biggest problem.
3/28/2019 12:54:20 AM
I’ve never understood the philosophy of deciding who to play based on how close the game is, unless you’re in an end of game situation. You play the guys that will get you the most points. If you go on a 100-0 run and then give up a 99-0 run you still win
3/28/2019 1:23:41 AM
One of if not the worst officiated games I've ever seen NC State play in.Between that and NO ONE being able to stop #24, it was infuriating. Thats what a stooge is for, go in, foul the guy hard a few times, don't let him score. That blew my mind as to why we could not stop ONE guy.
