He also averages 20 attempts per game. You throw up a bunch of shots, you're bound to lead in scoring if you shoot near 50% (he shoots 43% on the year)

Last 4 weeks he hasnt been near the top. Basically against bad teams he got all his stats in. Competition got tough and he has gone way down on stats and efficiency.

Young has a very high usage rate and teams have figured out how to slow him down, and thus stop the entire team.

They've lost 9 out of 11 and went from top 5 to out of the rankings. Their RPI is helping them stay in tournament discussions, but if they don't figure something out in a hurry they won't be dancing.

Saw a report that suggested Young was flourishing in transition earlier in the year against lesser opponents but once teams slowed that down and forced him into half-court sets, he's struggled. His whole "I'm being guarded harder than anyone in the country" excuse was pretty amusing though.

every team should have a laetner type play to do right there. all you have to do is not let the pass go out of bounds and you are almost guaranteed victory. no ones gonna intercept a ball and make a 3/4 court shot in .9

I know that the Big Ten moving up the conference tournament a week messed with their schedules and a lot of the coaches in that league weren’t too happy with it due to lack of rest between games. But I kind of wonder if this week off will help those few teams that do make the NCAA tournament as they will be fresher?

I feel bad for Pitt. The men's and women's teams combined to win 5.8% of their ACC games and both knocked out on day 1 of their respective tournaments (women's team was decimated 72-38).

Men's team has been to the NCAA tournament 12 of the last 14 years (not counting the one about to happen) and made the sweet sixteen 5 times in that span. To finish last in the conference should be unforgivable for such a program.

Yeah, they were pretty awful last year as well. They never should have hired Stallings in the first place, but he was the best they could get. I guess they could cut their losses and gamble on some mid-major coach, but no one wants to coach there.
