wow i told you guys in exhibition that smith shooting 3s was a red flag but now it seems almost certain gott is going to let him do whatever he wants and be a cancer.
11/12/2016 1:09:01 AM
Hendo, Mav and DSJ, all huge cancers
11/12/2016 1:39:11 AM
Per Giglio, Kapita cleared and eligible immediately

I place the blame of last nights terrible performance on the shoulders of Gott and DSJ. DSJ looked lazy and disinterested. And once it became apparent to him that he was having a bad game he started pouting and it got even worse. Lazy passes, picking up his dribble, couldn't beat the press, moping around. He nearly got Henderson killed at one point with a terrible pass at half court. Last night better have been an anomaly or we are in for a long year.
11/12/2016 9:44:38 AM
My observations:Clearly if we play that poorly we will lose a lot of games. Defense (especially defensive rebounding) was bad. 3 point shooting was abysmal and there were times we settled. Hopefully these issues can be chalked up to foul trouble, lack of big depth, and just an off shooting night. There were some positives. DSJ didn't have a great night, but they pressed for most of the game and he only had 1 turnover while we scored 15-20 points off breaking the press. If we shoot just 30% from 3 (which is not asking a lot) we win by double digits and DSJ has a double double with assists. Dorn and Henderson know their roles and didn't force things. Abu double double on 60% shooting and probably should have been 80%.
11/12/2016 11:19:44 AM
was this just a 'young team seeing real action for this first time' or was this a 'omfg we suck so bad and now its obvious' type of thing?
11/12/2016 11:51:38 AM
Biggest problem -- rebounding -- will definitely be helped with Kapita and Yurt returning. Kapita is supposedly a solid rebounder; Yurt is supposedly great on the offensive glass. We've got some talent, but we've got to learn to attack a zone, or teams will just zone us to death. Not worried about the shooting. Henderson and Mav took good shots. Just couldn't make them. Smith took some bad ones .... Gott has to keep him on a leash with stuff like that. He can shoot, but we're not beating anyone with him jacking deep 3's early in the shot clock.Think this game was a wake-up call for Smith. He can't just coast on talent this year. He's supposedly a fierce competitor and a leader of the team, but he didn't look like it last night -- dumb shots, mehhh body language, half-assing on defense because of the "injury." He's going to be great, but he's also going to have off nights. Can't let it effect the entire team.

I also don't think Georgia Southern is (or will be) as bad as some people seem to think.Obviously not an exact science by any means, but ESPN's preseason BPI had them at #83, right behind Iowa and South Carolina and ahead of the lower third or so of the SEC and PAC-12. For comparison's sake, Miami is #62, Wake is #66, Georgia Tech is #149, and BC is #151.

True or False: If we play like that regularly moving forward, it will be a bad year.I didn't say anything that wasn't true so don't be so butt hurt about it. I was there, we were bad, I was just making an observation.
11/12/2016 12:39:01 PM
if our entire team turns into ferrets we're in for a long year
11/12/2016 12:45:17 PM
If our entire team gets their fingers cut off in terrorist interrogations we're in for a long year
11/12/2016 12:54:42 PM
We won against a up and coming team without Kapita and Yurtseven. Calm down. Last year's team would have lost that game by 10.
11/12/2016 1:15:58 PM

11/12/2016 1:29:54 PM
what is ridiculous about what he said?
11/12/2016 1:31:44 PM
My goal was to make a simple comment about how that level of play is not sustainable for a successful season. I've gone back and reread what I wrote and can't figure out what was so bad about it but I guess it didn't translate or I worded it poorly? I'm not going off the deep end or even making a prediction of the future. If you said the comment was obvious or unnecessary I'd get it, I was clearly stating the obvious. But what was so crazy about what I said? I feel like if I'd said that at a bar over a beer you'd have said, "true, but it's just the first game, we'll figure it out." And I'd have said, "yeah, I imagine so." So why all the hate? Damn
11/12/2016 2:05:23 PM
It's not a good sign when, after the first game, someone is trotting out the "last year's team would have..." line.
11/12/2016 2:37:04 PM
I think these good games are an opportunity to improve and learn how to win. We will often play to the level of our competition and thats fine if we are able to pull out the close wins. Its being on the losing side that would be a cause for concern. Don't panic until that happens.
11/12/2016 3:04:19 PM
11/12/2016 3:07:33 PM
Is it obvious we have improved?I think we played like dogshit and were lucky we werent playing a good team. I will attribute some of it to being basically a brand new team playing together...but i cant say that we have improved over last year after watching that game
11/12/2016 3:21:39 PM
We shot terribly, were two big men down, and found a way to win against a team that is probably going to be one of the most improved in the country. If we continue to shoot like that, yes it will be a problem. People just see Georgia Southern and assume we should blow them out. Only favored by 13.
11/12/2016 3:28:30 PM
it is always a good sign when you beat a team after shooting like shit.
11/12/2016 3:49:25 PM
i hate to agree with boozie, but someone pointed out on twitter that Cat didnt have the luxury of an off night like DSJ had. If Cat had played like DSJ played last night, we are getting blown out. See W&M.
11/12/2016 3:54:37 PM
Cat should be on this team. But thats none of my business...
11/12/2016 3:59:49 PM
cat probably just made more than my salary for 2 weeks for work when the sixers signed him. i think hes happy.who sits the bench if cat is here, him or dsj? Does abu stay w/out a (rumored) promise of being more involved in the O b/c DSJ is more of a facilitator?you can blame twins, lacey, others, on Gott but not Cat.
11/12/2016 4:35:13 PM
11/12/2016 4:46:37 PM
a negative is that GaSo has their 2nd leading scorer from last year out today.
11/12/2016 4:48:19 PM
not only does 2 pgs work in college, it excels. its actually hard to think of great teams that didnt play 2 pgs together.
11/12/2016 4:48:33 PM
you can blame gott, i guess for this, but DSJ probably isn't coming here if Cat doesn't go pro. Cat was going pro all along, the coaches knew it...and recruited DSJ to come in and take over as the #1 PG for Cat.
11/12/2016 5:20:45 PM
Anya was so horrifically bad last night. 4 fouls in 10 minutes. I really hope he rarely see the floor in ACC play. Having him on the court is like playing 4 on 5.
11/12/2016 5:25:48 PM
11/12/2016 5:51:55 PM
dsj was here BEFORE cat went pro and if gott decided cat was going pro that far in advance then that proves his incompetence and would suggest jes destoryed the careers of multiple players. I dont believe that though.
11/12/2016 6:20:38 PM
^one of your least successful troll attemts to date.
11/12/2016 6:37:53 PM
i don't see how straightening out facts is a troll attempt. dude said dsj wouldn't have come here if cat stayed and probably didn't even know he was on the team last year.
11/12/2016 6:58:34 PM
I think it's just first-game jitters. Didn't UNC lose their first game to a nobody team one of their championship years? Now they know what they need to work on, and they still got the W.I don't think we can make much of anything from game 1 until we see game 2.
11/12/2016 7:16:57 PM
11/12/2016 7:23:14 PM
theres a difference between a plan and a decision. we are planning for dsj to be a one and done but if he plays like this the rest of the year then he should come back.do you really think DSJ would have just transferred to europe if cat came back to work on his game so he could potentially make the nba?[Edited on November 12, 2016 at 7:27 PM. Reason : OMG I REFUSE TO PLAY ON A TEAM WITH MORE THAN ONE GOOD PLAYER]
11/12/2016 7:27:13 PM
chirst man. you're being obtuse here. there was never a real chance Cat and DSJ would play together. sure it would've been really cool and fun but it wasn't going to happen. Cat was going pro. Cat did go pro. that's what we expected to happen and that's what the coaches were planning for and recruiting. i mean, if you wanna argue that there was a slim chance that Cat changed his mind - sure nothing was written in stone. but it was always the slimmest of slim possibilities. a pipe dream at best.[Edited on November 12, 2016 at 7:37 PM. it doesn't fucking matter who he is or is not playing for now. he was never gonna be here this year. sorry, man it just wasn't gonna happen
11/12/2016 7:42:09 PM
11/12/2016 7:54:52 PM
i did lol at e fellow insulting my fanhood by saying i didn't know DSJ was enrolled last year
11/12/2016 8:01:47 PM
Warren should've been a senior last year, so Cat probably would've transferred to play for the Europe All Stars last season, making this a moot point.
11/12/2016 8:25:21 PM
HEY CAT COME BACK AND PLAY A POSITION YOU WOULD NEVER PLAY PROFESSIONALLYHEY DSJ I KNOW WE PROMISED YOU THE LEAD ROLE, BUT YOU NEED TO SPLIT TIME WITH THIS GUYmaybe Roy or K can convince kids of that, with guaranteed exposure. And if your complaint is that Gott isnt Roy or K, man, i thought my expectations were too high.
