I'd get another CLS63, or E63. The S is great if you're an old man or have a big family or clients to drive around. If that's not the case, why bother with such a huge car.

how much would it be to buy the totaled car from the insurance company? Might be worth it for replacement parts
4/10/2017 8:53:23 AM
No interest in buying it back. If anything, I would have bought one of the other 9 out there, but it would end up costing me the same as the S63 I'm planning on getting. I am willing to sacrifice the sex appeal/awesomeness related to the matte finish for luxury and similar performance. This will be 2 years newer and have way more options and technology than the previous car.If I could have gotten the matte finish for a more reasonable price, I would have stuck with the CLS 63. The fact that it would cost me an extra $20K to replicate it based on availabiltiy, I could not justify investing that much into a car that I had bought right just 4 months earlier.
4/10/2017 9:58:08 AM
$20k for vinyl wrapping? between this and your powder coating and wrapping trim, all of your cost estimates are more than double what they should cost
4/10/2017 10:41:03 AM
That car wasn't wrapped. I don't want a wrapped car. I was saying I bought the car right. Of the remaining 9, they are all more than what I bought mine for and did not include the mods. If I wanted apples to apples and wanted ECU tuned, everything blacked out, sound system, pedal box, etc., by the time I was done doing that and paying what they'd accept for the car, it would have been $20K more than what I bought mine for.I realize the powder coated wheels I had mentioned were higher than normal, but I think most of the other stuff is close, after you add in labor for installation.
4/10/2017 11:38:56 AM
Is it totaled? I'm going to go pull parts off of it
4/10/2017 12:16:59 PM
Both companies declared it a total loss. I settled with the at fault insurer this morning and check arrives tomorrow AM. Flight booked to DC for next car for Friday - 2014 Mercedes S63.
4/10/2017 1:35:42 PM
C'mon bro, S65 or bust. None of this sissy V8 crap.
4/10/2017 2:46:52 PM
CLS --> S --> GLS --> Gnatural progression but yeah, after 63, the only way up is a 65!!!
4/10/2017 6:35:09 PM
What color? specs? blackout? etcYou can't leave us hanging in suspense lol
4/11/2017 1:39:43 PM
Silver with black rims and red brake calibers. Black leather napa leather and walnut wood.I need to get it back before I decide if I'll black out all emblems and chrome on the exterior.Had to renegotiate deal, as inspection determined it needed new pads/rotors front and back and they are $Texas. Thank god they are not ceramic brakes, as those run $17K for this car. Normal rotors and pads are close to $6,500 and I agreed to come up $2,500 more if they go ahead and replace front and back now, so I am getting a good price. Car was already about $7-9K below comparables that I've seen and this still has a year left on the warranty.
4/11/2017 1:46:17 PM
How do you like the new car?
4/18/2017 3:56:19 PM
LOVE it. Way nicer and performance is on par even though I haven't tuned it yet. Planning on tuning it next week. Will have 710hp and 800 ft lbs torque. Feels different with AWD vs RWD, but overall experience is stellar. Happy to give rides to those interested. The surround sound is out of this world.

I needed a 4 door car that allows me to put my son's car seat in the back and him enough room to sit comfortably, so I didn't have a plethora of options...
4/21/2017 9:51:06 AM
What the fuck do you do to afford this shit?
4/22/2017 9:50:17 PM
How long do you have?
4/23/2017 3:01:17 AM
I'm a commercial real estate broker and flip houses as a hobby. Just closed on my second flip the week before last and made $58K on it. I had intended to use those profits to buy the first car. I then rolled the insurance proceeds into the next and threw a little extra in to get the newer car. Between the main job and the flip, I'm having a great year already and have several other large deals in the works.

4/24/2017 2:26:43 PM
you'll be the fastest thing on all-season tires
4/24/2017 3:35:58 PM
Zing. I don't think the new one has all season tires...however, when it comes time to replace them, I will likely stick to my Extreme Contact DWS 06s.Flame away.
4/24/2017 3:40:44 PM
As much as I like the DWS, why not the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+?
4/24/2017 4:07:59 PM
I've never really looked at other tires? The reality is, I don't need to corner super duper fast. Most of the time I'm enjoying the car and truly pushing it, I am accelerating quickly and in a straight line (highway). I have always used the Extreme Contacts from my Lexus IS300 to my Infiniti M56S to the CLS 63 and was always happy with them. They are a little harder than the dealer suggested tires, which also means they'll last longer, which is important when I could go through a set every 18-24 months.
4/24/2017 4:23:49 PM
7xx HP car talking about all-season tires...
4/24/2017 10:35:11 PM
You don't seem to suffer from lack of bank, so let me trot out this idea. How about 2 sets of tires, Pilot Super Sports for the warm months, and true winter tires for the cold. With this setup you get the best possible performance all year.
4/25/2017 8:55:13 AM
^Perhaps I'll look more into performance tires, as this car is AWD and other was RWD.
4/25/2017 9:23:48 AM
do you really need winter tires in raleigh? how many days are we talking that they are actually useful?
4/25/2017 10:08:27 AM
I don't need winter tires, but I like something that drives well in the rain, as this is my daily driver. I don't need slick track tires. The Extreme Contact DWS 06s are all season, not winter tires.[Edited on April 25, 2017 at 10:17 AM. Reason : ]
4/25/2017 10:11:11 AM
^Most high performance street tires are also good in wet conditions. Good rain performance isn't the exclusive domain of all season tires.
4/25/2017 12:32:36 PM
I 2nd what has been said already. I personally run PS2s/PSS (depends what my connection can get his hands on) all year. Any time the temp is under 40 its pretty sketchy the first few miles leaving home.
4/25/2017 2:29:59 PM
I second two sets of tires. Small investment to really enjoy the vehicle year round.
4/25/2017 3:05:51 PM
I don't get why you perceive it to be unenjoyable with a set of all seasons...would you really notice the difference if you are not putting it on the track and racing it? My extreme performance I enjoy is typically accelerating while driving - don't need to floor it off the line as I don't like whip lash, but if I want to get up and go, it has more than enough power to do so.
4/25/2017 4:32:45 PM
I do understand what you're saying but you have a really really nice vehicle and
