As i've gotten older and have more disposable income, the tipping question bothers me much less. I'll tip everyone, IDGAF.

How about tipping on alcohol? If your meals are $50 and you also get a $50 bottle of wine, do you tip an extra $10 for the bottle of wine or less?[Edited on September 9, 2017 at 2:17 AM. Reason : NCSUStinger is exactly who we thought he was]

If your food is $50 and your drinks are $50, you tip on a $100 check. What is the confusion?]

But how much do you tip the guy who opened the wine?
9/9/2017 5:27:48 AM

Why would there be a difference? Do you get a $50 entree and tip differently than five $10 appetizers?1. Read the total amount of your bill2. Tip on that amount[Edited on September 9, 2017 at 10:36 AM. Reason : .]

Do any of you people tip professionals you hire, like plumbers or HVAC?
8/16/2018 7:38:50 PM
NoBut if people have been working outside I'll bring beers out when they're finishing up
8/16/2018 7:47:07 PM
Can confirm. Cut synapse's grass about 10 years ago and he provided a cold beer.
8/16/2018 7:52:45 PM
i've tipped repair people who went above and beyond but usually i'll just offer water/drinks if they are working outside
8/16/2018 8:40:19 PM
My favorite thing in this thread so far is tipping less for the wine portion of the meal. I’m going to talk about this with people.
8/16/2018 11:19:52 PM
I get what he's saying... "a guy came by the table, and opened ONE (1) bottle of wine, which was significantly less work than preparing 5 drinks. Both are ~$50, but should not be tipped the same, because they didn't require the same amount of work." I've never heard that argument, but I get it. I still tip 20% of the total bill including wine service.
8/17/2018 6:15:35 AM
You guys know that in most restaurants with $50 bottles of wine the staff pool their tips?
8/17/2018 7:13:59 AM
I don’t think that’s true at all.
8/17/2018 7:28:24 AM
Maybe I’m wrong! Regardless. The thought process of tipping less on the wine portion of the check is silly.
8/17/2018 9:58:12 AM
If the water guy gives frequent refills, synapse tips 50% to him for all the effort
8/17/2018 1:51:04 PM
I'm not going to give someone 10 dollars to open and pour 4 glasses of wine. Bar prices for simple pours, one dollar per drink.
8/17/2018 2:12:00 PM
Are we talking a meal with drinks at a table or drinking at a bar? Bc the initial funny was a $50 bottle of wine during dinner.[Edited on August 17, 2018 at 2:37 PM. Reason : Dinnnnnn]
8/17/2018 2:37:19 PM
During dinner, or during supper?
