they made that race look interesting
3/1/2017 10:01:21 PM
hotlanta race should have been 400 miles and harvick took them behind woodshed but other than that was good race. lots of strategery and cars looked really hard to drive. Was pullin for larSON there. hope they dont repave it this year
3/5/2017 9:16:16 PM
You think Harvick went and decked Dillon post-race?
3/6/2017 6:03:51 AM
I hope so.
3/6/2017 6:47:40 AM
Think that may have been payback for last Texas race where Harvick wrecked Dillon
3/6/2017 11:56:32 AM
http://www.nascar.com/en_us/monster-energy-nascar-cup-series/schedule.htmlLas Vegas is getting a second date. The group that owns LV also owns New Hampshire, Texas, Bristol, Charlotte, Sonoma, Kentucky, and Atlanta. I'm guessing they move the dates around and New Hampshire loses a race.
3/8/2017 6:04:36 PM
^yes NH lost a date i am looking forward to the fall charlotte chase race in 2018 on the ROAD COURSE there are 4 braking/punting zones per lap. somebody going to get tackled on pit road after race [Edited on March 11, 2017 at 8:45 AM. Reason : c]

3/12/2017 7:36:49 PM
Exactly. Fuck Kyle Busch.
3/12/2017 7:58:03 PM
little douche wants to be marshawn lynchhttps://youtu.be/frmTQxvyEKolarSON would have had that race if he would stayed high in 1-2 on restart. he could have doored newman in 3-4 for payback from couple years ago. it was similar to kenseth last fall there, you cant trust your spotter when he says clear at that point on track on restart. will be interesting to see how it will be when they move the start finish line. busch race was WAY better without cup veterans leading all the laps. awesome for jr and little gator to get a win.
3/22/2017 5:52:17 AM
pretty good race, especially for california
3/26/2017 6:49:18 PM
^yepspecial shout out to nc state's own brian wilson. as a sub crew chief on 2 car he got 2nd place with a wrecked car! boom!
3/27/2017 7:28:32 AM
In NC State in NASCAR news:With Paul Wolfe suspended for 3 races, NC State Alumnus Brian Wilson is taking over as crew chief for Brad Keslowski, finishing second this past weekend. http://www.foxsports.com/nascar/story/brad-keselowski-overcomes-early-damage-finishes-second-032617
3/28/2017 9:26:39 AM
hey, did you guys know that keselowski's crew chief this past weekend was Brian Wilson, an NCSU grad? he led the team to a 2nd place finish!
3/28/2017 7:27:32 PM
NASCAR allows up to 40 cars in the Cup field this year. 38 cars entered this weekend's race at Martinsville. Someone told me that so far only the Daytona 500 had a full 40 car field this season. I just heard the Indy 500 may not have a full field this season either. This sucks. I like watching racing.[Edited on March 31, 2017 at 8:40 AM. Reason : .]
3/31/2017 8:40:20 AM
Quality over quantity
3/31/2017 9:23:29 AM
qualifying rained out. lining up by points instead of speed makes draftkings have more strategery imo
3/31/2017 10:22:02 PM
^^ Jeffrey Earnhardt - automatic qualifier into every race this year.
4/1/2017 12:08:02 AM
^LOL!^^^Yeah, but I like seeing a full field. If I want to watch 10, or 11 cars race then I'll just go to Wake County Speedway.
4/1/2017 2:36:03 AM
^^yeah, the charter system isn't greatbut there's no reason a 38 car field can't produce a race that's just as entertaining as a 43 car field. and in many cases a smaller field is better. martinsville and bristol would be much better with a 20-25 car field. give the actual fast guys some room to race each other and not traffic.and a 10 car field at wake county is usually more entertaining than a nascar national touring series race
4/1/2017 9:39:07 AM
^Not really. Each division at WCSW usually has the same car win every weekend.

that's what busch and trucks are for. and nascar has put limits on the cup drivers' participation in those series. i'm as big a critic of nascar as anyone, but this is something they are addressing somewhat correctly. no one misses start and parkers and washed up bobby labontes riding around in the back.don't get me wrong, i would much rather see a system with no guaranteed spots. racing is about being faster than the other guy, not who won a championship 15 years ago. so make everyone go or go home and let speed sort it out.i would also like to see heat races and shorter main events.all i'm saying is that sticking 5 more cars that can't keep pace on the track doesn't make for a more entertaining event.
4/1/2017 2:21:42 PM

4/3/2017 1:14:57 PM
NeuseRvrRat, you're confusing quality cars for quality drivers. They're two different things. I absolutely agree they result in higher-quality cars because the cars that disappear are the less-funded ones. I disagree it gives you higher-quality drivers because the price to enter increases which disenfranchises a section of drivers because the supply of rides go down, while making things easier for the Menards, Dillons, Patricks of the world because a higher-quality car requires more money, which is easier to get with a last name, a gimmick, or Daddy's rich. The start-and-park thing is a NASCAR anomaly that didn't exist anywhere else in racing due to how NASCAR structured their purse.[Edited on April 4, 2017 at 11:35 AM. And that's before we even begin to tackle questions like "with his lack of accomplishments and relatively little star power compared to Junior, how has Kasey Kahne held his ride at Hendrick this long?"
4/4/2017 11:46:25 AM
The only folks to not make a Cup race this year were Sorenson and Timmy Hill at Daytona. The problem is the cost, not the field size.well, not necessarily the cost as much as the lack of companies willing to invest marketing dollars in the shit pile that is today's NASCAR[Edited on April 4, 2017 at 6:24 PM. monster trying bring MMA fights to the tracks. fresh pavement on a high banked mile n half this weekend. got to think it wont be that great
4/5/2017 6:59:11 AM
you thought right
4/9/2017 5:14:44 PM
more passing than i expected. Gotta give it some time to age. 2nd groove was already becoming slightly usable by the end of the race
4/9/2017 5:31:33 PM
it's not like texas has a history of producing memorable races anyway
4/9/2017 10:54:42 PM
Hot off the press, Fernando Alonso to skip Monaco and race in the Indy 500 next month. He'll be racing a car for Michael Andretti and his current F1 team McLaren are a partner.
4/12/2017 9:51:17 AM
^nascar wants to be open wheel apparently as they will have 2 tire choices for all star race but you have to start behind soft tires if you on supersofts. I mean why not at this point
4/12/2017 9:56:34 AM
Reminds me of https://steveluvender.com/projects/allstar2017/
4/12/2017 10:44:15 AM
This is remarkably stunning news. Last time this happened of a current F1 driver doing Indy was Teo Fabi in 1984, and Alonso is a lot bigger than Fabi. There's also a political undercurrent at play here with McLaren that's not being stated publicly.Oh, and no chance this occurs if Bernie still ran F1.[Edited on April 12, 2017 at 11:33 AM. I liked Gluck's idea for all star race: every 5 laps car in last place eliminated. Caution when 4 cars left.
4/12/2017 11:43:24 AM
Problem with the All-star Race now is the segments it's had forever are now a normal part of races, so they need a new way to differentiate it.Always thought one reason for its decline in popularity is it's too much like any other random race instead of something special. That could be helped by moving the event out of Charlotte, but they're not going to do that.
4/12/2017 12:19:41 PM
We might get to see the new "we can start up to an hour early" rain policy this weekend
4/19/2017 5:31:49 AM
I think all-star race would be cool if they did a seeded 32 car bracket and did 1v1 races. Do a time trial and fastest car is the #1 seed and picks their opponent, #2 picks theirs etc. I don't know how many laps for each maybe 3 laps off a rolling start.
4/19/2017 6:28:51 AM
Never work. Would be too tedious with how many rounds it would take to complete, and 2 cars on a track and that's it would be boring (pretty much be qualifying plus 1 car).
4/19/2017 7:56:07 AM
http://www.espn.com/jayski/cup/2017/story/_/id/19159952/danica-patrick-comments-retirementDanica Patrick may retire soon. She really should do like the rest of the successful female race car drivers and compete in the NHRA. That is all about a quick reaction time and keeping it straight for about 5 seconds.
4/19/2017 11:55:10 PM
^watching practice now and she struggling big timethey laid the sticky rosin stuff a lot wider than last fall. bottom is your only choice and only sticks when tires hot.
4/22/2017 9:03:05 AM
guess we'll get to listen to this one on the radio at work tomorrow
4/23/2017 10:13:52 AM
^^^ Do you comprehend so little about the sport of auto racing that you think the necessary skills required for circuit racing and drag racing are related? If you need a Sunday racing fix, Indycars about to start on NBC Sports.[Edited on April 23, 2017 at 3:35 PM. Reason : /]
4/23/2017 3:33:49 PM
^I know it is two different types of racing, but my point is women never seem to be able to compete in long circle track/road races, but are pretty good at having a quick reaction time and keeping it straight for a few seconds. If she could learn how to drag race she would probably actually have a chance to win something. Leah Pritchett just won her 3rd race today out of the first 5 races in the NHRA.
