Lack of run game is killing us here.

Downfield passes have been there ALL game, but it took a busted coverage to actually throw it deep. SMH

Meyers has been limping off the field all day long. Why was he still out there.
9/1/2018 3:01:33 PM
I’m hoping Meyers issues have been cramps and not a tweaked ankle or something that could worsen. He’s saved us but yeah...if he’s hurt, he hasn’t gotten the necessary attention.
9/1/2018 3:05:03 PM
He turned his ankle early in the game on a dumbass pass that lost yardage and came back after they taped him up.
9/1/2018 3:06:00 PM
Was Gallaspy too fatigued earlier on that drive? We need him to be a workhorse type back. Pennix and Person can’t carry the load yet.^thats right. Forgot about that silly screen. And that wasn’t the last time we ran that play either. [Edited on September 1, 2018 at 3:06 PM. Reason : A]
9/1/2018 3:06:02 PM
This line can't run block for shit and gallaspy can't make anyone miss.
9/1/2018 3:08:41 PM
Speaking of mid-season form, justinh524 seems to be rounding the corner into his already.Don't jump off a bridge or anything, internet guy.

FINLEY FOR HEISMAN
9/1/2018 3:19:40 PM
Gallaspy wasn’t the biggest problem imo...Lack of a reliable RB behind him was the bigger issue. Gallaspy is a bruiser, he’s not gonna be a Hines-type back. But without somebody to give us a change of pace and give him some rest, he’s gonna be a rather unexciting 4 ypc back and that’s kinda boring. Person and Pennix had 8 carries for 6 yards. They’re true freshmen so I’m not saying they won’t improve. Just sucks to lack experienced depth there.

Finley and the depleted WR looked good. Still have Louis and Angeline to get back which will help alot.Harmon was covered well, if it wasn't for #11 we'd be in dire straights. he had himself a game.Running game is not good...The new guys seem to wait too long and drift outside, likely a habit they had in high school of taking it outside, instead of plowing ahead for the 3 yard gain.Reggie is a short yardage back, O line and RBs have to figure it out.JMU is a really good team. They might not lose another game this year. Balanced offense and decent defense.Need Bryant and #11 back badly, even if they sit out next week it'll be worth it.
9/1/2018 4:16:13 PM
Yeah need to get healthy next week. Sounds like Bryant is fine. His neck locked up but according to DD he was fine and back on the sideline before the game ended. But no need to rush anybody back. Next opponent is gonna be weakest of the season. Ga State squeaked by Kennesaw St in their first game.
9/1/2018 4:44:40 PM
gonna be a long season
9/1/2018 11:23:43 PM
Depleted wr?? We had one guy out from what is easily our deepest group.

WR group wasn't depleted, but our TE group actually is. Have a walk-on sitting on the 2-deep because we have 2 guys out with injury and Angeline won't be eligible until week 4. Honestly think getting Autenrieth back should help our run blocking. Can't really argue with our pass blocking, Finley had plenty of time and the one "sack" we gave up was Finley stepping up in the pocket and missing the easy 7-8 yard gain to the right and he went left right into their player.Love how people are forgetting we played 3 FR RB, a FR DT, a FR nickel, JUCO transfer at CB, a true FR K, and were without 2 of our better offensive players. What did Aaron Rodgers say? "RELAX". We were never going to be a 10-win team, but looking at our schedule and the rest of the ACC, not sure why people would be freaking out. Wake, FSU, and UL looked way worse than I expected.
9/4/2018 9:28:23 AM
I think people realize we played alot of freshmen Saturday, but we're going to be playing freshmen all season. That might be a positive for next year but not this year.I'm sure some of them will get better but big leaps usually don't come DURING the true frosh season. Some will have big leaps, some won't improve and most will get a little better over the year.
9/4/2018 9:45:41 AM
Have we discussed the wind yet?
9/4/2018 10:00:39 AM
I think Person is going to be fine, he just missed a ton of camp with injuries. I expect he and Pennix will get plenty of touches next week against Ga State. We're not talking about just FR, wer'e talking about new starters all over the field. We're going to have growing pains early(to be expected), but I think we should be improvement week to week as long as we can keep guys healthy. Some of the young guys even flashed on Saturday, no reason to think they want continue to play better. McNeil made a nice play on the batted pass, Kante had a really strong game with 2 sacks, Thayer Thomas had a great game, Ingle got beat on the TD(complete mismatch they exploited) but also had some really nice hits and we didn't get obliterated in the slot every play like last year. Dunn missed a somewhat tough FG in his first game, but it wasn't a terrible miss(like some of Bambard's last year), so I'm not overly concerned about that. This is supposed to be a "rebuilding" year to everyone on the outside looking in(losing so many guys to the NFL), so with our offense and if our D can just be average(I'd argue they were at least average on Sat), we should be competitive almost every game(save for WVU and Clemson). UL, UNC, and FSU all looked terrible opening weekend. Wake, Marshall, Syracuse, Ga State, and UVA did nothing to impress. BC looks as good as expected. Feeling good after Week 1, esp since none of our injuries seem to be of concern and we should only be adding guys back in the next few weeks.
9/4/2018 10:30:02 AM
Yep. All I'm concerned with at this point is Clemson and WVU
9/4/2018 11:11:56 AM
That was the hottest fucking game I think I've ever experienced. Cannot think of another game (that I've attended) that was so brutally hot.
9/4/2018 11:30:05 AM
^Clemson game several years ago, maybe? That was the one where they ran out of water and ice and the cups smelled like mildew. They were hauling people out of the stands like injured players and even on stretchers that game. I thought that was even worse than this one.
9/4/2018 11:40:36 AM
i wasn't at the game, but DD's first game vs La Tech was the worst i can remember.
9/4/2018 12:56:38 PM
^this. took my 2 yr old and was astonished we even got to stay til halftime.
9/4/2018 1:06:00 PM
Left at halftime. Hottest I've ever been. The concourse looked like a triage unit with people laid out and EMS attending to them. Awful
9/4/2018 1:26:11 PM
Yes, the Clemson game was the worst. Made even worse by how they beat the shit out of us. Also once everyone left, the glare off the bleachers made it even worse. At least there were some clouds on Saturday.
9/4/2018 1:27:39 PM
Was that the Clemson game when Woody Dantzler looked like a Heisman winner? Or more recent than that?
9/4/2018 1:29:36 PM
No, way more recent than that.[Edited on September 4, 2018 at 1:44 PM. Reason : You old as fuck. Woodrow Dantzler has grandchildren in college now.][Edited on September 4, 2018 at 1:44 PM. Reason : I'm gonna say TOB era.][Edited on September 4, 2018 at 1:49 PM. Reason : Yes, it was 2007 I believe. CJ Spiller and James Davis made us their bitch.]
9/4/2018 1:43:53 PM
I’m probably one of the youngest posters on this board. I mentioned that game because 1) clemson killed us and 2) it was a long time ago but I thought I remembered being v v hot. [Edited on September 4, 2018 at 2:09 PM. Reason : A$Actually Clemson only beat us by 8 in that game. It just felt like an ass whooping since we had no answer for Dantzler. Looks like you’re talking about the 07 Clemson game. 6 years after the Woody Dantzler game. [Edited on September 4, 2018 at 2:13 PM. Reason : A]

JMU coach just hired at ECU so we face him in our opener for the 2nd straight year next year
12/2/2018 8:47:19 PM
he almost ended up at UNCC
12/2/2018 9:35:25 PM
i'd bet ECU is gonna have some pre-game trash talk/something to say about us having such a field day against them this past weekend. like, i have no problem with us trying to preserve the shutout and letting all our backs ups score and setting all those records...but i can see ECU fans and players wanting "revenge" for the embarrassment. idk, maybe not...but that seems like it'll be a pregame narrative.
12/3/2018 6:29:40 AM
They'll have to be mad at the coaches bc all the players will be goneWe'll basically have a completely different offense next year, potentially replacing 7/11 of the the starting O.Also presumably they'll have Ahlers, so just a very different game all around
12/3/2018 9:11:57 AM
Oh yeah, I just meant that I can see it being a narrative that we hear about going into the game next year. Especially since it’s the season opener. So it’s their next game.
12/3/2018 10:20:23 AM
I mean, they're still going to suck next year.
12/3/2018 12:22:32 PM
yeah probablytheir qb is good
12/3/2018 1:27:30 PM
Itll depend on how our new o-line, qb and receivers mesh. If its a struggle...i could see it being a close game.If we can run the ball as well as we did Saturday, it may not matter. But new QB, 3/5 of o-line(though sculthorpe has lots of experience), mostly new wideouts and ricky and the freshmen at RB. Offense is gonna look drastically different. Defense gonna look mostly the same w/ no roseboro and pratt. [Edited on December 4, 2018 at 1:02 AM. Reason : Shsh]
12/4/2018 1:00:36 AM
Even if Meyers leaves (which he should), our starting WRs should be Emezie, Riley and Thomas. I expect WR to remain a strength next season. They're all pretty experienced and pretty good. Whoever the QB is, they'll have been practicing with him for a good while by that point. The OL is definitely the most concerning thing to me for next year. But just based sheer talent, we should handle ECU next year easily. Not to mention that they'll be learning new schemes (likely both offensive and defensive.)
